  1. So good to hear it has all worked out for you Island. Dogtainers seem to be getting good reviews during all this chaos.
  2. Thanks Home & Happy. We are excited to be returning.
  3. Thanks so much for this Joanne. It's great to know the expected processes. Interesting about the quarantine as well! We live in an area here that hasn't seen a single case of COVID with no one wearing masks etc so we too will find the transition to the UK quite confronting I'm sure. Hope all goes well re. settling in over the coming months.
  4. as previously feared people are now being bumped from flights coming out of Australia. It would be helpful if anyone that has recently successfully travelled to the UK from Australia keep us posted here on which airlines are proving to be the most reliable over the coming months and indeed which to avoid. Any unreliability in flights makes moving with pets almost impossible. All relevant info most appreciated.
  5. oh how awful for you all. Is it worth trying to fly your dog out from another airport/state where there are possibly less pets travelling? It would no doubt cost a fair bit to transport your dog domestically first but might be worth exploring. Also from the point of view of resitricted arrivals in London, could you look at Manchester or another UK airport where again there may be less arrivals.
  6. Hi Island, Just wondering how you got on. Did you manage to sort everything out in the end?
  7. Yes I believe you are right Chortlepuss I was wondering / hoping If there might be a clause allowing a crossover period if our current home is actually on the market or if an offer has been made and we are in the middle of selling.
  8. Thanks to you both for your feedback. It may not happen but if something we like does come up soon we are familiar with the area we are looking in and having family on hand to view properties etc. I am just not clear on the possible financial implications re. A crossover in 2 primary residences while trying to sell our current house here.
  9. Hi, We are returning to Scotland in January and are looking to buy a house. we are aiming to put our house here on the market this month. if we see a house in Scotland that we would like to buy before we sell our home here and before we actually move will there be any tax implications in either country? any advice most welcome, thank you.
  10. oh dear, this is what we are afraid of. How incredibly stressful for you. I do hope it all works out ok. With one month's notice I would have thought the company would have confirmed a date for you, it's a bit off of them to take your deposit and not then confirm a date. We were told earlier in the year that the issue of arriving within a few days of your pet is a customs issue and is applicable to all flights? We need to drive for 9 hours to get to the airport when we go so planning our exit to a T is pretty important and I feel your pain. Wishing you much luck Island
  11. Hi James, We are in a similar position in having postponed our departure from July. I have found a facebook page which is primarily for people discussing exemptions (which we will need) but from reading through it the following is clear: All flights with Emirates (via Dubai), Etihad (via Abu Dhabi) & Qatar (via Doha) appear to be full from Sydney then the onwards flights from those destinations much less so. Emirates & Etihad require you to present a negative COVID test before checking in which has to be done no more than 96hrs prior. No-one at all has mentioned being bumped off any flights etc You need to wear a mask and Qatar are providing each passenger with face shields to be worn on top of those masks (except when eating!) The Facebook page is Travel Exemption Australia - Travelban COVID19 We are not due to leave until January now so any more info you come across or anything unusual you experience when you travel in November would be most welcome!
  12. Yes, I was just wondering though, if it turns out that there are limited numbers of people travelling out of Australia, have the same issues have been arising in the opposite direction?
  13. Hi, we are also moving back permanently in January. Do you know how long your exemption is valid for as we too are wondering how far in advance to apply? I'm also wondering about flight prices as there are so many horror stories about Aussies trying to get back here and getting bumped off their economy seats for business class?
