Hi folks.

Ok so after a quicvk succesful outcome of my Vettasses assessment, I am now looking to apply for the 2nd satge, but on e-mailing vettassess for future dates for skills test they have said they cannot give me any dates at this stage, and to look at doing the technical interview.

Can any Carpenters who have done this interview possibly give me some pointers of where it is and what it actually consists of? as I have the cash sitting here waiting anjd am keen to keep my momentum going.

Any help greatly appreciated

Also expecting my IELTS results on friday, 2nd time lucky hopefully. ;)

Hiya,

My hubby did the tech interview for carpentry but in Perth , WA :) He said they don't call it technical for nothing! go into literally as much detail as poss for each question and make sure you know about Australia's health and safety procedures :) good luck!

Hiya found this over in Perth poms there's a recent thread about it. Don't know if its what your looking for but worth having a look

Lasted 25 minutes and was really informal, we talked about safety, although I didn't know the ins and outs of things in Oz he still wanted to know that I was aware of health and safety. He then asked me to describe how I would:

Set out a building before excavations, where I'd get my info from

Describe how I'd lay various floors

Describe how I'd fit a window frame

Describe how I'd fit a roof, I kind of specialise in hipped roofs and he liked that

Describe how I'd fit a staircase

And that was about it. The chap who did the interview was a carpenter who did assessments as well. He said the interview could last between 20 mins and 2 hrs depending on how fully I described how I did things.

It an absolute piece of piss and no carpenter/ joiner will ever fail it. I got the feeling that if you've passed the evidence based part you're all but guaranteed to pass the second part.

Good luck - See more at: http://www.perthpoms.com/forum/migration-issues/12612-carpenter-joiner-technical-interview.html#sthash.5eDlAbZu.dpuf
