  1. Hi All, I didn't attend my citizenship ceremony today because my family is currently out of Australia and my kids who are in my application would have thier visas cancelled if I had attended because when a citizenship letter is granted all the current visas are cancelled. I had informed DOHA about this through phone call and email and they advised me not to attend the ceremony and then wait for the next invitation. Can anybody guide on when should I expect another invitation for the ceremony. Thanks.
  2. Hi EurotoAus DHA sent the invitation through email. They also mentioned if due to a genuine reason ceremony can't be attended then I need to inform the DHA asap but it should be kept in mind that next invitation can be months away.
  3. Hi All, I received citizenship ceremony invitation (26th Jan 2023) yesterday. My application included my kids so they are also invited. My family is out of Australia and scheduled to be back by 5th of February. My question is if I skip the ceremony, what are the chances that my name will be included in the next ceremony? It is Cardinia Shire in Victoria. Thanks
  4. Hi, Could any body guide me? My application for citizenship has been approved however I m yet to receive ceremony invitation. I intend to fly out of Australia tomorrow to come back after 20 days. Do I need to inform the department of home affairs? And if yes, what's the procedure to inform them. Thanks
  5. It was a stay of 28 days. The officer told that because you spent these 28 days in a country where I already had lived more than 90 days after the grant of the PR Visa, so I shall have to produce a police certificate of all the periods stayed there till the application is approved. It can even be a single day.
  6. I went through a similar situation recently. After asking for a fresh police clearance certificate of a recent visit to my home country, I was allowed to take the test and then arrange the certificate in next 60 days. I arranged it in next 20 days. Uploaded it as soon as I could do. My application was then approved after 2 days. Now waiting for ceremony invite from Cardinia Council.
  7. Hi All, my partner got citizenship interview date on 17th August 2022. She just noticed that she had slightly different names on her educational documents and also on the birth certificate. In all other documents including Passport, she has her current name. Should she inform this to citizenship processing team and if Yes, what corrective measures can be taken at this stage. Thanks
  8. If the application has been approved then no need to do another PCC. Because at that stage, all the document check has been completed and you are only waiting for a ceremony to get the application finalised.
  9. Hi all, Please suggest me what documents will be acceptable for change of name before and after marriage? An Affidavit stamped and signed by a lawyer/Megistrate will be acceptable? I m asking this on behalf of my wife who has to appear for citizenship interview after 2 weeks. Thanks
  10. They asked for a Police clearance certificate for a recent 30 days visit of my country of birth. Such certificates will be required for every visit till the application is approved and finalised.
  11. Thanks all, I had the test and interview yesterday in Melbourne. All went well except they wanted an additional document which I shall have to arrange from my country of birth. Can any body guide if that document has just to be uploaded to my application (after it has been arranged) or it has to be physically submitted to the Melbourne office?
  12. Hi All, Please guide me. I lost my birth certificate which was uploaded with my citizenship application. Meanwhile, I was able to get a new birth certificate from the government. Is it important to upload it now as I shall be showing it, if asked, during the interview tomorrow? All the contents of the new birth certificate are same except it has a different date of issue.
  13. Hi All, I have citizenship test after two weeks in Melbourne. Can any body guide on which documents do they check prior to letting you sit for the test? Thanks
  14. Please login to your immi account and you will find update option against your approved application and you will be able to make changes to your address. Attach supporting documents.
  15. Website of Home affairs says 25 months from application to ceremony.
  16. This is my theory. Victorian government thinks that by slowing down the whole process they might be able to contain that work force which has plans to leave the country for sometime after getting the citizenship. This might be helpful specially when new migrants are not being allowed to come in and there is an increasing shortage of workers in different sectors.
  17. Some one please guide me. We as family applied for citizenship in May 2021. My daughter applied on a seperate application but opted for the citizenship ceremony to be conducted together with all the family members. Only her application has been approved and she just completed her year 12 of education as well. How to unlink her application from rest of family members (who are still waiting for their applications to be approved) so that she is invited for a seperate citizenship ceremony on asap basis so that she is able to access government loans for higher education in university. We are in Melbourne. Thanks
