AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP TIMELINES 2020-2021
microstarba replied to 04April2017DE's topic in Citizenship
Hope things go smoothly for you too and look forward to hearing your update. FYI, rocked up at 6:30am this morning at the passport office and the line was already out of control and we spent most of the queuing time outdoor on the street (freezing). So if you are to pick it up in person, be prepared as we're heading into winter -

Yes I got the email yesterday and went to collect this morning. Note that 2 weeks ago I called the passport office (on wait line for 2 hours) to follow up + change to collect in person -

I created the application online and lodged in person at Auspost. I can check the status of the application at https://www.passports.gov.au/ I think you can always call up the passport office to check the status using the reference number (and expects 1.5-2.0 hour wait time) -

I have been waiting for the passport for 7 weeks...checking online the website still say 'under assessment' Application can be created online but eventually you still have to go to Auspost to lodge your application. -

Hi there, hope you are keeping well I'm still waiting to receive the passport, and can provide the update once i get it. But basically: - Ceremony on 11 April, - The instruction mentioned wait for 10 business days before applying for passport, but I tried online (passports.gov.au) and it allowed me to apply after 3 days (i.e. the website managed to validate the certificate number) - Given Easter break, I only went to lodge it at Australia Post on 20 April and now still waiting. On the website, status is "under assessment" Hope it helps -

Updated ceremony invitation. Guys this is surprisingly fast as I thought it would be another 6-8 months wait for the ceremony so I hope this is a good sign for all the people waiting in VIC -

I kinda feel like we need to set up a shared spreadsheet and kindly ask everyone to update their timeline in there. Once we’ve got that, I think a lot of the questions can be answered and people can refer to it for general timeline I’m happy to set up the file. But keen to hear if people are interested in the idea -

What document are you actually referring to? My experience going to the test (last week / in Melbourne VIC) was they only looked at my driver licence and passport (mainly to confirm your identity). I did bring along my birth certificate (assuming this is the doc you are talking about) but wasn't needed -

Hi Amy, so you waited c.7-8 months from approval to ceremony? and you are in QLD.. Then I can only assume VIC will take longer than that unless someone has got a better experience to share... Congrats and enjoy the ceremony ahead -

I've got a question and appreciated if someone had the same situation can shed some light My application was lodged in October 2020 under my old passport (expired now). In 2021, given the expiring passport, I got a new one and following this, I've updated details on immi account and attached a scanned copy of the new passport to my citizenship application Is that all I need to do or am I missing something? I'm still haven't heard any update re. my application (14 months already). Some background details as follow: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Current visa: subclass 189 (granted 2016) Citizenship application: Oct 2020 Region: Melbourne, VIC Number of applicants: 1 Application status: Received ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you all -

Looks like Melbourne/VIC is really slow compared to other states. Since Covid hits the typical waiting time has been c.1 year. But hopefully for applications lodged recently the process will be a bit faster... -

Thank you. Yes that would be the preferred approach. Many people mentioned 'phone calls' so I wonder if it's different by state / case / current visa scheme etc. -

Hi all hope everyone is safe. I'm new here and waiting for my application to be processed (based in Melbourne VIC) and I think it should be coming in the next 1-2 months. So I've got a question: Do you get an email notification / message in your immi account, OR do you get a phone call that you are supposed to pick up? I usually don't pick up strange numbers hence the question. Thanks all, Cheers,
