  1. You’ll need to have been here for four years on any kind of visa. One out of these four years should be as a permanent resident. If you’ve been here for four years and have been a permanent resident for more than one, then you can apply for citizenship. To be sure, all you have to do is try to lodge an application. The application page on immi website won’t let you proceed if you’re not eligible.
  2. There you go https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/test-and-interview/prepare-for-test/practice-test-new
  3. Hi, Rob The form and the photo are not necessary. Read the invitation carefully and bring only what is required. ●at least three documents that collectively show your photograph, signature, currentresidential address, date of birth, birth name and gender ●proof of name change, if applicable ●any other identity documents issued by another government that you consider will assist in verifying your identity ●evidence of when you first arrived in Australia and your present country of citizenship ●the documents that were submitted with your application (passport, birth certificate and ID, not forms) ●documents for any children under 16 years of age included in your application ●official translation to accompany any documents which are not in English (seeTranslating your documents) ●any other documents that we have requested you to provide.
  4. We got the approval on the same date. Hopefully they'll invite me for the ceremony next week
  5. Don't stress over it. Mine took 6 weeks to be approved. My partner's took 8 weeks. There have been changes to processing times recently as well. Hang in there.
  6. You can change on the day of the interview now, when the interviewer check your documents. Just make sure they are updated with your new address. Bring a utility bill too.
  7. 1. Yes, you have. The answer would be no if you'd come here before 1990 and had never left Australia. 2. Yes, just enter the name. No ANZSCO code needed. 3. Only Australia if Australia is your only country of residence. 4. If you've never been to any other countries apart from Australia, all you need to add is your home country. For your home country, choose 'Other' and then clarify it is your home country. That easy.
  8. I did mine on 10/03 and got approved 21/04. My friend did his test on the same day, still waiting.
  9. Hi guys, A friend did his test the same day I did in Darwin on 10/03/21, at Centrelink Darwin City. Mine was approved last week, 6 weeks later. His is still showing as Received. Anyone in a similar situation? P.S. I still haven’t received that letter your supposed to receive after approval, and I wonder if it has to do with the fact that in our applications we said we’d like to do the ceremony together.
  10. All documents should be NAATI certified. I’d rather err on the side of caution. After having spent so much money on immigration after the years, I just find it easier to do things as they ask, even in the case they won’t even look at the document (which for some people they don’t). Depending on what your timeline is looking like, you can request a free translation through your ImmiAccount, although they take approximately 10 working days to get back to you. https://translating.homeaffairs.gov.au/en
  11. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had the same document re-translated. For the sake of being cautious, get a new translation. If they do ask to eye the document, they’ll want that pretty NAATI stamp to be there.
  12. Not only will you need to inform them, you’ll need to ask for an exemption to leave the country. Also, your application will be on hold until you return to Australia. Don’t wait until the last minute to make these arrangements. If you know you’ll need to fly out, get that exemption now.
  13. Yes. Have them send it to you by DHL. It’ll cost you an extra few bucks, but it’ll be here within a week.
  14. You cannot delete any documents previously uploaded. Just upload the new one. The form should be uploaded to the tab “others”
  15. The address can be changed by logging into your immiaccount and go the update details tab. Yes, you will need to upload evidence of your new address, so go to the upload documents tab, and upload it to the “address” tab. Regarding the marriage, you’ll need to fill a form for “Changes in Circumstances”, and upload it too. If you changed your name, add that new info, too. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/form-listing/forms/1022.pdf
  16. It took me exactly 6 weeks to get approved. Hang in there.
  17. Hi all, Got my application approved this morning. Applied: 02/11/20 Test: 10/03/21 Approved: 21/04/21 Location: Darwin (Centrelink) @Chelsearoxanna What's yours looking like? @Darwinian Congrats on your approval!
  18. Download Form 1359, fill it and send it to the email on the form. It’s a request for your international movements. It takes at least 30 days for issuance. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/form-listing/forms/1359.pdf
  19. My heart actually raced a bit when I saw you had updated the forum. I thought yours had been approved hahaha.
  20. It’s actually been 5 weeks. I did the test on the day after you and still waiting too. Next Tuesday it will be your 6th week, so will be mine.
  21. Home Affairs is clear: 1) If you’re offshore, you cannot be conferred citizenship. 2) You’ll have to wait 4-6 months for interview after lodging the application. 3) Up to 6 weeks for approval. 4) Up to 5 months for the ceremony. If you’re within these timeframes, do not call them because you’re just wasting everybody’s time. Also, DO NOT leave Australia because it WILL delay your process.
  22. What do you mean you “moved” overseas? If you permanently moved elsewhere, you broke your permanent residency and therefore will not be eligible for citizenship. If you stranded out of the country for COVID-19-related reasons, then make sure Home Affairs knows about it. Rule of thumb is: you cannot be conferred citizenship while overseas, reason why they ASK if you’re planning any trips during the test while you wait for approval.
