    Guess What! You’re right!

We’ve just received the golden email! Our agent has sent through an email last night..always nice to wake up to good news!

It’s all very surreal and still hasn’t sunk in!.. though I’m sure it’s going to get real very quickly! 🙈

We need to make our first entry before the 17th July - hopefully heading to Victoria ..

Thank you all for keeping me sane and keeping our hope up during all this waiting x

Really hoping yours is the next ones to come through xx

Fab! I'm glad the grants have started again. Fingers crossed for those still waiting

    Hi there

I too have been reviewing this forum and it's certainly given me some reassurance that the waiting time is totally normal!

I am an Australian and my husband is a Brit. As friends had been through the application at the start of 2018 and had theirs approved within a few months, we were under the impression we would be moving sooner than it is looking like.

Would be great to be added to the timeline too.

    Applied 309/100 - 4 October 2018

No response as yet, still at stage 1, Received. Have done all the criminal checks, and medical for my husband complete.

We are now contemplating doing the tourist visa as we would ideally like to be out there by May. Any advice on the tourist visa would be appreciated!

Fingers crossed for more grant news soon.

    Hey

I came to Oz on the 12 month tourist visa. It was really easy. I've then just waited it out. You then get notification that they're ready to grant. I hopped over to NZ on a flexible ticket for one week. It was granted in 48 hours so I changed flight and came back.

I was able.to get a bank account even though on a tourist visa and interim Medicare. But obviously can't work so financially it's a strain.

    Good luck!

Would have been nice to get it sorted but that’s how it works sometimes.

I shall be doing the same as soon as PR is granted, I’ve had a little look and there are plenty it seems. Mrs already has a job offer, just needs security clearance.

Min a bit gutted about the change in law in regards to citizenship this year, puts my first job choice out of reach for a while, though I might send off a nice letter to the minister to have a look into it.

Uh.oh what change in citizenship? Made it longer have they?

Amazing, congrats! Bet you’re pleased, job hunting in the near future or is that already sorted?

I don’t think I will get mine while I’m here, so looks like I shall return to UK and finish my work contract and move in the summer.

Ah sorry you think you won't get yours. It's a horrible horrible waiting game.

No job sorted. No one would even talk to me without a visa. But several applications now made so hoping the new year will bring new opportunities

  5. So I went to New Zealand with my ticket to stay 5 days as requested. The visa was granted Monday UK time - woke to the news Tuesday morning. I rapidly booked a return flight and here I am landed in Melbourne.

I walked through the auto gates no problems. Felt guilty so immediately went to an immigration officer and asked if that was allowed when permanently migrating. She looked at me like I was mad and said yeah of course.

And here I am. Now eligible to work and progress my life here!

Ahhhh it’s driving me to dispair at the moment!!! I think coupled with missing out on the festivities back home, it’s becoming all consuming.... my poor long suffering partner is getting all my moods taken out on him too as I’m out on a limb here- no social circle to speak of as yet... hence the desperation to get back into work- I can feel my brain going to mush!! 😬😬😬

I totally understand. I've had the little one to take care of so it's kdptd busy enough but I'm so desperate to move on with life. We're living with in laws until I can work and then we can buy a house.

Remind me where in Oz you are?

  7. So basically I've been told to leave and it's recommended it's a minimum of 5 business days. All good.

What I'm trying to find out is if I go to NZ Sunday and I get my grant Monday do I really have to stay all week or can I change flight and come back to Oz?

Is the 5 days just so they've got 5 days to issue the visa rather than average actual legal requirement as a minimum.

I'll miss my husband and son so much!

    Hey all,

quick one, I’m currently in Sydney for a few weeks, do I have to inform anyone that I am here? Hoping to hear some time in these two weeks.

    any tips would be welcome.

We updated my address and that's how they knew I was in Auz. But they also then asked for further information being an updated list of countries visited because clearly I've now visited Australia. So it may be worth updating your list of countries travelled in past 10 years too

  9. So I can't quite believe I'm writing this but

    I GOT MY GOLDEN EMAIL!!!!!

I now just have to leave the country for 5 working days and when I come back I can begin finding a job and then we can begin finding a house. It's all so exciting.

Thank you to everyone on this board for helping to keep me sane!

Jon you were right to have that good feeling. I'm hoping it happens for the rest of you too!  Come on KatieBobbles you must be next.

We are the same ... I have re-read the request letters twice to see if I missed anything but can't see it.
All I have done is click the button at the bottom which is now greyed out.
Wouldn't it make the best Xmas pressy if we all hear beforehand

It would be the best! Another week starts and another anxious wait! Trying to put to back of mind assuming won't be before Christmas but who knows!

I'm going to upload some more bank statements and things today just to keep the application fresh.

Hi guys, well, we've gone from received to "initial assessment" today and been asked for more information, namely any countries my partner (the applicant) has lived in for more than 12 months for past ten years (he's only lived in England so that one is easy), and more proof of our relationship.

I am really surprised as we applied in August, but it does seem like they are putting on a big push before the end of the year to clear or move to the next stage as many applications as possible.

Not sure what more "proof" we can give them of our relationship as I've given them 3 affidavits, 14 pages of timestamped screenshots and photos etc from ours and our friends social media since we got together 7 years ago, receipts of all our joint travel and holidays, and full statements explaining how we met, the development of our relationship, how we run our household etc. We don't have any joint finances at the moment as I moved into my partners house (so mortgage and bills were in his name) and we share one car which is in my name and I pay for sky and groceries.  Any ideas what else we can send them? One of our pals suggested a sex tape but I don't think I'd wish that on anyone!! 😆

Hahaha good idea but try other things first 😃🤣

Payments between you both? Wedding cards or Xmas cards to you both from friends / family? Pictures with each others families at events? Joint wedding invitations? Messages to each other when you've spent time apart (if you have)

You can look up judgments on Austlii under the Migration Tribunal. Also, if it interests you, you can go to the MARA page and there is a list of agents who have been barred and reasons why and there's more than a few who have not uploaded documents resulting in refusals. It makes for interesting reading.

    Goodness that's worrying.

That frustrates me as I would think that they have gone through the file and asked what they needed for it to be finalised. Isn't it easier to just come back to our files and just press the approve button? :S

I really would have thought so. I guess some to come back to are more complex than others but still. They must have fully reviewed it to know what questions they wanted to ask me so you'd think get it ticked off whilst fresh in the mind.
