  1. Hello

Anywhere on the Northern Beaches (stretching from Manly up to Avalon) will fulfil your needs, except # 6.

If you need to be near the airport, then down south near the beach (Maroubra) would be better.

Surry Hills or Paddington or Glebe are nice for inner city living

It really depends what lifestyle you like. Inner city living would personally drive me insane with all the noise, pollution and crowds, but some people thrive on that environment.

Hi our budget is about $550,000 we like the beach coastal living  Hubbie is a painter and decorator and would like to work around the cc area n not commute into Sydney. Any feedback would be appreciated 😊

    Hello

You can still pick up a decent place on the Central Coast for $550,000 or less.

It is a great relaxed lifestyle up there and very close to several beaches

It is near enough to Cronulla in my opinion. You don't want to be living in your childrens pockets 24/7 do you? Couple of hours on the train or in the car is nothing in the scheme of things.

You don't necessarily have to commute into the CBD for work. There is loads of new units going up in Hornsby, where your hubby could possible get some painting and decorating work, and Hornsby is only 40 minutes from Gosford either driving or on the train.

Can someone please help me with a list of what relationship evidence is and examples . Thank you 🙏

    Hello

Basically anything that shows a relationship or some history together

For example, this is what we supplied : Copies of personal letters or emails, photos of the two of us, written declaration from three different friends about our relationship, proof I had changed my maiden name to my married name.

Would you say it’s relatively easy to save up and find new jobs?

    Hello

Depends on what you are prepared to do, and are not too fussy about what you do.

If you are going to be fussy or precious about it, you may find yourself a little lacking in options or jobs.

For example, cleaning toilets at a caravan park is hardly exciting or glamorous, but it pays pretty well and you can sometimes get free accommodation thrown in for good measure.

My backpacking paid jobs with added perks included :

Working in a deli & butcher (with a free lunch), working as a cashier in a clothes shop (discounts on clothes),  barmaid & waitress,  making coffee & sandwiches in a cafe (with a free lunch), taking money at the door of a nightclub, working as a chambermaid in a hotel, working as a receptionist in a motel (with free accommodation), working as a cleaner at a backpackers hostel (with free breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation), working as a hostel manager (with free accommodation), cleaning toilets at a cinema complex (with access to free films), fruit picking, handing out leaflets.

Also depends on whether you are a saver or you like to party. If you are getting paid, but also have free accommodation, it is easier to save than if you have to pay for lodgings. I did party quite a lot and spent money on a good time, but I was also able to save and travel round much of the country too.

My best suggestion is to have some sort of skill base before you leave home (like learning to pull beers, waitress, operate a coffee machine, etc...) as that will give you an added boost over others also looking for work.

Just because something is herbal, doesn't imply it is safer or weaker.

    ???

    Goodness gracious. Of course NOT.

    I never said that.

Herbal Medicine is powerful, and can potentially be harmful if used incorrectly, and you would have to be a fool to think otherwise.

To give you an example of where I am coming from on my stance.

I was on a strong pharmaceutical a few years ago, and from it I had several potentially very harmful side effects as a result. The doctor gave me more pharmaceutical medicine to treat the side effects, but I also had side effects from the new medication.

I swapped over to a herbal medication that treated the same condition but with only one manageable side effect, rather than seven unmanageable ones.

Thousands of people die from pharmaceutical medicine every year,  so I will take my chances elsewhere.

    Lol.

Well they are hardly making Herbal Medicine for charity now are they!

If Australia had "big" towns in commutable distance from the cities we would prefer to live in a decent sized community with amenities that we could commute to work - but that doesn't look possible if you need the big big cities for work

    Hello

Lots of people work in Sydney but live some distance away in big towns

I know of people who live in Newcastle, Blue Mountains and Wollongong, and who commute into Sydney daily for work

The Central Coast is a prime example of decent sized communities with amenities, where you could easily commute into Sydney CBD or surrounds.

My longest commute in Sydney was two hours each way daily. I just got on the train and fell asleep until I reached my destination. No drama. And not much longer than my old daily London commute.

Why? I can understand why someone rejects western medicine. Pharma companies aren't exactly my favourite. But why do you assume that something grown in the ground is going to be less harmful?

    Hello

I find your comment a bit odd to be honest.

    I don't assume anything.

And I am hardly running around the streets digging up roots and eating them!

I use Western Herbal Medicine, as dispensed by a qualified herbalist.

The medicine is properly prepared, manufactured, tested, etc.....

It works just as well as pharmaceutical medicine, but without such dire side effects.

Having suffered dire side effects from pharmaceutical medicine in the past, I am not willing to take that route any longer.

In the 15 years I have been using herbals for a variety of health issues, I have never had a negative side effect from them.

Pharmaceutical medicine has its place, but I would only personally use it if all else fails and as a last resort.

    Personal choice.

Hi there i live in Gol Gol

Well Gol Gol use to have a very bad reputation. Not as bad as Dareton true. But still up there. But hey things change. Last time I was in the area was 2003 but still have friends there.

You'd have to be on a very good salary though, to make it worthwhile spending $1,200 on flights every week.

Lol. Well obviously! But everyone I knew that were doing this, had the flights built into their wage offer, the money didn't come out of their own pockets. I also know people who stay in Melbourne during the working week and then fly back to Mildura for the weekend to live.

Best place to rent either in town or nearby? Have a dog.

    Hello

Many houses in Mildura (especially near the hospital) are older in style and are on massive blocks, so plenty of room for a dog.

Dareton and Gol Gol are just on the other side of the border in NSW about 20 minutes from Mildura, and these areas have always had a bad reputation. Lots of Aboriginal kids running amok.

But Trentham also other side of the border in NSW about 20 minutes from Mildura, would be a lovely place to live, and massive blocks too as a winery area.

A 20 minute leisurely drive in virtually no traffic to Mildura, would be very pleasant.

It is about $120.00 to fly from Mildura to Melbourne and about an hours duration, and a lot of people live in Mildura and fly back and forth to Melbourne each day for work, so although isolated for driving, it is not on the moon for other forms of travel

I am looking at a job option in Mildura and wonder what it is like to live in, accommodation costs and work opportunities for my other half.

    Hello

I lived there for five years.

It is pretty isolated in terms of driving elsewhere

But the town is nice enough, well spaced out, pretty good shops, coffee shops, bars, etc....and the river area is lovely in terms of boating, swimming, fishing or camping in the area.

Wentworthville is a lovely little town nearby,  and there is a fantastic winery at Robinvale that has some amazing wines. But there are certainly some surrounding areas that need to be avoided like the plague.

Hot summers were fine for me, as I love the heat. Never remember it being unbearable.

It could get cold in winter especially at night, but still manageable with a heater (I find it a lot colder in Sydney)

Lots of fruit picking and hospitality type jobs.

However, many jobs are got on who you know, rather than what you know.

Wages are not particularly high, but neither are house prices (both rentals and buying are still affordable), so each balance each other.

99.99% of the people who live there think it is God's own country and the most amazing town in the universe.

Maybe take a holiday there and check it out

Had our flu shots today. Must say I have been having them for the past 5 years and not had the flu since.  I used to get it every single year before, it was awful.  I am going to have my shingles vac soon ( after the flu one has settled).  I hesitate with this one because hub had a really bad reaction to it but having seen a few friends get shingles probably better to risk side effects.

    😞

Shingles is awful from what I have seen. I didn't know there was a vaccination for it though. Not something I have ever really thought about to be honest.

I have never had a flu vaccination. I started using nutritional medicine (diet) and natural medicines (herbals) ten years ago, and have never had flu since.

I suppose side effects from a vaccination, against the actual illness, is something you just have to weigh up the pros and cons on.

    A personal decision

Maybe consider somewhere around Crows Nest.

    🙂

Not sure a great place to bring up children - as no open spaces to play

But fantastic for coffee, food, services, village feel, etc....

I love both Crows Nest and Lane Cove for the "village feel"

I suppose it depends on whether children are free-ranging or not

Lindfield and Gordon keep popping up. We want low crime and a friendly place to live. A nice local strip of coffee shops etc would also be a bonus.

    Hello

Lindfield and Gordon are safe and leafy areas to bring up children.

Other nice areas to live in would be Berowra Heights or Hornsby Heights, both under one hour to the CBD

Plus some excellent public and private schools in the area of Hornsby.

Best coffee in Sydney is on the upper Northern Beaches where you are spoilt for choice (which doesn't help you!)

Which hospital will you be working in?

I be able to work for myself as a mobile beautician on a WHV should I struggle to find suitable work

    Hello

You could offer cheaper appointments to backpackers

We had a couple of masseurs, beauticians and hairdressers in the hostel I was in. They advertised their services in all the local hostels, and made cash in hand from those jobs. They were usually quite busy.

    Oh dear

I felt absolute regret before the plane had even landed, and I lasted three months, before hot footing it back home to Oz.

Home is where the heart is after all

My love affair with Australia has never waned, and simply grows stronger each passing year.

But good luck to those returning to the UK, hope it all works out for you, and you settle in well.

Anyone any idea about Real Estate prices for the above areas, what would be the normal for a decent sized new family home?

    Hello

Clareville, Newport and Avalon, are three of the best places to live in Sydney

But they are all pretty expensive to buy in, you would be hard pressed to find anything under $800,000. Most places for sale are $900,000 plus.

(The 4 bedroomed house I greatly admire is for sale at a measly $3,800,000)

Rent can be expensive too, BUT most of the places on the upper end of the scale to rent, are modern, fully equipped / fitted out, and many with million dollar views.

I pay $400.00 a week for a two bedroomed apartment with gorgeous views of Pittwater.

    I love the area.

within driving distance to train line.

    Hello

Avoca Beach and Macmasters Beach are both lovely, and about 20 minutes to Gosford train station by car.

In my opinion, Gosford and Woy Woy are OK to visit or transit through, but I would not like to live there.

Down from the coast, Somersby and Berowra are good places to live too.

Best you book into short term (three months) accommodation when you get here and check areas out for yourself.
