  1. Thanks rammygirl.

i had an initial screening interview with HSBC expat mortgages which was successful but I’ve got to wait three weeks before I can meet with an actual mortgage person and process the application. But as you say, expat mortgages have significant higher rates than the UK high street

  2. Hi,

we currently own a home in the UK and we are living in Oz. We currently have a resident mortgage on our home with a permission to let agreed by our mortgage provider. Our fixed rate period is due to expire soon and our mortgage is about to get really expensive. Can anyone recommend an expat mortgage company that doesn’t require you to work for a multinational company?

    thanks,

    joe

  3. RFI on Friday evening! Relieved it's eventually been looked at, but so frustrated that they need further info!
1/ Police check was out of date by one week, so need another
2/ Been together 15 years, married 10 next year and provided a full timeline with supporting docs, but they want evidence from 2 specific time frames now!
3/ And an addiditional 888 form.
2 and 3 I can provide straight away, but waiting game on the police certificate.
I have this ideal dream that if I get them uploaded within 10days, that the visa will be approved before we fly on the 14th Jan......I know, I'm dreaming lol
We have 600 approved for 12 months, but the full visa would be the icing on the cake
They did mention the further detail on relationship is for the 100 though, so at least that's positive, we should be permanent visa instead of 309

Fingers crossed you get it before the 14th Jan! Can I ask when you applied?
  4. I can’t quite believe it but i’ve received my golden e-mail. [emoji846][emoji322]🥳 I was up at 3am feeding  my baby when the e-mail came through from our agent.
Both 309 and 100 granted at same time. Entry needs to be made before 20th November 2020.

We applied 3rd December 2018 through agent. Medical and Police checks done in March 2019. We had absolutely no contact or RFI’s except from the grant. We have been together for 8 years (married for 2) with 3 kids who are all Aussie citizens.

Hope the last of the 2018 applicants have all received their grants now.

    Congratulations

  5. Hi all,
I lodged my application in Spain (processed in London) on 04 March 2019 - have uploaded all requirements. Had no RFI so still waiting (not very patiently anymore!!).
Glad to hear that they are processing some of the Jan applications, hopefully that means March isn't too far away. Hubby is now in Australia on a tourist visa, but that expires in march 2020 so I'm really hoping his 309/100 is granted before then.

Hi, you’re on a similar timeline to us. We applied 19th March 2019. We also have heard nothing at all. Fingers crossed for everyone.
  6. We have 2 separate IMMI accounts. All evidence and attachments etc are upload on my partners account (the applicant). The bulk is uploaded under his name/tab on his account, and any documents specific to me only (my birth certificate, police clearance etc) is uploaded under my name/tab (the sponsor). I have asked this question before and had the advice that it is okay to upload evidence this way.
However I still think you need to have separate IMMI accounts. You use the TRN (reference number) from the applicants account to link to the sponsors account. And then as the sponsor you have to complete the online application - Sponsorship for a partner to migrate to Australia (equivalent to form 40sp I think, but online not an actual form?). This is another series of questions, similar to what would have been answered when the applicant created their account but obviously this time relating to the sponsor instead. Essentially it is the sponsor's application..
Someone with more knowledge feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but that is my understanding of it!

    Think you are spot on!

  7. Hi all,
Been stalking this for a while! It’s giving me some kind of vague timeline for our visa arriving which has improved my mental state considerably! 🤣
We applied 3rd March 2019 and uploaded police checks and medical by beginning of July.
    Heard nothing as yet. Obvs.
just seeing that others seem to have separate logins for the sponsor (me) and the applicant (my husband). Ours seem to be linked to the same account. My sponsor section is like a tab with my name on it when you click on the application. Have I gone horribly wrong? I’ve uploaded all of my stuff in there.
Hope someone can shed some light on this 🧐
Hoping to go in January regardless of visa as we have sold our flat already and will be nomads from November!
    X

    Hi,

Your timeline is similar to mine. I applied on 19th March, front loaded everything including medical and police checks but I’ve heard nothing. My wife and I have separate immi accounts and they appear to be linked in the same way as yours.

    Fingers crossed!
  8. Hi JoeMcC,
Don't listen to the above comments from the same old people who keep saying accross this forumn that there aren't opportunities to do XYZ.
Victoria Police are in the middle of 3000 officer recruitment drive and yes, they offer a prior policing experience seperate recruitment as long as you have PR.
I'm in the middle of the process at the moment and have the final interviews next week.
You are allowed to nominate posting locations and you will likely get a metro posting as this is where they are increasing the numbers. Alot of country locations are actually oversubscribed and have long waiting lists. There are some very rural locations that need filling but that is done by a ballott and prior experience officers are exempt from this ballot process.

They honour your service and rank so will enter at the equivalent pay point. If you email the alternative employment unit they will send you a information booklet.
I am a DC from Bristol with 10 years service and recently moved to Melbourne on the back of my wifes visa, who is a teacher ( which according to the same lot above, is also impossible to achieve).
pm me on here if you need any other info.
    Cheers

    Hi Bluebird,

Thanks for replying to my message. It’s great to hear from someone in a similar position. Good luck next week. I’ll PM you.

    Thanks
  9. My wife’s from Sydney and the purpose of our move is to be near her family as she did move to the UK 12 years ago to be near mine. However, she’s up for living in Melbourne as there are some really good career choices for her there and I can get some recognition of my UK police service with Victoria police. I was just wandering if anyone who was a UK police officer has now joined NSW police and how they found that experience?

All state police forces only require PR but the AFP you have to be a citizen.

  10. I’ve been a UK police officer for 16 years. I’m now a Detective Sergeant and run my own unit on specialist crime in the Met police. 10 years ago I married an Aussie and she now wants to go home. She’s from Sydney, NSW, the only state that doesn’t recognise UK police experience. Joining NSW will mean starting as a new recruit. I can stomach going back into uniform and taking a demotion but I’m not sure I can start at the very bottom again. Has anyone out there done this??

  11. Yes we feel the same. So much money! The processing times are also disheartening, now 15-20 months. Some have said you may have to repeat the medical if visa isn’t granted within 12 months. Hope this isn’t true. Submitted our application on 19th March - we have heard nothing.
