    Hi Florafilan,

how long did they get back to you? what did you do to make them get back to you?

I have the same issue. I rang centrelink and the girl said they have forwarded my document to the AOS team and i should hear back from them but she doesn't know how long it will take.

Of course they did not get back to me after 3 days.  I called them twice a week later following it up and i was assured that my request for review had been forwarded to AOS team.  I did realise that I did not upload the BG request letter.  So a couple of days later I uploaded the BG documents again together with a "request for review of a decision" form SS351 quoting lodgement ref # through MyGov.  The approval letter came through a few hours later on the same day.  Not sure if that helped but I thought at the time that at least I could provide that request for review form to the immi case officer to prove that Centrelink's last decision was not final.

It is so daunting calling Centrelink. Sorry that you have to go through that too.  Hope they could sort out your application soon.

florafilan forgive me for asking but am I correct in assuming your investment is based in Australia?  Reason I ask is that I was told by a financial advisor (in Australia) that I couldn't unless I was a permanent resident!  Have I maybe missed something?

I'm based in Australia.  Applying CV 143 for my parents.  I am sure you can invest as a foreign investor.  There might be more red tapes to jump through though.  Try a different advisor or maybe an international broker that has Australian presence.

I think you are saying that dividends might be retrospectively determined and backdated to the financial year 2018/19.

IMHO a dividend that was declared in 2018/19 will have been appropriately minuted and the amount ascertained before the end of the tax year.

    Best regards.

True for public companies.  When it comes to a private company especially a SBE, where directors are often also the shareholders and they only require special purpose financials etc etc, it's quit a common practice.  And also there are deemed dividends which can only be determined after year end.

    Best.

I'm not clear - why can't you submit your 2019 tax return?

It is now over 4 months since the end of the 2018/19 tax year.

    Best regards.

Sometimes dividends from related private companies will only be determined when finalising the tax returns for the whole group.  Depending on the complexity of the entities involved, returns for the individuals might be delayed.

thanks a lot, does the my gov letter also have a few days delay?as i saw ur timeline its accepted earlier

It arrived in my inbox on the same date as stated on the letter but I only got a text msg on my phone from mygov saying I have new msg yesterday and that's when I checked.

It's interesting that aos was accepted 3 hours after the request for review was lodged.

Hello, folks who have gone through the AOS application process, would you be able to help me with one of the questions. It asks "What is your current annual taxable income?". Is centerlink looking for income obtained year to date, or are they looking for an estimation of the income over the current financial year? Thanks.

Should be the estimate for the whole year and you will have to be able to prove it to centrelink.

Hi ielectric, As it’s my son and fill that are our sponsors I don’t actually know what the letter looks like but if it has the barcode on it then yes you need to upload that as well. It links the Aos bond to the applicant so without that my Dil was told without the barcode it will not show the bond as being paid. Scary!!

This might be what had happened with my bond lodgement.  I did not upload the invitation letter. 4 calls with centrelink and no one has ever mentioned that could cause issues.  Thought the centrelink unique CRN (customer reference #) would be enough for them to identify the person.

Hello all just reading this about AOS I’m waiting 2 months now to hear from them but my daughter will upload the letter and I will register post a copy as well to the Perth office

You have to go to centrelink in person.  Perth immi office, if that's what you meant, won't know what to do with AOS applications.

Oh no, let's keep.in touch if one of us can solve it we can tell each other. I called 3 times and went in person 2 times they always say will be solved but has been 10 days and nothing. I am going tomorrow again. 😉

I am having the same issue. Received a rejection letter although bond was paid and paperwork was uploaded on time.  Called centrelink twice about this.  First time they promised I would hear back within 3 days and of course I did not and that was 2 weeks ago.  They have requested to have someone on AOS team to call me back the second time I called last week but still nothing.  They did say the application is reopen ed to be reassessed.   What a pain.

  10. So far I've had pleasant experience with Centrelink and started to think they might not be as bad as people made them out to be.  Oh my how bloody wrong was I!  Despite lodging the bank guarantee through mygov and calling the next day confirming receipt and being promised it would be processed in due course, a REJECTION letter turned up in the mailbox today!  Called 10 times before I could get in the queue and with another 30 mins waiting, they couldn't get an explanation other than something had gone wrong and it wasn't processed. The service rep was kind to put an escalation to the case and says I would get correspondence in 3 days.  Let's see how it goes.  Also I've lost count on how many times I've changed my communication preference to receive letters online through mygov (so I would be notified about the rejection a week earlier when it was issued).  But it just doesn't work.

Moral of the story, don't trust centrelink and what they say.  Double or even triple check everything.  Lodge documents both online and in person if you have to and ask for the reference number if you call.

  11. Not too familiar with UK Tax system, but in Australia residency for tax purpose is different to that for immigration purpose.  Temporary visa holders could be tax residents in Australia and be taxed on their worldwide income in Australia.  If you are deemed to be AU tax resident, your rental income will be included in your AU tax return and any foreign tax paid would be available to you as offsets.

Foreign residents will only be only taxed on Australian sourced income but no tax free threshold would apply.

Gains on sale of property for AU tax purpose would be the difference between sale price and the market value when you became AU tax resident.  There are rules available to reduce or disregard the gains depending on your circumstances.  In general, you can only choose to claim the main residence exemption for one property at a time.

  12. I've received the request for payment - see my timeline.

I called up centrelink to confirm receipt of aos application 2 weeks after lodgement.  The centrelink lady confirmed receipt and says they should be giving me a call after the lodgement.  She did something on the account and I received the call/interview the following week.

We’re on tenterhooks waiting to be asked for Aos payment!  Does anyone have any up to date timescale for this?  Will it be a few weeks or a few months.....🥴

My interviewer said the invitation would be sent the following week and it was sent on the following Monday.  From then you have 14 days to get the bank guarantee.  It won't be weeks or months.  Keep an close eye on it.

  14. Thanks Linda.  Bank cheque has been requested so it should be alright.  Just don't like the feeling of leaving things to the last minute.

It was a physical letter.  It turns out that my mygov centrelink communication preference was set to receive communications by post either by default or I changed it myself but I don't recall...   The interviewer did say that if you have a mygov account linked to centrelink the letter would go to mygov inbox.  I would double check the settings on mygov and keep an eye on the mailbox too.

  15. Anyone know how to upload bank guarantee with Centrelink through mygov?  Do I choose "Upload Documents" -> "Other Documents" -> "Financial"?

Was constantly checking mygov inbox for the invitation after the phone interview but the letter arrived in mailbox. And of course I left it in there for a few days. Now I've only got a week to get everything sorted. 😖

The line is always busy & on hold waiting for the line is approximately about 30mins to an hour. So better to ring them at exactly 8am ^^ give them ur crn number & all the detail they ask to confirm ur id ^^ they are very helpful.

Thanks for that.  Very helpful.  Just tried calling twice.  Didn't even get pass the machine...  It just says no agent is available and if I would like to access service now I could go on to MyGov and then it said "Goodbye"  😅 .  I'll try tomorrow at 8

  17. Hi All

I haven't been getting auto replies from parents@homeaffairs.gov.au since December 2018.  Have checked junk box and even tried using different email addresses but with no success. I am not sure what is the issue and worrying that a request for further info might slip through. Has anyone got a progress update for Visa 143?  The application was acknowledged in November 2015.

    Thanks.
