  1. I understand the reciprocal but under "if you have applied for a Parents visa" following your link it reads "you can't enrol if youve applied for an 804 or 103 parent visa", you can enrol if you have a permanent subclass 143 or 864".
  2. According to the visa office yes but medicare site says 804 holders are not entitled. Why is it all so conflicting.?
  3. I even phoned the relevant office to see if our residency was still live as we had medicare cards. They told us if we didnt have Australian passports because they would have insisted on that, they didnt at the time, then we are not. Shame.
  4. I have contacted him via the forum but as yet no response that I can see.
  5. My present prescription would be $70 a month at the moment but it all adds up over the years. Apartments are ok but the body Corp here is $15000 upwards a year if they have facilities and if they donf they are old and tiny with no outdoor space unfortunately.
  6. Mira agent in Robina Troy Migration. recomended.
  7. Is anyone aware what medicare entitlement is granted on the 804 and/or the 864. This 3extra tax is crushing. Now wondering if we should consider buying property in our son's names to avoid all extra penalties but not sure of the ramifications of that.
  8. According to Home affairs website 804 and 864 WE would be entitled to Medicare on either Visa. However I believe we would pay for Private Medical to cover the gap. Interestingly we went to Medicare to register for insurance purposes and they say we are still on the system from the 80s. We told them we did not live here and had not for 30 years but she issued cards!!
  9. Thank you. We are hoping for NSW but interesting to read. However I think there may be an annual threshold and at the moment any land over and above 700k ish is liable- I believe. We are trying to find an accountant and/or a solicitor to advise urgently plus we have asked the visa agent. We had a one hour paid consultation with him last week. We may have to pay again.
  10. He says if we applied for that one first and it was refused it would prevent us from being able to apply for the 804 for which is why he suggests we do the 804 first and might even prevent us from coming here on an annual basis to be with our children as once you have had a visa refusal they can continue to refuse you
  11. This is from my wife. How strange. I am happier thinking long term than short. Long term I would live here. Short term I am so confused and distraught I want my home but we would lose the opportunity to then live here. But working out the costs to actually make the move is crippling too . It comes to over $300,000 just to pay stamp duty, shipping, agents, estate agents firb, private medical, tablets etc etc. Tgats a lot of our capital gone! I too wish someone would knock me out and wake me up in the right place all done and dusted.
  12. We have discussed that with the visa agent and normally if you have been away from Australia for more than 5 years it is generally not possible however because the circumstances that took us home and kept us there were more or less beyond our control they think we might have slight chance but we would have to put in for the 804 or 864 first
  13. Hi. We lived in Perth in the 80s but family ties and family illness took us and our 2 sons back. We loved it and have done ever since - till today's problem. Our sons decided to return here a few years back and now we spend our time and money travelling to and fro to see them and the grandchildren. Exhausting and expensive. We absolutely love the lifestyle on the Gold Coast and are still here now due to covid. We are contemplating applying to stay BUT 60 odd years of friends over in UK coupled with the proximity to France Italy etc and no financial concerns versus the financial implications here are crippling our decision. Yes its wonderful being with our boys but should we put ourselves in a dodgy financial place to achieve it. Our house in the UK is on the beach which is wonderful but winters are sometimes long. Not so harsh but long. However with the different seasons which are beautiful and the atmosphere of xmas etc life can be good. Your children could be like ours and have a grammar school education for free and the NHS has been wonderful with every member of our family.
  14. Hi can you answer this question please. If we are on an 804 or 864 bridging visa buying a house here I know we have to have FIRB permission but in NSW would we have to pay annual land tax and sur charges if it is our only home and we reside in it all the time.
  15. Thank you. It is so hard it is keeping us awake plus we would have the added stress of selling our uk home from here. Anyone know of anyone ever having done that?
  16. We are in contact with an Australian Mira agent but they are visa agents and do not have knowledge of property laws.
  17. As i understand it the grant of the 804 is up to 30 years and the 864 about 5 years so until then we would be bridging. The medical isn't too much of an issue as its reciprocal. It's all the land tax and surcharges in addition to extra stamp duty that is crippling.
  18. So they are on 804 but its working out to be expensive. No senior discount card? No travel discount? Have to have private medical? Do you know of any other expenses because of their choice of visa?
  19. Are your parents treated as temporary and do they pay those annual charges?
  20. Was planning to live here permanently. Are you saying people on 804 or 864 are temporary but still charged land tax and surcharge fees.
  21. Yes we are in Australia but all this confusion is making us wonder if we could actually afford to live here. Hence the flight cancellations. Temporary/foreign/permanent?? All too much some days.
