Thanks I’ve a good couple of weeks to wait yet then. Did you do your medicals straight away? Best of luck and I’m sure it will come soon!

You are welcome and thanks, best of luck too and to all of us. I did mine after nomination was approved, and on the same day we were doing the medicals (scheduled them beforehand), we were sent the request from the immigration to do the medicals. Hoping we receive a positive reply soon - have a wedding to plan, invites, trips to organize,... wife is looking at dresses (traditional kimono wedding) so we kind of focus our attention on other things until we hear hopefully good news 🙂

This happened to me as well, was 42 days after I submitted them my nomination and visa was approved. Had me nervous but then got an email out fo the blue from my MA

I am in same situation at the moment - 35 days since medicals were requested and waiting to hear good news any day now hopefully. To all of us waiting - patience and stay positive as people mentioned above. As an old project management saying goes - takes 9 months for a baby, and if you have 9 mothers you won't have the baby in 1 month.

    Hi everyone,

We did our medicals today. They informed us they will submit the results to immi tomorrow as long as our blood tests come back ok in the morning.

How long does it normally take for immi to get back to you when the medicals are submitted?

    Thanks 😊

Hard to say - i've asked the same question before and today was 28th day since we were asked for medicals. Sometimes it's before the 28 days and sometimes a little bit after the 28 days they provide you to respond to their request. I checked immi today like 10 times :)

PR requires minimum 12 month defacto relationship unlike temporary resident (457 / 482)  which is 6 months

You can register your relationship and I believe this could be waiver of the 12 months defacto. It costs about 200$ i think and you get a nice looking certificate. Best to double check with MA as i might be wrong.

@Esad.I That's a real tough one and I don't think anyone would be able to answer that accurately for you. Especially as it all depends on the case (each case is different).

If however, all details and documents are updated and nothing else is required - then typically the CO would review the case within 30-40 days of requesting the medical / documents.
    - There has been a case where someone got a response within 1 day from CO (which was unbelievable), so this is more of an observation / something gathered from this forum.

Hoping all goes well and you get the grant soon!

Thanks @Hex, just got medicals completed (was about to enter the clinic and just before that i checked online again and saved myself a question or two:) ) for my partner and hopefully we get the grant soon.

@Esad.I Each time I went for medicals (and from what I've read and seen from others), these details are always updated "within 5 working days".

I did it twice, 1st time - my application was updated within 3 days, 2nd time - it was updated on day 5.
    - The typical process is that BUPA upload direct to your application. Taking up to 3 weeks, I've not heard of before.

Thanks for the prompt reply @Hex and the nurse said up to 5 when we did the tests but yesterday when i called the receptionist, they said " up t 3 weeks" and was a bit hard to believe 🙂

Any observations/guestimates how long might take after medicals are finalized for the visa to be approved?

  7. Hi guys,

Generic question here - how long does it take for the medicals to be sent/uploaded to immi's health assessment section of the portal/website?

Me and my partner did ours on Wednesday and mine were done (health assessment finalized) on the next day where as her's only the X-ray was Completed and the other two are incomplete for about 4-5 days. Called up the clinic and gave me an answer like "immigration can take up to 3 weeks to upload the results" and not sure if this is somewhat true or they (clinic) haven't uploaded them yet. Was interesting moment while doing our medicals - we both came at same time, i got called first and my partner had to wait like an hour or more and now with the results, mine are done where as her's are still incomplete. Any info/feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks

If you had already applied for your visa in May 2018 as per your signature your BVA should have kicked in automatically after your current visa expiration.  I believe a BVC is only relevant if you did not have a substantive visa previously.  However, I may be completely wrong here so please seek a registered MA for further clarification if you are worried.

    Thanks,

Not about me - i still have my 457 valid and got my nomination approved last week.

It's for someone who had tourist visa expiring yesterday and got BVC today, even though form 1005 was submitted on Friday.

Deh, thank you so much for the response.

This is what has happened so far (in case this is useful for someone else):
We responded to the email yesterday explaining the situation. This morning my partner and I went to the immigration office to ask questions about our options. They basically said that the team handling the case is the one that decides if they let us submit a Notification of Incorrect Answers form on the existing application or we have to withdraw and reapply. They also said that we can apply for a refund if we decide to withdrawn and "is reasonable" that they will give us the money back because the case seems like a legitimate human error.

Hopefully is the first option 🤞🏽

Thanks @Sofia, we did the same action - submitted the notification of incorrect answers form and currently waiting for response. They gave us 14 days to respond and patiently waiting since it's been 20 days since we responded.

    @Ndomera 20 days till today.

Guys got glitchy on my application, MA had submitted a nomination with a wrong occupation. Does that mean I am going back in the queue because I have been waiting for 12 for the nomination? Has anyone had a similar experience?

I am in the same situation... same timeline too. Waiting at the moment to get update/decision from immigration if they accept our response on incorrect answers. There's been few cases where MA makes a mistake - some refused but appealed and approved/overruled at tribunal while others have been allowed to correct the 'human' mistake.

  11. @Kaaaaaaaaate gather as many evidences as you can including internet, phone, rent or any kind of bills that has both names. The fact you are both on same 457 is also good enough.

Additionally, you can register your relationship any time and this i believe substitutes the 1 year requirements of a de-facto. Check here: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-register-relationship-nsw

PS: the above is not a legal advice but personal experience. Always double check with a migration expert.

  12. Hi guys,

I have some news to share - good and worrying i guess. Nomination was opened by CO on 23rd of Feb but MA put the wrong ANZSCO code in a hurry and CO sent an email with "procedural fairness" request to comment on the finding giving us 14 days and it's been few days over than that but patiently waiting.

I like my MA and even though it's my life on the paper pretty much, human mistakes happen and if i have to choose again i'd still choose my MA and good thing that all other supporting documents talk about the right role (in my signature on this forum too) except the nomination application. We (MA) immediately submitted form for incorrect answers and some other supporting documents with similar cases like mine where people had made mistakes, COs had refused applications but tribunal has always overruled in favor of the applicant.. long story short, it's not that you shouldn't trust but it's better to verify yours and your MA's documents/actions as human mistakes happen and waiting for a year (or more in other cases) is not a pleasant situation. I am happy and lucky in a way the CO gave us a chance to comment so hoping we get positive news... hopefully.

Good thing is that i have a CO, worrying that there's a minor human mistake :)

If anyone has similar info if you've experienced similar situations, i'd love to hear.

@boo-yaa congrats btw  -  looking forward to hear the rest of the story :)

    @Esad.I

I'll answer as straightforward as possible here:

    - Nomination countdown starts from the nomination lodgement.

    - Visa countdown starts from the visa lodgement (however, this cannot be granted before / without the granting of the above mentinoed nomination)

The order is: Nomination reviewed --> (possible updates requested) -->  Nomination Approved --> Visa reviewed --> (possible updates requested) --> Visa granted.
    - I've excluded the negative possibilities, as we all know what they are (we don't need any negativity) 🙂

    Thanks Hex!

  14. Hi all,

Have a generic (common) question and apologies if it has been answered already (tried the search, no help).

Nomination was submitted mid March and visa application mid May and my question is, from when does the countdown start? Is it from the nomination, application or something else?

    Thanks
