i messaged them that I need a hecs loan to progress with my nursing. It also made me get my 801 in 5 months as they sped it up when I did my nursing assistant course. Now I’m at uni and paying my domestic fees but I wanted to put them on hecs which is what I told them 26th July the next ceremony is September. So you should be invited two months after me. I got the invite 3 weeks ago.
Hello @Chelsearoxanna
May I ask which council are you from? And was it a virtual ceremony that was given to you?
Thanks

Just an update for people in Cumberland Council.
"On 7 June, 450 people from 42 nationalities will become citizens. They’re aged 3 to 62 years and in 61 family groups. Up to 600 people will become citizens on 28 June. "
Hello @MNB
Do you belong to Cumberland Council? Just wondering if you got an invitation for this ceremony?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a good weekend!
Just wondering if anyone has heard from Cumberland NSW council for their citizenship ceremony?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Anyone experienced changing address while the citizenship visa was lodged? Would you know if the council for the citizenship ceremony will automatically be changed in reference to the new address or will it be the same council as the old address?
Thanks!

Hey Champs,
I am considering changing my given name officially, I was wondering if someone has gone through this process and can shed some light please.
Shall I change my name after cermony or before cermony, currnently my application is on approved status and awaiting cermony.
thanks
Hi @Zayn
I am in the same situation and I asked this question when I took the Citizenship exam. The officer suggested we change the name after the certificate is issued, but before we apply for new passport. Basically, you will have two certificates - one with old name and one with new name. But for passport, since it is also more expensive to get, you just want to request for one passport with the new name already.
Hope that helps

I emailed on the virtual ceremony email from this forum on 19 March and they sent me invitation on 23 March for ceremony on 30 March 2021. (virtual.ceremony.nsw@homeaffairs.gov.au)
Hi @Saver
If you don't mind, may I ask for the reason you provided for the virtual ceremony request? I also did the same however, no one replied back...
Thanks!

Hey @vzdike,
Your application is in NSW? :) That seems to be quick! I lodged mine 3 days after you.
When did you receive the request for test/interview?
Thank you :)

We are on the same boat with you, did our test yesterday and just hoping a miracle happens and we become citizens before the home builder grant expires. We actualy asked for a virtual ceremony when we were asked if we want one, our application still not approved though yet.
@coquette Oh that's good to hear! May I ask when and where you lodged yours?
Still keeping my fingers crossed! I honestly don't mind doing online ceremony now tbh. I just want to be eligible for the homebuilder grant lol

Hello @dodziu
According to Revenue NSW, only citizens are eligible. See this link: https://treasury.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-06/Fact_sheet_HomeBuilder_0.pdf

Hey
Original UK citizen
i thought I’d give my timeline as I just had my virtual ceremony last week. I was very lucky with how quickly mine all processed:
Applied for citizenship: 14th Jan 2020
Test Date: 11th March 2020 (rescheduled from May). Approved same day.
I called Home Affairs in July to follow up on virtual ceremonies as may need to leave the country in Oct. Told to email to request which I did.
Email received 31st July with ceremony dateVirtual Ceremony: 6th August 2020 - finalised same day.
Currently awaiting certificate in post.
Sometimes following up helps. Good luck all
Hello @Britralian
Congratulations! May I ask what state did you apply?

Nobody can say for certain but I don’t think it’s very likely.
I submitted in June 2019, had my test booked for April 2020, that was cancelled because of Covid and they haven’t started tests again in NSW since, meaning there’s quite a backlog.Thank you @Danny842003
Yes, I understand. It would be a long shot
Just hoping the situation gets better soon! Hope all of you are

Hey @cams326
We are hoping and praying for the same too lodged end of June haven't heard anything yet.
Hi @tt2
I do hope they process the applications sooner since Australia is currently encouraging people to buy homes now. I'll try to give them a call and see. Nothing to lose anyway. I'll keep you posted here.

Hi everyone,
I lodged my citizenship a few weeks ago. I am just wondering if there is anyone's application here that was processed quicker than expected? I am kind of hoping to still be able to get the $25K grant from government if there is any chance the citizenship will be granted this year.
Thank you all

@cams326 Congratulations to you!!! So happy seeing lots of PR Grants today.
Just wondering please, when you withdraw your previous 186 Visa application, were you able to get refund or do you have to pay again for new application?
Thank you!
Hi Chowder,
No, we did not get refund My employer paid again for the visa application. But it's all worth it in the end.

Hi, welcome into the community!
I'm a recent grant under Marketing Specialist.
My company size is 10 people including myself - turnover is around $2.5 M
Do you know what company documents were not uploaded or missing that Immi refused? These days Immi does not need to request any information for missing documents - it is up to the CO - but seems like they are getting very ruthless! (we had a 186 refusal back in April 2018 - but this was done with my boyfriends company. We then decided to go with 186 under my employer).
Good luck
Hello,
Thank you for your response.
The documents that were not uploaded were Market Research done prior to nomination. In fact, there were so much research done and it is just unfortunate that they were not uploaded.
Our turnover is also good. It should not be a problem. We're just really worried as our visas expire soon and we were kind of hoping to get a positive outcome before our Bridging Visa activates.
Congrats on your visa btw!

Hi guys,
Any Marketing Specialists here applying for 186 TRT? For those who were granted, may I ask what the size of your company is?
I applied in Feb 2018 and got my nomination refused in Jan 2019 due to not meeting training benchmarks. I had to withdraw my visa application. Then, I re-applied the nomination again on the same month and now still waiting.
In addition, my colleague, who also applied for the same visa a few months after I did (Oct 2018 - no training benchmarks needed), got nomination refused as well in Feb 2019. But the reason was because some of the company documents were not uploaded, which is also weird. We do not know if it was our MA's fault or the Immiaccount issue as our MA is confident that documents were uploaded. It is also a bit strange that Immi did not even request for the document and just went straight to refusing the nomination. We re-lodged the nomination and application again and now, both of us still waiting.
Our visas expire in a few months and having 2 nominations refused, I am just wondering maybe company size also matters when applying? Our company has only 5 full time employees, that includes me and my colleague. In this case, we are thinking of other options to lodge another visa but not sure as well. Appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks in advance
