rachall
Hi All We are going to sw Sydney in the next couple of mths. I have a 457 as a nurse but the OH is an Estimator within the Shopfitting field. He has practical experience of carpentry and joinery but he works specifically within the drawing and estimating department with qualifications in AutoCAD. Does anyone know what the employment prospects are like?
dunsford
Hi there If he has good experience he shouldn't have too much trouble finding work. The shopfitting area is quite weak at the moment with tough times in retail, but he'll still find something. He might have more luck in residential. I'm currently studying to be an estimator myself. Civil estimating is where all the work is right now. Good luck.
rachall
Thanks dunsford, he's been in Shopfitting for 12 years. Hopefully he will have transferable skills that will be useful in the residential field, I know he has completed several one off design and builds for private homes, so if retail is weak this should help.
