When I spoke with an agent for travel insurance, they confirmed emigration was a valid reason to travel so we should all be okay 👍... We also have a bit of a dilemma regarding vaccines, we have just been invited to book our first jab but won’t be here (hopefully) for the second, anyone else in the same position and if so what do we do?

We are having our first vaccine mid March. One dose gives you a good level of protection. Although we had to book our 2nd at the same time, I’ll just cancel them after we’ve had the first.

There's a new form to fill in before we leave the UK now.  I can't see a specific 'emigration' reason for leaving but it does include anything to do with buying or selling property so maybe we come under that category.  Here's hoping....

Yes, my husband saw that on the news last night. I’m sure immigration will be a valid reason, we are homeless! And it says that they are just doing spot checks, I believe.
they are just trying to stop people taking holidays. I’ll let you know on here what happens when we go at the end of March

Thank you.  I think the travel agent is just waiting to see what happens at the moment.  At present the flight is still booked and we're still on it so presumably the airline is no wiser than us just now.  We haven't heard anything directly from the airline but if they are moving people to other flights to alternative destinations that would be brilliant and a massive relief.  Our son has already said he will drive to Sydney or Adelaide to collect us after our quarantine if necessary.  Haha!  Maybe we can get on the ship along with our belongings....  When are you flying out?  I seem to remember that you are in the UK but I might have got that wrong - apologies if so

I’ve just seen this on FB from the Australian high commission, read the sixth para, could be promising for flights to Melbourne. I’d hang on if I was you.

Also good news for us as caps into Perth are increasing again and that’s where we are heading. Our flight is booked for the 30th of March. Yes we are in the UK, living in a holiday cottage as our house sale went through super quick ( unfortunately) house stuff shipped, living out of suitcases but very excited that we are within touching distance

Have you thought about registering for the repatriation flights?

Hi Canda.  Yes, we're due to fly to Melbourne at the end of April and are totally in limbo as to deciding what to do.  The State Premier is refusing to give any clue as to when the border will re-open and is obviously in no hurry at all.  Presumably the flights won't get cancelled till the last minute and then it will cost a massive amount to get another flight at short notice but I assume you, like us, won't want to delay your flight any longer than absolutely necessary.  It's very stressful at the moment - our stuff gets shipped on Wednesday and we have to be out of our house the following Monday so no home and no belongings and potentially no flight!  I'll be interested to know what you decide to do and how long you are prepared to wait before doing something/anything.  Good luck!

On a  Facebook group, I’ve seen people who were due to fly to Melbourne being moved by their airline to Brisbane or Sydney. What has your travel agent or airline said? They must know what’s happening with other passengers due to fly to Melbourne in the next few weeks.
I’m so sorry that your having this extra hassle, so stressful 😢

I’m sure this has been asked before but if someone could help now rather than scrolling way way back in the forum I would be grateful!

If my sponsor has moved and changed jobs how do I or they inform the dept. ?

It would be to change the information first lodged on form 40 wouldn’t it?
I know form 1022 is Change of circumstances but who fills it in and sends it off - I assume it is the sponsor but how do they link it to my application please?

Also I’m beginning to think I would prefer my sponsor to deal with my  ongoing application - nearly 4 years in now. Do  I fill in form 956A to tell immi?
    Thank you for any help!!

When my daughter (sponsor) moved I just emailed them with the application reference number, old and new address, I got an acknowledgment a few days later to say it had been updated.
Regarding  the change of jobs, I can’t actually remember putting my daughter or son in laws occupations or an address where they worked on my forms, but I might be wrong.

Just stumbled upon this page, after searching for help. We are March end 2016 application for 143 visa. Applicants are offshore, did AOS back in March 2020. Additional docs requested supplied mid 2020. But since then we did not hear back anything. Getting no reply from PVC. Is someone in similar boat? Our docs about to expire. Bit unfair for us to have to pay everything all over again.

This is so unfair and shows that they do not process in date order as some applicants in May 2016 have had their visas granted. Is there not a number for the department you can ring to speak to someone, I may be wrong but I’m sure I’ve seen a telephone number posted on this site for home affairs.
Have you tried the parents@homeaffairs.gov.au email as well as the PVC team?
I really hope you hear from them soon, good luck.

    Hi Nathalia

We applied for our 143 in August 2019 & had an agent complete the forms (Form 47PA). My husband is main applicant & I only had to complete Part F. - Details of Partner. Part H was filled with our children's details only, so in answer to your question, I would say no. Would love to know how they get on. The waiting is killing us!! We received acknowledgement of lodgement in Sept 2019 & are now in the queue & probably have another two - three years to wait. Not sure if the current situation with Covid is affecting new applications. Hope this is helpful

Don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but we’ve just got ours in November 2020, waited 4 years 8 months! take a look at the link below

    Just to update my timeline.

We were offshore and have to make the first entry by July 2021. Luckily, we've arrived Sydney to validate our visa yesterday morning (18 Jan).  The process to the quantine took a lot of steps, but very smooth.

Great news, who did you fly with and did everything go ok? Was this the 1st flight that you booked, no bumping off from a previous date?

    Hi All.
I applied my Mum’s visa(143) through an Agent in April 2016 and allocated to the case officer in February 2020. We have done Medical and provided all requested documents + $10k assurance of support by June 2020. We haven’t received any update from the case officer after June 2020. We need to pay balance $43k and Agent said they haven’t received any update for last 7 months☹️. I’m not sure the reason for this delay. Please advise, how can I get an update.
    Thanks

    Aj

Have a look at the parent visa application timeline thread, there’s others still waiting from February 2016 onwards. As above your agent should be attempting to get an update for you.

Do you mind me asking where you are having to go for your test?  I understand you can pay for a kit to be sent to your home but we are due to fly at 8am on a Tuesday morning so the 72 hour mark for us is Saturday morning and would mean we couldn't post it back in time as it takes up to 48 hours for the result.

There’s a list of approved private testers on the government site.

Has anyone had any luck booking a flight since recent visa approval and getting here/not getting bumped so far? Have you booked independently or through an agent? The hurdles never end!

Try Jennie at British travel, shes helped a lots of people with flights.  Email ask@britishtravel.com.au for a price. It’s usually with Qatar air, she quoted us $5200 (each) from Heathrow to Perth. Thats economy class but no guarantee you won’t get bumped, before this new strain of virus she was advertising non bump economy seats  but I haven’t seen her offer this since

I’ve looked at flights online and can only get a price for business class and I think that’s what we will have to reluctantly book to guarantee we get there.

    Thank you!
There is  something else  to be aware of. Australia govt is having a  meeting on Friday to discuss immigration especially regarding the new very contagious UK strain of Covid !

This may  /may not affect flights from UK. We will have to wait and see. Lots of other countries banning flights from UK 😩

Hi Linda, I would of thought that 14 days  quarantine was more than enough, regardless of the strain. Let’s hope they just add that you have to have a negative test before travel.
I'm praying that our government come good with the vaccine promises made today.

As UK is in full lockdown are you actually allowed to leave home ? I’ve actually no idea,  just just wondered whether it was possible,  as Ive heard of people who have had flights cancelled to other countries

If your selling, moving etc then its permitted. Also you can travel internationally if it’s essential and I would deem emigrating essential if you’ve sold up.  The only thing it specifically does not permit is going on holiday

    143 and 870 Visas:

We are also applying for an 870. Our 143 was lodged 31st October 2016. We hope to get away with a 3year 870 but are worried it won’t be long enough. Opinions please?

I may be wrong but I’ve seen somewhere that although you can apply for the 870, they are not issuing them until the international borders open. So timings will depend  on when they open, as it could be another 6 months to a year before that happens. I would hope that a 3 year visa would be enough but who knows?  Good luck.

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if offshore parents' visa 143 processing are on hold? My parent applications were submitted on 15 Jun 2016, still nothing, no sign of hope :(:(:(

I don’t think they are on hold as such but I haven’t seen anyone asked for further documentation recently.  The latest date I’ve seen is 2nd of June 2016 that’s been asked for further docs. Fingers crossed you will hear something in the new year. From memory processing slowed this time last year then in the new year lots were asked for documentation.
Covid also slowed things down, look at my timeline.
It’s just a waiting game and not a very nice one 😔

Just need to rant. Excerpt from the immigration website -

However, based on current planning levels, we estimate new Contributory Parent visa applications lodged that meet the criteria to be queued are likely to take approximately at least 58 months to be released for final processing.

We are talking about parents here who aren't getting any younger unfortunately and these guys can't get their math right. They might as well just remove this statement altogether. No information is better than wrong information.

I totally agree that no information is better than the wrong information. If they put the correct information on then parents could make an informed decision before applying.
I know I’m one of the lucky ones but when I applied it said 18 to 24 months. We thought ok if it takes 2 years then another 6 months to move over that’s just about right for us. It took more than double that length of time, it’s so unfair on new applicants who put their application in now. 😢

I need some advice with regards to my parents 143 application - in the check list there is this item "Certified copies of birth certificates of all persons included in
the application" - Can some one please confirm the birth certificates are required just for the applicants (my parents) and not their siblings whose names have been listed as part of the application?

    Thanks in advance.

Birth certificates are needed Just for the applicants

Am wondering how they do this?  Wonder if its case of last booked a ticket first off!?   Still makes me nervous to book 🙄

I’m not sure how she does it and I’m assuming you pay more than standard economy class for the guarantee but she advertises non bump seats. I have seen people who have used her  and got back without being bumped.

Completely stumped as to when to book my Mums flight for, knowing full well it’ll likely get bumped! Has anyone with a recent visa grant booked? So many unknowns it’s hard to now make a plan! Very frustrating as after the 2nd vac payment a business class flight + quarantine isn’t really an option right now. If it’s not one stressful waiting game it’s another 🙂

Contact Jennie Bardsley at British travel in Perth.  She can get you non bump seats for most places in Australia

    good luck
