Hey guys,
A quick question regarding Stamp duty. We are planning to get a property in QLD. My wife is still on Visa 309. I read somewhere that they consider it as a 'permanent visa' and thus she will not pay an additional duty for being a 'foreigner'. Can you please guide me to an official document or website that states this? I found one from Revenue NSW, but none for QLD.
I am working on updating our documents. My fingers are crossed for you all

Hi EJMac
I am not 100% but here are a few thoughts:
Evidence of first arrival in Australia: The passport that has the stamp when you first entered the country (in case it is different that the one you are currently holding). I think this is the date you entered as well in your application (the day when you started your residence). If you got your first visa stamped on the passport you first entered Australia with, then all good. If not, electronic version, print out the PDF document and bring it with you (and just in case any subsequent visas you got)
You present country of citizenship: You need your current passport (obviously) and maybe your birth certificate translated to English (that got your citizenship)
I suggest you present your evidence one at a time and present the next evidence if requested.
Hopefully this helps

Well, I guess I can just front load it by getting it again, uploading as PoliceCheck2023
For overseas police checks:
If you have not travelled to these countries after you got your last police check, I would recommend waiting till they request it and letting them know that you have not been there and, thus, no further checks are required. You can upload your international movement record as evidence that you have not been there, and thus they are still valid
For AFP: The process is a bit quick right now as they provide a digital option (no need to wait for it to be mailed to you). I recommend waiting

It's almost 20 months I applied my visa on oct 2019 (PMV 300)
RFI -FEB 23
PPC-JAN 2021
MEDICAL EXAMINATION -JAN 2021
Is it compulsory to get the exemption for my visa to be approved
Hey Bany, I believe they no longer process PMV300 as it is a temporary visa. If you can get an exemption, then there is a good chance.

Even i have similar situation to you... I had applied for my visitor visa in March 2020 (thats more than a year now).. and its still showing processing. I had read somewhere that you need to contact home affairs as well as some other organisation - to apply for exemption. They issue the visitor only if the reaons are compelling and compassionate. I am sorry, i cant find the link at the moment (will share it once i find it). I didnt apply for the exemption yet, because i was busy with my work in UAE.
When did you apply for 309? I applied in September 2020 from UAE, but my application is being processed in Amman.
Thanks for your reply.
I applied for PMV300 on 25 August 2019 and got married on 8 October 2020 then changed the visa to 309 on the 25 of December 2020. I think they will not start the count again for the 309 visa change. Visa application from Egypt
I agree with @Marisawright you need to get the exemption for your visa to be processed.

I am waiting for a visitor visa for my wife for >7 months. Currently, we are in our 8th month, which is according to the global processing timeframe is the maximum. Does anyone have any idea how can I push them to finalize the visa? We are waiting for a 309 visa as well (Amman office). Thanks all for your support

I have just applied for an exemption now and have not heard back. I think we need to get an exemption before we apply for visitor visa. I think it makes the process much smoother and easier. I will apply for 600 visa as soon as I get my exemption approved. Will keep you updated of the outcome
Thanks so much Kamila for your support
I forgot to mention that my wife already got the travel exemption before we apply for the visitor visa. They are very slow
I would definitely appreciate your keeping me updated with your status. Thanks

Hi All,
Has anyone here recently flown into Australia? Just looking for a rough flight estimates, I have made couple calls to travel agents here and the options are above AUD 8000
No recent travel (Dec 2020): I paid around $5000, one-way, Cairo-Brisbane, Business class
Recommend that you do not book through an agent. Book directly with the airline. Check google flight for prices, hide separate tickets, select the most common airlines (sadly the expensive ones).

Hi Popdude
when did you apply for 600 and what documents did you submit? Did they give you a reason for not approving your request?

My application was not rejected (yet), just no response
Do you have any experience with this?

Did you get your 600 VISA approved?
No

Does anyone have any experience with changing the application from PMV300 to 309? Processing time between 309 lodgement and approval?
Situation:
Sponsor: Permanent resident
Applicant: Egyptian passport
Agent: Yes
Office: Cairo office
DOL PMV300: 25 August 2019
Case-officer assigned/medical and biometrics requested: 02 Septmber 2019 and submitted 17 September 2019
COVID hit, we decided to get married as she is not exempt to enter the country
Change to 309 visa: 28 October 2020
Medical and biometrics requested: 10 December 2020
We lodged a visitor visa 600 as well on the 10 of November, with the hope that she can travel to Australia and granted the 309 visa onshore (as per the updated regulations)
Biometrics provided for Visa 600: 20 of November
Any feedback is helpful
Thanks all
