djamesy
Hi all, I am currently in Australia on a tourist visa, however I wish to stay and study. My tourist visa ends in March so my question is: If I apply for a student visa for a course that starts after my tourist visa expires, will I be granted a bridging visa? Many thanks
blossom
It depends on when the course starts. It at least used to be that you couldn't apply onshore more than four months (might have been three) before the course starts. You will need to read up on the student visa subclass to see which one it is.
connaust
Depends upon exactly which start date you enrol for? Earlier date Feb/March you can do visa with CoE as soon as you have paid fees. Assuming you are assessment level 1 e.g. UK citizen, and start date after tourist visa expiry e.g. April or mid year, you would need to extend your tourist visa (if possible).
