I'm a breast radiographer and mammography had to stop during the peak of covid so both my employer and I detailed how many women had gone without a mammogram during this period and I detailed how this could affect people ie missed cancers etc. In my letter I went into more detail about my job role etc. Has OT been stopped or services reduced during covid in aus? Having you over would mean more rehab for Australian clients
Thanks, Lauram1. That’s a good idea! Yes I think they have a backlog of people waiting for reviews in this specific job. Will need to do a bit of research. Good of luck with everything!

I got a letter from my employer saying why they needed me over, my degree and post grad certificates to show I was actually qualified for the job and I wrote a letter with more detail as to why my job is critical to Australia
That’s great news! I hope you don’t mind me asking a question about the exemption documents. I’m putting together an exemption request currently. With your letter re: job being critical, did you specify how it related to Covid? Or wasn’t that required? As I would struggle with that aspect. I’m an occupational therapist with job offer for rehabilitation of clients (Adults and children) in the community.

This is what I came across and it just says 'critical skill - medical'. Also it is unclear if those given exemptions had pre-existing visas.
Thanks, lee2. Very frustrating all round.

It appears that of the few travel exemptions grated to enter Australia, many are for Medical occupations working in critical sectors.
Would allied health professionals be included in this grouping?

Yes ... I am still seeing permanent visas being granted to offshore applicants. Some quite quickly.
I am waiting on a 489 for over 8 months now. Do you think it’s likely they will start processing offshore soon? Thanks.

More so to increase workforce in the current pandemic.
I wonder what is happening to the applicants waiting for the decision from the leftover 489 visa? 491 applicants seem to be getting decisions much quicker and they are basically the same visa with a few changes. Trying to remain positive as at least it’s moving in right direction.

I used Emergico and they were excellent.

Any idea if 489 visa applications are still being processed? I know the coronavirus is having an enormous impact, but just wanted to find out if anyone else is still waiting on a decision? Are they just concentrating on onshore applicants? Thanks.

Because the of COVID-19 immi stop processing offshore application or they still processing ? Any news guys
My migrant agent said they appear to be prioritising onshore applications. But unclear at this stage whether they have completely stopped working on offshore ones.

Thought I’d read age 50 Somewhere? That’s so sad and a big life lesson. I didn’t go as planned when my daughter was 6 as my Mum got Parkinson’s disease. Thank you for the replies xx
Could you try and get employment and sponsored that way? You should try and speak to a migrant agent to see if they have any suggestions for you and your daughter. I don’t think New Zealand have 45 as the cut off. Maybe it’s worth considering. Good luck x

There was a call held between various industry groups and the relevant minister to discuss visa implications of the “ban” and on this matter we were informed that people “who have been granted a permanent visa offshore are still permitted to enter Australia, even where they have not previously been to this country.”
But this doesn’t include 491 and 489 visa holders, does it?

That’s really helpful. Thanks for that. Just holding onto the thought that a decision will be made soon for us. Best of luck.

I’m still waiting since Oct. The website says 6 to 11 months now. Rather than 7 to 10 months a few weeks back. Don’t really know what that means.
-
Yes, E2 was really helpful and just getting use to the format of the test helped to know what was coming on the day.

It's only Qantas that has made this announcement. They say it's temporary (and apparently it only applies to new bookings, not those that have already been made) and it's only been made in the last few hours (their website doesn't even look as if it's been updated - the news is all from the media).
Ok, thanks. I will call the shipping company on Monday and find out.

Really? I have a French bulldog who I want to bring to Australia with me. Quantas was the airline mentioned in the quote. Do you know if other airlines will take that breed?
-
I have postgrad dip too and it selected my degree as highest which is unrelated to my job. Think it’s due to length of course? Got an invite. Good luck!

Hi, just wanted to ask if anyone had organised these vaccinations beforehand or does it need to be done in Australia? Thanks.
-
Would definitely agree with doing the PTE. Seems much better! Good luck.

Just wondered how quickly the 489 Tasmania visas are taking now. The website says 9 to 12 months. Curious if others have had them quicker?
Thanks. -
Just heard I got my invite. Delighted!! Hope yours is on the way.

Me neither. I hope they are concentrating on clearly the 489 visas first, but who knows?! It will be over for me as will be too old by mid September. Wishing you lots of luck.
