wanderinred Posted May 8, 2012 Share Posted May 8, 2012 Hello, My partner and I had tax file numbers for Australia about 15 years ago when we were on working holiday visas to Australia. We have now finally gotten around to getting back (we didnt plan on being away this long!) and have been granted 176 visa. Does anyone know whether we need to apply for new TFNs or can we use the same ones (if we can somehow trace them that is!). Guest Guest31881 Posted May 8, 2012 Share Posted May 8, 2012 If you contact the Australian tax office and explain they should be able to tell you your numbers and make sure they are reactivated ( I believe if not used they go dormant) Once you have a number you keep it for life, even if you leave and return many years later.
