    Hi everyone,

I am going to apply a visa 143 for my parents who are holding visa 173. Can anyone share your experience whether I should send again all documents to support my sponsorship if I am still the sponsor for their visa (173 and now 143)?

And if anyone was requested a health exam again for this visa after taking health exam for visa 173 ?

    Many thanks,

    Kind regards

Hi I applied for 143 onshore after receiving my 173 - At the top of the last page of the applicants form it does say that you will not be required to resubmit any documents either as the applicant or sponsor. The only thing I had to reapply for was Police Clearance Certificate from Australia.

Thank you Marilyn. It’s very encouraging to hear how well things are going for you and how quickly your 173 to 143 was processed. Fingers crossed our application gets similar treatment.

These last 12 months have been an eventful to say the least. It started so well with having our new baby granddaughter here over Christmas, we sold our house (without advertising it) and packed up all our chattels. With 600 visas in hand, flights booked for two (plus two dogs). What could go wrong….

Never expected to be homeless at our age, especially in the middle of a pandemic. Very unsettling at the time, but we have been very lucky to have good friend and supportive family. We have even now bought a motorhome and although not living in it fulltime, we are planning on a long road trip though Germany, Switzerland and Italy (Covid permitting).

I’m not taking anything for granted now, but it will be good to have our PR in hand soon and hopefully making the move to Australia sometime in 2021.

Such trying times. If you can do the conversion as soon as you can it just makes it complete. I could still drive with my UK license and was able to have an unexpected medical procedure on an interim Medicare card (fully paid by Medicare). Just the uncertainty with the number of visa allocations dropping so much it’s worthwhile. So saddened to hear how something so joyous is marred by the current situation. Borders opened today so that’s a good sign! Hang in there and just try to continue with good spirits. I’ll keep checking up on you x

2nd vac request received today… wooooohoooo!!!

I keep popping in here to see your progress as we kind of went this journey together and am so pleased to see this wonderful news. I am truly so happy for you can’t wait to see your signature having your flight date

  4. Today I celebrate 1 amazing year in Australia, my new home. I arrived during the drought with heavy water restrictions, then we had the horrendous bush fires, then we had torrential rains and then Covid-19. Waiting 4 years and a lot of $$$$$ going through all that has been so worth it. I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity to get this visa which is not available for many others so all I can say is be a little bit more patient I promise you it will be so worth it.

  5. I must say I am very impressed with AOS my daughter submitted the application yesterday and received the phone interview today. They sent her a sms to say they would be calling her today from an unknown number. Didn't ask any questions just told her what being an assurer was.

I remember a year ago people were waiting 18 weeks for that phone call.

At the moment, because of the size of the queue and the fact  that all applications for visas are dealt with in strict date order,  it’s taking about the same length of time to get 173 as it is to get 143 but as it’s only valid for two years there’s a further wait as you then have to  apply for 143. Although the payment is split into two the total cost is actually more when adding together the costs for 173 and then subsequent 143.

So  it takes longer and costs more to get full PR. There’s not much point in going for 173 now  actually !

Hi Linda it is very quick at the moment - see my timeline

Not much difference except you get to pay the payment in two installments rather then paying all at once in visa 143.

And you can be onshore to do it - I did it this way. Cost a bit more ($4260) but was worth it as I have been able to start my new journey whilst applying for permanent residency

Our Centrelink never seems to have a queue as so much is online at the mo!

Lucky managed to get some one on the phone so very helpful and confirmed they are discouraging people going into their offices. They were happy to validate the documents my daughter submitted on mygov. Just waiting for the green light on the validation of ID then will submit application.
