the web says 5-20 months for 75% and 90% respectively, clearly showing that recent applications have been processed rather much quicker than ones that has been in the queue for a long time. you should try your luck and if lucky you can be that 75% that got their visas done in 5 months time.

Thanks . Can I apply RRV without serving 2 yrs? Out of 5
You can, but you still have to demonstrate your ties to australia. Depending on the evidence you provide, they can either give you a 1 year rrv or decline.

Hi @MaggieMay24
thank you for your quick response.
Do I need to spend 2 years in Australia out of 5 yrs? My employer is not paying salary as per the contract. Can still they complain DHA? Can I apply rrv in future?
If you are not treated fairly at work, contact the fair work commission https://www.fwc.gov.au/
they will be able to help you sort it out. If you are found to be treated unfairly, this will be in your favour even if your employer complains to dha.

I've got Ens 186 PR in January 2019.
Unfortunately, for some reason I am leaving Australia permanently
1. What will happen with my PR?
2. Do I need to stay for 2 years continuosly in Australia to retain visa?
3. Can employer remove visa as I am resigning job?
4. I might come again in future, can I work with other company?
5. what if I dont come to australia for 5yrs?
6. What are the options to retain visa for future?
Can someone will answer, much appreciated!! please helpAbove answer gives you all the general info you need.
1. it will remain for 5 years, after that the travel condition will expire and you will need to apply for rrv.2. No. But you will need to demonstrate your ties to aus later to get your rrv.
3. It can happen if they complain but as mentioned above, only sometimes.
4. You can work for any company as long as your visa doesn’t expire or you are able to get rrv. If it expires you will need to apply for another visa that gives you the work rights.
5. Your visa will expire.
6. You need ties to aus, such as having a job, house, etc. then you will be able to apply for rrv.

Can anyone please help me out as i am bit worried. 4 year ago i was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury. And got 200hr of community work and lost my license for 18months. And it shows on my afp. Can this affect on my visa. I mean it was an accident not an intentional crime. Just worried. Thanks heaps in advance.
It will depend how serious the officer will see that as an offence at the time of the decision. Unfortunately immigration is getting tough on character requirements, even kicking people out for their crimes done over 10 years ago. I just hope they view it as a light offence...

@Everyone - My MA received the request from CO under nomination application (not visa application) requesting my licence to prove that I registered broker. This was already provided but MA provided that document in my visa application and not nomination application.
However, my MA said that this happens in IMMI when CO is different for visa application as to nomination application. Bit Frustrating!
What's more interesting is that CO requested the document to be provided in 7 business days. Does this mean they will make the decision in 7 business days?
Yep they will revisit in about that time and make a decision usually. If all the docs are ready hope your MA can submit as part of your nomination as well. Usually the decision will be made based on what they got at the time.

Hi there,
I am applying for my ENS 186 visa. I have completed my PhD in Australia in 5 years. However, I had interruptions in two research quarters. I had to resubmit my thesis for examination. Nonetheless, I finished in more than 5 years. I know if you have studied for more than 5 years in a secondary or higher education institution, you don't have to provide an Englisch proficiency test ( https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/employer-nomination-scheme-186/temporary-residence-transition-stream#Eligibility ).
Does this rule apply to me as well?
Thanks for your help!
I guess it comes down to whether you can show an evidence that you have been a full time student for 5 years (not 4.5 years, not 4 years And 11 months, but 5 full years). If your transcript shows those interruptions and takes a few months out, then they probably make a fuss out of it.

Once a RRV has been granted, does the travel facility period run from the date it is granted or from date you enter Australia..?
From the date it was granted.

You should double check your writing, if you write like that to an immigration officer they probably won’t believe you.

I received correspondence on 3 Sept from the department through my MA asking for additional information like police checks and medical. I have done this and responded by 12 Sept but no information again since then. I am just wondering if anyone here has a similar experience recently. A number of people have suggested that it does not take long to get final grant since nomination is approved but the wait is killing.....
Be patient my friend, it is on its way!

I have received correspondence from the department on 3 Sept to provide police checks and medical before 1 October and I have provided all documents by 12 September. Will the CO still wait till due date before sending any response? Its been a very long wait......
I believe only sometimes they look in between the due date they give you. Normally, they will look after the stated due date (based on experience of many members here).

yes, as long as they don't change the rules.

You will be paying tax as a resident. If you were paying tax as a non-resident, then it will change. But you should note that if you were on a work visa, you probably would have been paying tax as a resident (the term "resident" is different for tax purpose and visa).
seems PR can also get allowance (but doublecheck it yourself): https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/youth-allowance-students-and-australian-apprentices/who-can-get-it
You need to have lived in Aus legally for 4 years, with the last 1 year being a PR. If you were in Aus for 3 or more years before you got PR, then you can apply a year later. Use their calculators online.

As stated above, the waiting time is very random. However, the trend seems to be that new applications nowadays gets picked up quickly. You should prepare your medical I assume you will be asked soon. They are still valid for 12 months so probably worth getting it ready. Good luck!

Saw a news the other day saying they are auto-deporting people with recorded sentences 12 months or more. Guess they are slowly hitting up the notch.

Question
the co asked us more info and we provided to her
now I checked my online application and the status is still “received” and the last update is on February when we have them the medicals check..is that normal that nothing has changed considering that we provided them the documents they asked us ?
Often after submitting the required docs, they look at them within 4 weeks. However, there are cases they do take longer. Why? No one knows... Just have to hang in there!

CITIZENSHIP APPOINTMENT LETTER RECD. - 22ND JULY 2019 FOR 19TH NOV. 2019
RESHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT TO - 2ND SEPTEMBER 2019
PASSED AND CLEARED OUR TEST AND THE STATUS CHANGED FROM RECEIVED TO APPROVED SAME DAY
BUT MY DAUGHTER'S STATUS SHOWS ONLE "RECEIVED"
IS THERE ANYONE ELSE IN THE SAME SITUATION??
CHEERS
I read many people in the same shoes, family members applying together but getting approved in different times. They just ended up waiting for the last member to receive theirs and attended their ceremony.

It is just to get people excited i am sure there is no reality into it unfortunately , it has been over 16 months for me.
They have been processing new applications a lot recently and this is exactly it: to lower the average time taken shown on their site.
it looks good on the CV of whoever is in charge: “I managed to speed up the processing time by X%”, which in fact is just playing with numbers.

I found a list of grounds that visas can get cancelled: http://www.australianmigrationnetwork.com.au/visa-cancellations-possible-cancel-permanent-visa/
I think only relevant one is 140, and it says of if the primary one gets cancelled, they could pursue to cancel the dependent ones. Hope it doesn’t happen.

Hi,
i recently just got my nomination approved.
immigration asked me to do health examination and submit police clearance, i was cleared on both. Now my question is, is there any way that my visa can get refused? If yes, what could possibly be the reason of visa refusal?
thanks
Any problems from your side (health, character, skills etc) can be a reason for a refusal. If police check and medical went fine then only grounds would be your eligibility. I think you should be fine, but you’ll just have to wait and see what they say!

Can anyone suggest how long it can take up to as I added my partner to my 187 visa nomination approved 5 weeks ago. My immi account shows FURTHER ASSESSMENT APPLICANT. Thanks
As pointed out by others above, the waiting period is anyone’s guess. At least it is now showing up on the immi account

I agree with everyone above that the calculator is broken.
The residence requirement from the gov site (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/become-a-citizen/permanent-resident#Eligibility) :
- living in Australia on a valid visa for the past 4 years
- a permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen for the past 12 months
- away from Australia for no more than 12 months in total in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days in total in the past 12 months
It will be the last criteria that you fail as you were away for more than 12 months between July 11, 2015 - July 25, 2016. Your clock reset when you came back on July 26 2016.

If it says “granted” then it is all done. You can double check the status of your visa online, search VEVO to check that.

Hi Guys,
Any help is much appreciate. I am confused on one part of my 186 TRT application. Nomination approved already. I am filling in our part.
What documentation should so submit for “qualification, skills and experience”. Would the following be okay:
1. PhD degree
2. Job contracts (10 years)
Should I also include my CV and publication list?
Should I also put in my undergraduate and Masters degree which are slightly different to my nominated occupation.
Thanks for any help!
I assume you are applying as an academic?
I sent my PhD degree and my previous employment contracts (I also sent my termination notice from my previous employment to prove the duration of work).
I didn’t send my CV or publication list.
I also didn’t have to send any other degrees other than PhD.
The timeline for me was reasonably quick, around 3 months.

I got a car loan within a month of arriving in Aus back in 2018. But because I didn’t have any credit ratings and still in probation, only Macquarie bank gave me a car loan at 10.89%. Now the rates are much better, though since covid they might be a bit more strict.
