Guest guest67442
Hello everyone Have visa in place now and looking to head over to Tas next year sometime, most likely May. Looking at the various areas, we've taken a liking to the Kingston, Snug, Margate or Kettering stretch. All seem to be max 30 mins drive into Hobart and lovely areas. Plenty of nice houses available and enough stuff about them to not have to go into Hobart for everything. Can anyone advise on these areas, particularly regarding schools? Our kids will be 10,7 & 5 by the time we may the move so obviously both secondary and primary schools are an important consideration to us. Would appreciate any word or advice or a shared experience or two! Thanks in advance
Skani
At first I thought you meant the suburb of South Hobart....but here is a list of schools south of Hobart between Kingston and Woodbridge. (Kettering doesn't have a school). All except one have a website. I don't have personal experience of any of them but you can find much information about them, especially how they compare on performance and demographics to other schools, on the MySchool website. Just enter the name of each school in the Search box. http://www.myschool.edu.au/SchoolSearch.aspx http://www.kingstonprimary.tased.edu.au/ http://www.kingstonhigh.tased.edu.au/ http://calvin.tas.edu.au/ http://www.staloysius.tas.edu.au/prospectus/welcome http://www.scc.tas.edu.au/ http://www.blackmansbay.tased.edu.au/ https://education.tas.edu.au/illawarraprimaryschool/default.aspx http://www.tarremah.tas.edu.au/ http://www.schools.education.tas.gov.au/margateprimary/default.aspx http://www.channel.tas.edu.au/ Snug Primary School (doesn't have a website) http://www.schools.education.tas.gov.au/woodbridge/default.aspx
Guest guest67442
Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in posting! That's really good info thanks, we've started the trawl through the links. Does anyone have any first hand experience of kids in the schools in this area?
Skani
I think Crispysince70 has kids who go to Kingston High School - and maybe one to the primary school there? - so you could private message her if she doesn't see this. There was also another forum member who had school age children in that area - Emma&Paul or something similar - but I'm not sure which school hers attended. Likewise might be worth doing a search for her and PMing.
