    Good Evening,

Just wondering if anybody could help with the CV format required by Vetassess for the 1st part of the application.

I am just editing my cv to match the relevant style of CV they want.

Also, I have been working since I left school in Ref./Air con. trade but am only getting the VETASSESS assessment for the Offshore training record to make life easier on

arrival to australia as my wife is the main applicant on the 189 visa. (I know this can add 5 points if needed, Hopefully not.)

Should I provide evidence back to when I left school and started in the trade? or should I just cover the minimum 5 years with my current employer for a positive result?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Eddie

Hey mate inboxed you resume i used for Vetassess Skill assessment

  3. Hey guys, As you guys may have realised  190 grants kinda stopped after they processed most of the October cases. I am creating this thread so people who applied in November can share their timelines in one place and we can track each others cases. I applied on November 27th and my status is till received. Please share your experiences

That is great thank you so much! Makes sense! Fingers crossed for you too!! Just want to make sure I have everything in order.

On a separate note - is it true that they take off years of your experience if you haven't got a relevant qualification? I have a BSc Hons degree but not in my occupation but 3 - now into my 4th years of experience?

Hey, Burnsie is absolutely right. Some of my work experience was through agency, so i put their details as they are the one paying my wages and super etc. As for your other question, for general occupation Vetassess tend to deduct some of your experience. On your skill assessment they will clearly state at what date they deemed you qualified, you can then claim points from only that date onwards. Hope this help, good luck

Hi. I know this is an old thread but I have been told by Vetassess the same. How do I get points advice?

In the end i found out that you don't need to provide points advise for trade occupations. There are some regions, who have condition that, you must provide points advise for the nomination. If you are applying to one of those region then you need to apply directly to TRA for points advise

    Hi All,

Is anyone  currently doing/done JRP for Chef as requirement for 189/190? I am applying as a FIFO Chef  for Sodexo (one of the biggest supplier of Chefs in mine sites) but not sure if it will be accepted with the program. Called TRA twice and was not given clear answers. First person said he had no idea, just said as long as I do the duties. Second person said I should just email so someone with more knowledge will attend to my queries. So I emailed and was again told that they can not determine. I was instructed to do the online registration (where I pay 500 bucks) so they can assess if my employer is suitable.

Anyone who have finished the program can please assist me also on how the whole process is done.

    Thanks!

Hey Mate, Casual employment is accepted. I did n't have any chef qualification, so i went through Vetassess Pathway 1. They accepted my casual employment

    Hi All,

Firstly what a great thread! especially the tracker with all the dates for the different processes.

We (my wife and 2 kids under 4) are at the start of this process, just getting the information together for a High points 489 Visa for SA moving to Adelaide.  I should have 80 points, hopefully going to submit the Vetassess assessment in the next few weeks.  In relation to this do they ever contact your employers?  I have talked to HR and they will sign the form and not say anything but my directors would not take me leaving very well!  In relation to proving your start date, I have my contact signed in 2013 but can not find any payslips etc from this time, would the contract be sufficient?

Really looking forward to it all, well apart from all the waiting! Looking to ideally move for Christmas this year if everything goes to plan and rent in the Henley or North Brighton area before buying somewhere.  Might over run a little with the wait times as that's only 10 months from now.  But would be ideal with the Aus school term starting in Jan.

Does front loading the Visa application with medicals and police checks help? my fear is if the process takes longer than expected and they expire before we get there.  I would have to sell a house etc once / if the 489 is granted and that could take time.

Is the process, apply for Skills assessment with Vetassess, complete a ielts English test (I need a 8), once back apply for the EOI and state nomination.  Hopefully if that is granted then apply for the 489 within 60 days.  Then the long painful wait!

Hey mate, I got my skill assessment through Vetassess. They contacted my current employer. I provided number of my head chef. They tried his personal number but couldn't get through so they called him on work number. Only asked him couple of questions. Couple of my friends also got verification call at their work place from Vetasses, so be prepared.

Hi all. Quick question I have been reading and if you are a UK citizen you don't need to take an English test however i read somewhere that to gain more points it is advisable to do so. Is this true and also which English test is better to take. Thank you

As a British citizen you don't need to do english test, but if you want to increase your points then you should definitely do it. You will get 20 points if you manage to score 8 each in IELTS or  79 each in pte. Skilled migration is very competitive process and higher the points you have better the chances are. I will definitely recommend doing PTE exam.

    Hi Experts,

I applied for 186 (TRT) on 7th January 2019.. When Should I get the Medicare Card? Do I need to apply for Medicare anywhere or It’s come automatically at my residencial Address? When should I close my Bupa insurance ?

Note: How long does it take to approve Nomination and Visa for Cook Occupation Normally..?

    Thanks

    Selim Reza

You have to go to Centrelink to apply for Medicare. Click on the below link and download the form. Take completed form with copy of your current visa as well 186 acknowledgement letter and your passport. They will give you Medicare number straight away and card will arrive in couple of week at your address.

Thanks for your reply Garry. Is there a maximum amount you can transfer at any one time?

I never had problem with limit, saying that maximum i transferred was £5000. According to their website maximum limit per transfer is 1.5 million AUD

I’ve tried looking through the topics on here but I can’t find what I’m looking for. Can anyone recommend the best way to transfer your funds from the UK to Australia. Which company gives you the best exchange rate etc.  Thanks. Liz

I highly recommend transferwise. You can download their app as well and use your debit card to make a payment. Money usually reach in under an hour.

I was worried about uploading them ahead as I believe they expire after 12 months, so if there was a delay on visa grant we would have to pay to do them again. Do you know how long it would usually take for CO contact?

    Thanks

    Lucy

yes its normal, i am sure you will get a contact this week or by next week. I would highly suggest to do the Medical and pcc. If you wait for the CO contact to ask for the same, it will delay your grant by at least a month according to current trends. Some people are waiting more than 2 months after the CO contact because they didn't front load all the docs

    Hi,

we are in the process of applying 485 PSW visa, our student visa still valid till 18/03/2019.

So if we get bridging visa can my dependent work full time on bridging visa?

You will have same restriction as your student visa. Saying that if you have already finished your course you can work full time.

    Hey Guys

I need some help, with Victoria 190.

I submitted EOI for 190 Victoria in June with 65 points, and as my profession is non ICT, i had to fill out nomination which i did on 24th Sept.

Meanwhile I had also submitted EOI for 489 SA with 70 points in july and received invite on 8th October.

Now, i have always wanted to go to Victoria but since i heard nothing from them and also my invite from SA was expiring I filed my Visa application 489SA on 7th December, after waiting as much as i could for Victoria. done PCC and health assessment as well, paid the fees.

Fast forward to January 23rd and I get an Invite from Victoria (190)as well.

And as stated Victoria was always my first choice as for my profession Melbourne is the best city.

Now I want to know if I can lodge another visa application (yes i will have to pay the hefty fees again), but considering its a permanent visa (190) and i wont have to buy my own health insurance and pay for 887 after 2 years of stay in SA, I am thinking of withdrawing my 489(SA) application and lodge 190(Vic).

    Please advice.

Hey, congratulation on your invitation from Victoria. Yes, its perfectly fine to lodge another application. Friend of mine did the same. Lodge your 190 first and then withdraw your 489 after that.

    Hi.

    Looking for some advice please.

I am in the process of finalising our move to Sydney. I have HSBC's accounts in both the UK and in Australia and will need to transfer money back to the UK account regularly for mortgage etc.

Is the best way to just transfer between the two accounts? I won't be charged a fee but will the exchange rates be the best? Or should I use another service?

Have searched and search and have probably confused myself more so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey mate, try transfer wise. You can download their app and money reach overseas account pretty much instantly. Very low fee and way better exchange rate.https://transferwise.com/au/

Its regulated by FCA in Uk and ASIC here in AUS.

Don't ever transfer through bank to bank, they charge you high fee as well as take large spread out of exchange rate

That's new! my MA did not mentioned this and suggested to apply for 489 as a backup. anyways I submitted 190 on 12-Oct-2019 and then 489-SA on 7-Dec-2018. I wish and hope they might have done my application search before 7-Dec-18 😛 . my 190 is still in submitted status not rejected yet

I guess your agent probably submitted multiple EOIs ?  If not ask him to do that as Victoria won't invite you if you stated your preferred state as WA or ANY

    Hi There,

I got 489-SA invitation on 7-Jan-19 and I need to lodge by application before 9-Mar-19. I have also submitted EOI for 190-Vic on 12-Nov-18, now I am confused if I should wait for 190-VIc considering the benefit it offers or go ahead with 489-SA.

can anybody tell me if I miss 9-Mar-19 deadline for 489-SA, can I re-submit EOI for 489-SA? will they consider my application once again or is it one invitation per applicant and will reject if I re-submit?

I just want to give some more time to 190-Vic as its been only 9 weeks to my submission which includes Christmas holidays, as I am not aware how many days they are closed during Christmas.

Its competitive process, so i suggest wait until the deadline and if you don't get the Victorian nomination by then go for SA 489. I am pretty sure you will get Victorian nomination by then if you have enough points. One other person i know got his nomination last week, application was submitted in Sep.

You would think that, right? And you would be wrong.

The occupational ceilings are loosely based on demand, but are also so high that they do not actually limit occupations not truly in demand.

Invitation is then based on points, not demand. And there are literally thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of accountant/engineer/ICT professionals with 75+ points clamoring to drive taxi's and manage retail stores (because 70 percent of the pro-ratas are not in fact working as professionals for at least 5 years according to census data).

Throw in that there are not many teachers, and even fewer at 75+ points because that would mean you probably have 10 years of experience; and teachers with that much experience are typically 'settled' (e.g. not interested in migration).

Final nail in the coffin is the reduction in total invites (albeit against parliamentary planning). This chokes out all the sub 70 pointers because of the giant backlog it creates. And really, the majority of teachers looking to migrate are going to be in the 60-65 point range, so teachers are largely out despite being highly employable.

The outcome is that the 'ideal' migrant is an experienced professional unlikely to find work in their profession.

I totally agree with you. So from my experience what i have seen over the last year or so, ICT and Accountant push every one out of the competition with their high points (they can do professional year to get 5 extra points etc). It was pretty hard for trade people to get an invitation through 189 as most trade workers have diploma which reduces their points, to compensate that states started prioritising trade workers. But they totally missed the point that there are other general occupations that can't get enough points, teachers are the best example of that

  19. 1 hour ago, Marisawright said:

Ah, but training a local person solves the teacher shortage AND reduces unemployment at the same time, which is politically more desirable.

Yeah i agree with you, but thats not the argument i was making. I was trying to point out there is an evidence that they have shortage of teachers

  20. 1 hour ago, JDJones said:

I haven't seen any invites for teachers on a 190 this week, only trades, midwives and nurses. If you know of secondary teachers who are being invited, how many points did they have? I have 65+5 for NSW and have had my EOI in since July!

I don't think they invited any teachers. This time around they even skipped the chefs as couple of my mates were hoping for an invite. What i gathered from all over the other forums, there were very few invitations were issued compared to last year. I don't understand the politics around all this, on one hand they are saying they need teachers ( USYD offers $10000  a year) scholarship to do a degree in teaching and then they ignore all the teachers who are waiting, They should be inviting teachers 60+ 5 ss if they need teachers
