This is the income requirement for the sponsor.
The sponsor can only be the person/s identified in the extract you have posted.
Best regards.
So this is different to the 143 as it is the assured who has to have this income?

I don't understand your question - sorry.
Are you referencing the Assurer?
There is no Assurer with subclass 870 applications.
Best regards.
have a minimum household income of $83,454.80 based on the most recent completed financial year. This is based on their income alone OR the combined income of your child and their spouse/partner AND/OR another Australian-based child (if applicable). The other Australian child must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

Who is this guarantor that you are referencing please?
The sponsor underwrites costs such as claims on Medicare by the subclass 870 visa holder.
Best regards.
My Sister & her husband. The same as my 143.

Hi All,
Looking to apply for an 870 visa, does the guarantor (not sponsor) have to be your child, or can it be another family member or friend?
Regards,

Hi All,
Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to process an 870 visa.. i am planning to go over in Sept 2023 and wait for my 143, which is currently estimated at 2029 (11 years after application) so looking at when i will need to start the ball rolling?
TIA,
Dan

No - 103 is the offshore non contributory version of of contributory 143 for parents of any age. New applications of 103 are expected to take 30 years to Process and you do not get a bridging visa to wait onshore.
The “aged” parent visas all start with 8 and are onshore applications - so 804 is aged version of 103, 884 is aged version of 173 and 864 is aged version of 143.
You have to be 66.5 years old from July this year to apply for aged visas.i see, i thought for an awful minute that i had wasted my time going for the 143, if i could have been onshore on a 103.
Thankyou for the clarification.

I thought you had to be a pensioner for the 103 visa?

No you’re ok. It’s applications lodged after 1 June 2018 That will have to be queued and may wait longer.
Thankyou Linda, i was beginning to think i had got it all wrong and should have applied a month or so later than i did..

Based on the stats I've seen (have you seen my blog post on the Go Matilda Parents visa website) I'm presently seeing waiting times for new subclass 143/173/864/884 applicants of several years.
It is important to also note that the queue date will be key, and going forwards it is this date rather than the visa application date that will determine how quickly one of these visa applications is assessed.
So an application lodged in June 2018 with a queue date in April 2021 will in future be assessed later than a Sept 2018 application with a queue date of Feb 2021.
=> The need to address health and character tests quickly when requested at the queuing stage will give applicants a chance to bump themselves up the pecking order.
Of course the timeline is presently unknown for when an initial request for health and character tests will be forthcoming - how long will the PVC allow before moving onto issuing requests for the next month of applications?
If its not too much of a self promotion the need for an informed advisor who is across what's happening with the parent visa program might lop a significant amount off the total visa application processing time, and hence secure a visa grant sooner than a less informed parent visa applicant.
In other words, having police clearances ready and waiting to be submitted before they are requested and arranging the medical examination immediately upon request are likely to give applicants opportunities to jump up the queue.
I know that we have a schedule that monitors dates of requests for health and character checks so we can make enquiry of the PVC when a client's application appears to have stalled. It does happen.
Best regards.
I am a little confused, re the third paragraph. does this mean that if you lodged your visa in May 18 you are now at the back of the queue?

Many thanks David.
Hi Dan,
If the subclass 600 visa comes with an 8501 condition (maintain adequate health insurance) I have my doubts that a travel insurance will meet the requirements. I could be wrong but it’s certainly worth checking.
We used Allianz Overseas Visitor Cover. There will be others if you do a search.
In saying this, when we entered Australia on our 600 visa, fully armed with all the paperwork to prove we had medical insurance, we were never asked to show it. Having the benefit of this hindsight I would still take out the right medical insurance. It’s not worth the risk.
Your wife may be eligible for a reciprocal Medicare card. This is another thing worth checking. Even the reciprocal card give you good cover.
Good luck!
David
I have asked my migration agent twice, but he seems reluctant to reply.

Hi.
We applied and were accepted for our subclass 600 for my wife.
Can you possibly let me know if normal full year travel insurance with "Staysure Travel insurance" will be sufficient medical cover or does she require full medical insurance.
Also i ticked the box for the additional year on the visa application and supplied the required evidence but her acceptance document does not seem to refer to it. is this normal?
Dan -
Thank you David, this is very helpful. Although i can get a travel insurance policy, i wasn't sure if it would tick the right boxes!
Hi Danny,
I think you will have to take out a dedicated Medical Insurance. I doubt that Travel Insurance will tick the box. When we came in on a 600 visa 14 months ago no one actually checked that we had insurance but, for me, it wasn’t worth the risk of entering without cover.
You might want to look at Allianz - they do an Overseas Visitor Health Cover which they say complies with Immi requirements. Allianz were cheapest when we were looking for cover. Another tip - if there is two of you take out two separate policies, it’s cheaper that way.
Good luck
David

Hi All,
quick question for those on a Subclass 600 eg 2 x 12 month stay over a 3 year period. Looking at what insurance to use. do you go for single trip or backpackers insurance and what seems to be the best company to use?
Dan
Can I use Travel insurance or does it have to be a dedicated Medical Insurance?

Hi Dan,
I have been using Bupa standard visitors cover for the last 5 years or so for my mum on 600 visa. The best thing I find with them is that you can suspend your policy for 6 months when the policy owner is not in Australia. Thus they don't loose any time for waiting medical queues and you don't pay for 6 months. In terms of policy it gives you the same benefits as on Medicare but in case of charges that are not charged as the MBS and charged as non-medicare patient Bupa only reimburses the medicare component which is quite a lot sometimes. Otherwise they are were very helpful and the turnaround time for any claims is very quick.
Cheers
Anks
Many Thanks Anks, I will definitely look into it as an option.

scroll down to temporary visas then down to additional tests. It mentions over 75 years may need medical
That's probably what it is as my wife is a young 49 year old. flights booked for 1st November for 12 months.

There’re 2 type of 600: tourist visa which normally allows 3months stay is not required medical check, and sponsored family visitor visa which allows up to 12 months stay is required medical check.
Hope it helps!
My wife is on the 12 Month (12 months in country, out for 6 then back in for another 12 months)
which has already been granted without any medical?
-
Hi All,
I'm a little concerned.. I keep seeing that people had a medical check for their 600.. we applied for my wife and it was submitted. there has been no mention of any medical's?
Dan -
I have just applied for this visa for my wife. how do you go about the return flights. do you book them on an open ticket or can you arrange the return leg when you book?
-
Hi, has the subclass 600 changed at all, there now seems to be some variants and i can't tell which is the best option for us. We are still in the very long queue for our 143 visa!
Can anyone point me in the right direction it suggests tourist stream or sponsored family stream? -

It really depends on how many people the politicians decide they want to allow in each year....they are cutting back year on year, and as there have been more and more applications the length of wait can change drastically. we were quoted 18 months to 2 years when we applied August 2015, and we're still waiting and haven't been asked to prepare documents or medicals etc yet! Probably will be 3.5 - 4 years for us....so no idea about your timeline. Best advice just live life as normal until you hear ...don't expect it at a certain time or you'll get really depressed!
Many thanks.. not good news as I was quoted 2.5 - 3 years when I submitted my application.. if I had known it would take that long I could have gone for a different visa as I will have my pension before I get there. So no need to work!
-
My application for a parent visa 143 was submitted 21/5/2018, when would I be looing at completing. can anyone help?
-
God knows how long I will have to wait. I was quoted 2.5 - 3 years earlier this year. 143 lodged in May 18 .. never know, I may still be alive when it's accepted!

Hi All,
Very interesting reading. Looks like I'm in for a bit of a wait. our 143 application was only lodged on 21st May 2018. I was originally told 2.5 - 3 years. hopefully it will not take much longer than that. I see a lot of you are already living is Oz whilst waiting for it to be processed. Question is are you allowed to work in Oz whilst waiting as only being 54 I have a few years to wait for my pension and my wife is a few years younger?
Any advice would be much appreciated as I could move a soon as March 19 when my current pension freezes.
Many thanks

Any ideas how the last paragraph will affect those in the 143 queue?
