  1. Did the Citizenship ceremony yesterday with my son: total time from the application to ceremony = 363 days which is equivalent of ~19% of all my time living in Australia During the citizenship process more than 70% of the time was waiting for the test, and approval was on the same day North Sydney
  2. Hi everyone, Just received the invite for the ceremony for myself and my son. From the date of the application to the ceremony it will be a little less than 1 year. Applied in May 2020 Test February 2021 - approved same day Ceremony May 2021 in North Sydney During the process I had to travel overseas because my father was very very sick and like many people, I struggled to get back to Australia due to the travel cap in place. I thought the process would take more time, as I travelled a lot overseas because of my work after the PR but it was quite fast. Happy day for me in the country that I call home.
  3. I think some councils are adding some extra days for ceremonies. this is my own observation from the North Sydney council, which I am waiting for my citizenship ceremony (since March): This is in Jan/2021 and this is Now: source: https://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/Community_Services/Other_Services/Citizenship_Ceremonies I see that some dates were added and my feeling is that some councils are doing an extra effort to help "almost citizens" waiting for the citizenship ceremony at least it is what I see for N.Sydney
  4. hey everyone, The Gov website says 5 (70%) - 9 months (90%), but I think this is for all states, wanted to know more about the experience in NSW. Was anyone invited to the ceremony in NSW recently?
  5. 2nd of February, it was approved for myself and my son.
  6. hey mates, Does anyone know how long it is taking for the citizenship ceremony in Sydney or North Sydney? thanks
  7. Submitted in May/2020.... Did the test today, my son is 12 and is included in my application.... Approval email received after 4 hours of the test.... We are in Sydney..
  8. Hi, Does anyone know if Airlines are cancelling business tickets too due to the travel cap ? I heard they can cancel and the refund may take a while
  9. I see that the processing time website was updated recently: From date of approval to ceremony 4 months (75%) 5 months(90%) source: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/citizenship-processing-times But would love to hear if that is correct for the North Sydney council. Anyone know how long it is taking for the Ceremony in N.Sydney ? thanks
  10. Good luck with the process. I really needed this approved, so I attached: 1) Medical / Hospital statements 2) A letter explaining why I had to go and the options I considered 3) Letter from family members stating why I was the only option. Perhaps it was more detailed from what they need, but I needed to have this approved.
  11. I had a request approved because my father was very sick and everyone in the family is 60+ years old, as it was riskier for them due to covid, I decided to go the and take care of him after a surgery. If you go overseas, consider that coming back to Australia can be very challenging, there is a travel cap in place, and tickets are cancelled by airlines very frequently, that even includes cancellations for tickets in the business class.
