Has anyone successfully left and returned to Aus to go to nz for a holiday on a BVB visa ?

Hi, am applying for my second sub class 461 - nz family dependency visa. Substantive visa runs out on 03.09.13. Have a BVA at the moment. We re due to go to nz to see family on 30.08 and return on 08.09 ie when substantive visa runs out. I have been told to apply fo a BVB to leave and re enter Australia. However, thy cannot confirm if allowed back in. Also unsure in nz will let me in at all if no valid substantive visa to return to Aus. Has anyone been in this situation? Thanks for your help x

You defenatly would need bridging visa b as otherwise your bridging visa a would cease to exist as soon as you left.
