    Hi there,

I am a CIMA and CPA member based in Perth and lived in Sydney for many years.

You should be fine in Melbourne.

The whole "Australian experience" is less of an issue now than it used to be, espeically in Sydney & Melbourne.  The only aspect where it's relevant really is Tax which CIMA people don't do a lot of anyway.

CPA & CIMA have a mutual recogition agreement so you can get CPA by just applying and paying the money.  Not sure if you need to in Melbourne, CIMA is becoming more recognised.  I only got CPA when I moved to Perth.

Have a look at seek.com.au for roles & contact with the main agencies before arriving.

Recruitment tends to be very quiet in December and January (summer hols) pretty much everywhere over here.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Collie, that’s really useful.

ive been keeping my eye out on seek for sometime now and there does seem to be an abundance of jobs available in Melbourne so fingers crossed I can get my foot in the door.

    many thanks

Hi everyone, update from me - I got my email last night that my visa is ready to grant!! Really pleased and relieved.

I've been in Melbourne since March on a 600 visa so need to leave within the next 6 weeks so my visa can be granted.

Hoping more good news this week for others on here.

Fantastic news! Fingers crossed the rest of us January applicants will get grants soon!

yeah we were told to hold off on those till about 6 months after we applied and were advised to not do it when the the immigration account said to as it could expire and have to be done again.  at least this is the info our agent fed back to us after speaking with their immigration contacts at the High Commission

We did medical when we got the rfi from case officer as didn’t want to have to re do if it expired.

  4. My partner is moving back to Australia next week, and we were hoping that my visa would have been granted by now so I was planning on flying with her (or very shortly after).  I know a 600 visa is an option but I would rather wait until my 309/100 comes through.

Should we upload a statement to our visa application explaining the situation in that my partner is going to be living back in Melbourne?  I am unable to use the "update details" button on the sponsor application, which I assume is because we both moved to my parents in July at which point I updated our address details then.

    And help/advice is most appreciated!

  5. What visa has he applied for? I applied in jan for 309 and still waiting, so could be a long await ahead for may applications.

I think there are still some people who lodged in December 3018 that are still waiting?

    getting really trusting indeed!

  6. Hi Everyone,

Currently waiting for my 309/100 to be granted, hopping this will come through soon so I can be over in Melbourne for the end of the year.  I am a CIMA qualified accountant with 15 years UK experience, 9 of those I work for an international oil & gas service company, and 3 years working in the renewables (solar) sector.  I am going to be applying for the CPA qualification once I have moved to oz.

Just wondering if there are any other Brits on here that are qualified accountants, who now live in Oz, what was your experience like in getting a job?  I know that not having experience in Australia is going to be an issue, but hoping that my international experience will help (I was the accountant for a Singaporean company for 2 years).

Every time I do a job search it seems like there is an abundance of Senior Accountant / Management accountant / Financial Controller based roles in Melbourne.  Has anyone else been successful in landing any of these types of jobs?

    Many Thanks,

    Hi everyone

just want to jump on here to share my anxiety ha! Applied through London, together 7 years, 3 years married and a 2yo kiddo with Aus citizenship. Applied in Jan/2019, RFI in June and no contact anymore. Going insane is an understatement!

We have the same timeline as you, really hoping we hear something asap. Fingers crossed for us all 🤞

Yes me . Rfi 25/05 and uploaded fairly quickly now nothing .  Getting really anxious about it all now 😞

We had a RFI on 24/05 and uploaded the requested medical within 2 weeks and have heard nothing since, we applied Jan 16th. Really hoping we hear something soon. We have been keeping our immi account updated with photos from various weekends away etc...

Seems like the November applications on this thread have all gone through, so hoping they are onto December applications now, then hopefully January applications next. Not sure if there are any December applications on here? May be the reason it seems like not much is moving....

My Aussie partner is flying back to Melbourne at the end of Oct, so really hoping I hear something by then!

    Hi,

joining this thread for a bit of support.

Applied for 309/100 London/ offshore end Jan 2019. Front loaded application.

RFI husbands - Australian police check. Uploaded end July.

    Waiting. Waiting. It’s torture!

You have a similar timeline to us... Hopefully we don't have too much longer to wait! 🤞

When did you get your RFI?

Just uploaded and pressed the confirm button at the bottom to see this message on the next page

"Your update was successful. The application will be assigned for processing as soon as possible in line with departmental priorities."

fingers crossed like everyone is saying that this doesn't go to the back of the big queue. Can see a bit of a delay due to the change of government and financial year that appears to have put at least a month delay on things

Hopefully we have some grants this week, last week was v quiet!

Out of curiosity, what is the processing office for your visa? It should say a the bottom of your RFI email. Ours is London, and I'm curious as to which countries move quicker than others...

I am now at 8 month mark waiting and still no RFIs. All medicals and police checks done.  I have been doing long distance with my husband as he had already moved to Oz when the application was lodged offshore. Is there any merit in uploading further support for ongoing relationship to preempt any queries about last 8 months? (I.ep trips to see each other, joint bank account opened etc).

Does the fact we have now been doing distance reset the clock so i probably will only be granted temp and not permanent visa...?

I am now getting really antsy just waiting , unable to make plans and not seeing any movement in application so now completely overthinking what has gone wrong with my application etc.

Never thought that most of my first year of marriage would be spent at opposite parts of the world.

We have just uploaded new joint bank statements, any photos or e-mail exchanges between us both and other parties as each month passes by, rationale being that more information can't hurt our application.

Im not sure on the temp visa bit though, I am not sure if I will be granted a permanent or temp visa myself, although at this point I would just like a visa so we can get on with our plans, regardless of 309 or 100.

Fingers crossed we all start seeing grants soon.

    Hi all,

I submitted my 309/100 in early April 2019 in London. Submitted police checks and evidence in April but haven’t submitted health checks.

Has anyone heard anything from submitting in London? No update from me.

    Em

We submitted from London in January 2019 with front loaded application other than medical, received RFI for medial in May which was uploaded in June.  Not heard anything since.  Think I'm starting to go slightly insane with all the waiting!

Hopefully this will start moving for all of you guys now, your all amazing people and deserve to be granted emoji7.pngemoji7.png

Amazing - How exciting for you!!😀 When are you planning to move over?

Hopefully we get a flurry of golden tickets now. We submitted medicals over 5 weeks ago after a RFI and not heard a single thing since!

I feel exactly the same! I don't mind waiting when I see that something is happening, but right now it's just dead quiet...

I hope it picks up soon, cause I'm already checking my immi account every hour or so!

I'm planning to go to Canberra around Dec/Jan and I hope my visa will be ready by then.

I guess we all need to be patient and wait and see.

In the same boat! RPI for medial which was uploaded to my account on June.  Hoping to be in Melbourne by the end of November, so really hope we get the visa through before then!
