How can I get a NVQ Level 2 Refrigeration & Airconditioning recognised in Oz?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I hope maybe someone can shed some light on this issue for us?

Hubby is looking for a job in vending which is what he did in the UK, and has had a call from someone who is interested in taking him on, and part of the job description is replacing compressors, fixing leaks, and re-gassing machines. He did this in the UK in his old job, so he knows what he is doing. He has an NVQ 2 in refrigeration and conditioning, and serviced and manufactured electric pipe freezing equiptment for 13 years in the job prior to the vending one in the UK, so has a lot of on the job experience. His potential new employer wants to know if his NVQ2 is valid here in Oz. I presume it is not and he will need to do something here to either get it recognised, or possibly do a course from scratch? Hubby has called around a few training centres here in Adelaide but so far no one seems to be able to shed any light on what he needs to do now. Has anyone got any knowledge in this area? We'd be super grateful. Thanks :)
