russ and claire
We have a good friend in Perth and was wondering- can he secure us a long term rental before we go out to Perth? We would rather not pay for a short term let or holiday let due to them apparently costing more, or do we have to see it in person with our details etc? Hope that makes sense. Guest The Pom Queen
It really does depend on the agent, I'm not sure for Perth but in Melbourne the agents are very reluctant, they use to do it but then when the families moved over they didn't like the house and would break the lease, so agents put a stop to it. Tickled Pink
Friends in Adelaide did this no probs. Am I right in thinking you have still to get a visa though?

Yup still need to do that but do like to think ahead so that I can plan things as best I can.
Tickled Pink
Well that comes way way way down the need to do list. Not even any point looking until about 4 weeks, give or take, before you want a place.... Which visa do you intend to apply for?
russ and claire
Oh I know it's a long way off and wouldn't do anything now but whilst in the night feeding baby I just started thinking about the rental side. It's the 189 visa so that will take time but thought it was ok to ask the question.

Tickled Pink
I'd prob start with things you can do first, and will need to do much much sooner. E.g. if you haven't already, look up where your designated regional centre is for medicals, look up about police checks and download the forms so you know what info you need to fill in, look up submission checklist for visa, plan which docs you need to colour photocopy and/ or scan, get validated etc etc... rentals will com and go a million times over in the year it will prob take for the visa to come through. russ and claire
Thank you for the list Tickled Pink I try not to think about those things at night whilst feeding Jacob or I won't get back to sleep due to stress :twitcy: Russ is on annual leave next week so will be looking at what we need to do and draw up a tick list and start printing things.
