  1. Give me a Toyota Landcruiser anyday of the week in Perth..
  2. I got off the plane from Manchester when I moved over bought a European sports car and then twelve months on after hitting the kangaroo and joey in its pouch by Clarkson and seeing some of the crazy drivers about I decided to buy a 4x4 to protect the family. I was told in the first instance it was the wrong car but sonetines you dont always take advice. The amount of things people told me when I arrived in Perth which I didn't take onboard at the time but three years down the line finally did, I wasted a lot of time... Moving overseas is a major challenge and it takes five years to settle in..
  3. Most people drive big SUV's, utes, Toyota Landcruisers/prada, Nissan Patrol. You want to drive something big too just in case.. There's a lot of kids driving 6 litre utes as a first car and from a safety point of view it's best to be in a big 5 star safety vehicle.
  4. Yanchep is the best place to live because of the beach. Two Rocks is up the road, quite nice there and if you need shops Joondalup has better shops than Perth.
  5. UK to Perth, UK kids were ahead of their Perth counterparts..
  6. No worries. I still have family over there. One family member has a house in Yanchep which has stood empty for a few years as he couldn't get a tennent. Yanchep National Park is a nice day out and there are some nice caves to explore. When I moved over to Perth in 2009 it was a very busy place. You simply could not rent a property that many people were moving there due to the mining oil and gas boom. The good thing now is that tents are a lot more affordable and there is an abundance of property to choose from. A lot of new teachers end up going up north to get a teaching job to start with. I spent a lot of time on Barrow Island in the Gorgon Project. What work will your husband do in Perth?
  7. Hi I'm not in OZ now but I was in WA during the boom years. I became a dual citizen while I was there. I used to go to Yanchep Lagoon a lot when I lived there. Safestbplace in Perth to swim in the Ocean. My advice - get a quote of Pickford's and other similar companies to send a container. Taking a BMW, not really an ideal car. Not many will want to buy it secondhand as it's a European registered car. Plus parts could proof to be different than Vic Park BMW. I thought about taking a motor many times but it just was never a feasible option when you add all the costs together. You will need bull bars up in Yanchep driving at night. I smashed up a car once at dusk up there. Kangaroo attacked my car while driving. Yanchep is lovely but not a great place for work. NOR (SOR) you will learn these terms are not great for work. Nearest train station at the moment is Butler. Probably 30 mins away then at least an hour on the train into the city. Take everything you can with you. It's not cheap to buy anything. Your hoover thoroughly clean all of it out. Winter clothes you will need them May - Oct. I always think about moving back but work is still too quiet. BTW I am a teacher but I ended up working in the Oil and Gas industry - training. A lot more cash back in the day in that field. Good luck pm if you have any further questions like I say I lived there and can point you in the right direction about a lot of things there.
