Confused-ACS Skill Assessment regarding Suitability Criteria & Skill Level Requirement Met Date

Hi All,

It's been a while since I have been keeping myself up to date with ACS and Skill Migration process since I got mine done 3 years back. Now I am planning for my sister's skilled migration and I have been researching out the current application process for ACS and DIAC.

My first priority is to get the ACS sorted out correctly for my sister at the first place prior to EOI(Expression of Interest) or any other Immigration process.

So here is the summary and I would appreciate any suggestions and advise that you guys could help me with:

She has completed her Masters recently and is waiting for the results(by next week). During her full time education, she has been working as Web Developer part-time(20 Hours per week, which is considered to be full-time for ACS assessment).

I was reading through the forums and ACS website information section at http://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/7319/Skills-Assessment-Guidelines-for-Applicants.pdf and got myself confused with the following option:

1. Should she be applying for ACS skill assessment as "Recent Graduate" (Page 3 from the above link, where her experience won't be counted)?

Where as I want her 1 year of Australian experience to be considered so that she can get herself accessed for Developer Programmer - 261312 listed under SOL List (ref: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/sol.pdf)

From my understanding as the above ACS website link(Page 3) states that:

Recent Graduate

Please Note: Your result letter for a “Recent Graduate” type application will NOT state a “Skill Level Requirement Met Date” as work experience is not required to be assessed.

Where as, "Skill Level Requirement Met Date" states (Page 4 on ACS website link),

3. SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENT MET DATE

The “Skill Level Requirement Met Date” will be noted on your ACS result letter and will be determined

by the outcome of the suitability criteria.

All relevant work experience completed after the “Skill Level Requirement Met Date” will be

considered “Skilled Employment” and eligible for points under the skilled migration points test.

The work experience required to meet the suitability criteria is NOT included as “Skilled Employment”

and is NOT eligible for points under the skilled migration points test.

The ACS assessment process will seek to find the earliest “Skill Level Requirement Met Date” possible

for each application.

=====================================================

Does that mean, the Australian Work Experience gained (20H per week) while studying Masters is VOID? Henceforth the 60 Point system won't award the applicant 5 points under Skill employment section (Marked in red)? (Ref: http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/189.aspx)

Thanks mate for the reply,

Yeah as I thought so, Recent Graduate does not work out as the option for sure.

Meanwhile, I asked my sister to call ACS and they have confirmed that:

15th Jan 2014 onwards, work experience would be counted only after you have received the ACS assessment letter(from that date) and when she asked how bout applying for ACS assessment now, the reply was" as per now there is no such rule".

Not a definite answer on whether the experience would be considered for sure or not,

Has anyone applied as Recent graduate and wanting Australian Experience considered recently?

Does it cater the experience likewise as it states or is there any catch that I am missing out while reading info and talking around for this option?

Thanks

Hi! My ICT skills have been assessed to be suitable for migration under 263111 (Computer Network and Systems Engineer) of the ANZSCO Code.

I have more than 3 years ICT experience, but I haven't got yet my letters and other papers from my employees to recognize it in Australia. I've got my skills assessment because I have done a master of IT in Australia.

I have an AQF Bachelor Degree with a minor in computing which was completed in March 2004 in Brazil.

Does my experience counts for migration purposes as it was completed after the completion date of my AQF Bachelor Degree and before the completion date of my masters in 2013?

Hi Marcio Andre!

Your confirmation letter from ACS should contain "The following employment after <month> <year> is considered to equate to work...". I suspect that's exactly how they are going to count your work experience? Starting from the moment when you became (in ACS' perception) a skilled worker.

Hi guys,

I have received the following result letter from ACS:

Your ICT skills have been assessed as unsuitable for migration under 263111 (Computer Network and Systems Engineer) of the ANZSCO Code.

The ACS project report form submitted as part of the Recognition of Prior Learning application is not assessable and therefore does not meet the requirements of the ACS as stated in the policy manual.

Your work experience has been calculated as follows on the basis of full time employment of at least

20hrs per week:

Dates: 07/96 - 07/98 (0yrs 0mths)

Position: Network Engineer - Not Professional ICT Level Experience

Dates: 07/98 - 12/07 (9yrs 5mths)

Position: Network Engineer

Dates: 01/08 - 08/13 (5yrs 7mths)

Position: Senior Network Engineer

I'm completely lost and don't know how to proceed. Should I file an appeal, a review or submit a new application.

Any help shall be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
