  1. I have been living here for a few months, I am originally from an European country and my life is really boring. I am in my early thirty and we moved in Sydney with my Aussie partner, she has her family and friends here. For her, life is pretty fine. I work for a relatively small company with only a dozen of people in our office and I spend 100% of my time in front of a computer. With Covid, I work mostly from home and I rarely see my colleagues. We are all quite different, they all are Australians and live their life with their partners/kids etc. It doesn’t look like any of them could become an “out of work” friend… I literally have no friend or family within thousands of kilometres around, the only person I talk to (irl) is my partner. I used to have a lot of friends before moving here and it’s quite depressing to be on the other side of the spectrum. My partner told me to join clubs but I don’t even know which ones, where etc. Beside working, I only go to the gym a few times a week, which is quite a lonely sport. I am not sure really why I am posting here but it would be interesting to hear how other foreigners manage loneliness and a boring life. I don’t feel homesick, just bored. Thanks.
  2. Is this the famous canzuk that everybody talks about and that was supposed to make the UK, the master of the world?
  3. Thanks. You think it is not necessary at all to use an agent? My partner wants to use one as she thinks that will avoid being bumped. Can you get bumped on the due day or do you usually know in advance?
  4. Hi there, I have heard that it is really complicated to fly to Australia even if you have a visa/exemption as airlines kick people off the flight before departure. I was told that booking with a travel agent would minimize the risk of being left stranded at the airport. Do you have any recommendation for those who used one? If you didn't use one, did you find it difficult to fly by yourself? Which airlines did you use? Many thanks.
  5. I will be moving to Australia just before I turn 32. I have heard that age discrimination is a big thing there. I am not someone who has really big skills as well. I work in the digital industry as an sales/account manager and I don't have much work experience (only a few years as I slacked during my studies and spent lots of time travelling). My partner is australian and I am excited to settle in her country but I am worry that it will be a big struggle for me in terms of job. Anyone else who moved to Australia in their thirties with no particular skills? Cheers.
  6. Not in the country I was born. The only way to get issue a birth certificate would be to start a judicial procedure that could take years.
  7. Hi, I was asked to complete the form 80. At the question, have you ever had a previous passport I didn't pay attention and I ticked no. I actually had a few previous passports (from the same country, just expired old ones). How can I correct that? Is it too late and I am going to be denied for that? I have contacted my agent but they are on holiday and won't do anything until the 4/01... I can't contact the CO myself either. Any ideas on how I could potentially fix that error? Thanks,
  8. Thanks. I will submit these documents once they are translated. However the RFI stipulate that I must obtain my "original" birth certificate even if it doesn't exist.
  9. Hi there, I am french citizen born oversea in a foreign country where my birth was never declared. I was only declared at the French consulate (mistake from my parents as they probably should have declared my birth to the local authorities). Now, I have received an RFI that stipulates that I must provide this birth certificate... Problem is, this document doesn't exist. I only have my french birth certificate issued from the consulate, my birth declaration from the hospital, my health book and my french family booklet. I am trying to contact the consulate of my birth country but they ignore me... Is there any solution...? I have plenty of documents which prove my identity, the identity of my parents and my place of birth but not the official birth certificate from birth country. We are absolutely desperate, and I am paying for the mistake of my parents. Anyone that could tell us what we could do, if there is any hope possible? What happens if you cannot satisfy an RFI? Also, I was also asked to complete the form 80. I have multiple gaps with unemployment period. Is this frowned up? Thanks,
