  1. Hi Eliza, Thanks for reaching out to me. I would be happy to explore whether I can assist you - and certainly (fingers crossed) you would hope that in a couple of years the international borders will reopen, which will make the move far more accessible. Can you please email me on ross@sugarmangroup.com.au - just give me a summary/flavour of your approximate plans, any questions you have etc, and I can reply accordingly? Look forward to hearing from you Many thanks Ross
  2. Hi Iola, I am from the UK myself and moved over to Sydney in late 2018, now working as a recruitment consultant to assist OTs with work across Australia. So hopefully I can be a good sounding board for any questions you may have Obviously with the strict border controls it makes plans to emigrate tricky at the moment. The first two options that spring to mind which are available to you, would be either a Skilled Visa (189. 190 or 491) or by gaining sponsorship by an employer (186, 482 or 494). Obviously the skilled visa gives you more flexibility to choose your own employer, but on the flip side you are having to pay the visa in full yourself in that instance. If you wish to explore further or have any other questions then feel free to post (email removed by admin as per forum rules) Good luck and I look forward to hearing how you go :) Thanks Ross
  3. Hi Jade, Lovely to hear from you and I'm still assisting and guiding Allied Health Professionals in your position. How about your PM me with your queries and I will reply accordingly? To help guide you on finance and visa, I would need to be more familiar with your age and how long you intend to come to Australia for, e.g. would it be a 1-2 year plan, or do you see this as permanent or long-term? Look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks Ross
  4. Hi guys, I found this thread this afternoon whilst trying to double check the exact cost of AHPRA registration for an OT friend of mine based in the Midlands back in the UK, considering a move over to Melbourne later this year. I work at Sugarman Australia and specifically with OTs seeking work for an Australian organisation. I am from the UK myself and worked in Sugarman's London office between 2011-2018 assisting OTs for work in the NHS and private sectors. I must say, compared to the Aussies I worked with in London, their wait of (on average) 5 months for their (full) HCPC application isn't half as frustrating as I used to bemoan on their behalf - the AHPRA registration for overseas applicants is much trickier and harder to navigate. I would like to think I can be helpful/useful in helping OTs explore options in Australia who require assistance with limited AHPRA registrations/sponsorship visas. We work with organisations that will definitely consider British applicants with these profiles, but otherwise at the very least I would be very happy to share some feedback/tips to hopefully provide some clarity to give you some peace of mind that it is not as challenging as you'd maybe first feared. So give me a shout if you would like further info/guidance! Thanks Ross
