  1. Yes, you have a better chance with a masters degree. But very important is superior English and as said before you will most certainly get an invitation with the 10 extra points to take you up to 75. How many times have you taken PTE?
  2. Thank you all for providing the updated correct skills list link:)
  3. Have a look here, it will give you a rough idea. http://www.visabureau.com/australia/skilled-occupation-list.aspx
  4. Hi, there is no easy way into Oz. All that have made it there have done the hard work of getting degree's or trade skills qualifications and at least a few years work experience in their field before applying to go. Plumbers, Chefs, Auto Electricians, Electricians, Motor Mechanics etc are in big demand in Australia and not to hard to get an apprenticeship in the UK for those trades. Have a look at the skills shortage list. There are amazing members on this forum that can give really good advice but you are going to have to put in the years to get yourself the points needed to go Down Under. So in short, option A is your best bet for both of you.
  5. Hi Hami, A bit off topic but have you done your masters in LA?
  6. Hi, yes we did receive nomination this morning. Just after I replied to your post our MARA agent called to say that we received an invitation. Was losing hope there for a second as we are not far off for losing points for age, turning 40 soon. Feels like an enormous weight has been lifted off our shoulders. Absolutely ecstatic at the moment.
  7. From our personal perspectives it is very bad but unfortunately the way it works is that we do not choose Australia but Australia chooses us. Since the points increase in July many people have had their dream of living down under shattered but from their ( DOHA ) point of view by increasing the threshold they get better candidates so it makes the job market more competitive and they have insure that the labour pool is highly skilled. We did PTE 4 times to get the extra points so just study and do it and you will get an invite.
  8. Hi, are you using the services of a MARA agent? Based on all the data released by DOHA there has been no invitations for 189 with 65 points. Even 70 pointers are struggling. It seems the future trend will be 75 points or higher will receive invitations. Have you passed the English test with superior score? if not then do that as you will gain 10 more points to take you up to 75 then you should definitely get an invite. Good luck i hope you get invited soon.
  9. Thank you for you reply. Our agent submitted our EOI in October 18 for 190 as we did not have enough points for 189. We passed the English test with superior score to gain extra points to get us up to 70. Agent amended EOI on the 9th Jan to a 189. It seems that very few if any at all with 70 points got an invitation 11/2/19 round.
  10. Hi all, Just want to find out if there are any Landscape Architects or Architects on here that have applied for a 189 since 1st July 2018? From what we have gathered so far is that it is not an occupation that is in demand at all in Oz but it is on the MLTSSL and we have been waiting for ages. Maybe I am missing something. We only have 70 points so maybe not enough for an invite.
  11. The only way you would be able to go is of you have a job offer before. I think having a job offered to you eliminates age limit but best to find out from a MARA registered agent as I might well be wrong.
  12. Hi, The current trend is that you won't get invited with 65 points when you apply for visa 189. Must have 70 points or more. State sponsorship will be your only option here and nobody can tell you how long it will take. you can get invited in 1 week or 1 year or not at all. Ask your agent to focus on one state as submitting EOI's for multiple states can impact your chances of getting invited at all.
  13. I have just found the info so please ignore this topic. Tried to delete it but don't know how to
  14. Hi all, We have just submitted our EOI for 189 with 70 points only but agent said there is a good chance we will get an ITA the next round, 11 Feb. Turning 40 mid March and want to know if still eligible to apply for a visa if we receive an ITA a few days before 40th bday. This question has probably been asked a thousand times but have tried to search the threads here and will be grateful for any info Thx
  15. No worries. If you do fail come back to me and I can try and help with any tips for a resit. JetBlast, thanks heaps for all the study material. Passed with Superior score. Really grateful mate
  16. Hi Cam, How long before you received an ITA? We are a 100 days in and turning 40 in 2 months time so starting to stress a bit
  17. Hi Garry, We are only doing PTE although might give IELTS a try if we don't get the desired result with PTE next week.
  18. Hi, thank you for your reply. Occupation code 232112 - Landscape Architect means that we can only get sponsorship from NSW, we are trying to get 10 more points by passing the English test with the required superior score but easier said than done. Already been there 5 times with number 6 booked for next week. Our MARA agent operates from a very reputable practice in The Strand, London. The agent is so involved in our case that we were only told the points went up at the end of August 2018.
  19. Hi all, Can anyone shed some light on what the chances really are for receiving and invitation from NSW (190) with only 65 points including the state sponsored points? We have submitted our EOI ages ago and with what I have gathered it seems that unless you are a plumber or chef that you have no chance at all of receiving an invite with anything less than 70 points. If this is the case then why do MARA agents still take people on knowing that they have no chance at all with only 65 points.
  20. From what I gather only people with 70 points ( including S/S ) or higher, have a chance of getting invited. People with 65 points inclusive of state nomination have virtually no chance unless you are a chef or plumber. This is based on NSW nomination.
  21. Was not aware that they do bulk invites at all. Thought they would deal with EOI's as and when they are lodged. But then again I have no clue how the Skillselect software/system works.
  22. We looked into 489 but no luck as profession not on any of the regional skills lists and or not taking anymore EOI's until further notice. Will be taking the PTE test again to see if we can conjure up the magic numbers to pass at Superior level English to give us another 10 points. Nightmare as wifey is busy with her doctorate and barely enough time for anything. Hope you guys get your invite soon
  23. Hi Aimz, thank you for replying to this thread. We are occupation 232112 - Landscape Architect with 65 points and that is including the 5 points state nomination. We submitted EOI beginning of Oct and have heard nothing
