Hi Jez and Prashant, When you applied for your parent's visa, did you answer the question on " Does the applicant intent to enter Australia on more than one occasion as Yes or No?" I applied for my parents and sibling's family member's visa and its still pending. I answered yes to the above question. I'm not sure if this portion of the visa has bearing on how quick they process the visas nowadays.
