Export Permit?

Hi,

We are trying to arrange taking two cats to Melbourne.

We have just had an email from AQIS saying we need to send them a copy of their own form (which they attached) proving the RNATT results, stamped and signed by the govt vet.

We received the test results back from the govt lab and attached them to our application but there was no AQIS form mentioned at the time.

Two questions...

1) Is this AQIS form standard practise?

2) After ringing DEFRA to query the above, they told us we need to apply for an export permit from DEFRA. Again, is this standard? It's not something we've seen or heard about when doing our research.

Thanks in advance for any help

D'oh! Mrs (who is a vet nurse!) decided to read the step by step guide properly now and found that we missed the AQIS permit step, so i take it all back.

Didn't know about the export permit though. Has anyone else shipped cats? Did you have to get an export as well as an import permit?

Dear Cardffslim

Yes, pets need an export permit from DEFRA in UK. This is basically a copy of the pages of the permit, but your cats will only need the export papers completing in UK. Give DEFRA a call and they can explain this to you a bit better.
