adityaa Posted December 8, 2013 Share Posted December 8, 2013 Hi I got my 485 recently and planning to go for PR next year my current points are 50 with age and education, i have 1 year aus exp in IT i.e 5 points and partner skills of my wife i.e another 5 Since i have 60 Points, myself and my wife need 6 in ielts anyways. Gareth 666 Posted December 8, 2013 Share Posted December 8, 2013 If you are the main applicant and your wife is from a country with English as it's recognised first language then she doesn't need to take IELTS at all to prove English language ability. As for yourself, the same applies for proof of English ability but from memory of doing my 190 last year, there are some occupations that require minimum of 4 band 7's. Most people only take the Academic test if their skills assessment authority requires it as it's generally felt to be a bit harder than General but if you choose to do Academic even if not required for skills assessment, that's OK.
