Good luck with that. I applied early June, hoping to receive an invite in by December.

A friend of mine with 85 points got his in 3'weeks.

    Hi everyone,

I had submitted my EOI in Feb 2016 with 65 points for the 189 visa as an accountant.

In Nov 2016, I have increased my points to 70 after having a year of Australian work experience assessed.

I have also applied for the 190 NSW nomination which I have already received and applied for but I have not heard from them yet.

When can I expect an invitation for the 189 visa?

How long did it take you to get your invite for 190 NSW?

It is pointless though as it doesn't speed up the process at all and an invitation even for a 190 can take a long time at the moment - I have seen 190's taking many months. Be aware of just what it means if timing goes against you. If you get the the visa one day before the 12 months is up, meaning you have a matter of hours to make first entry. Immigration will not care, you lose the visa. At the same time it in know way speeds up the visa as it just sits in the background until the point the case officer would have requested them

Thanks VERYSTROMY, the main idea was to speed up the process once I get an invite. If that's not the case then there is no point doing this now.

You have to have been invited and be lodging your final visa application before you will be given your HAP id.

You are way too early on in the process at the moment (by the sounds of it) for your medicals if you haven't even had your invite yet.

I know there  is a provision to get the HAP id and the medical tests even before an invitation. I also understand the risk here of not having enough lead time once I get the visa which is fine since I plan to take off as soon as I get my 190.

The main issue is 190 does not show inh the HAP ID form.

  5. Ahh... I'm in South West London (Hammersmith). It's a bit of a headache to ride in London that's if you don't find your motorcycle stolen in the morning.

If comfort and a non-sore ass are your top criteria then you need to try putting a gel seat or even better get an adventure bike. Sadly, the seats for most motorcycles have a form over function design. The S1000XR is nice two up but I know the first edition rattled your bones with the vibration.

  6. That's confidence alright! I got a Peugeot 125cc to begin with here in the UK ?

Smart thinking Leigh. Always ATGATT. My scarred legs are proof I learnt the hard (and unwise) way while riding in India. I've wisened up now and got some good gear to go with my next bike.

My heart says Aprilia Tuono Factory, my head says KTM SA1290 since I love off-roading and long trips.  Where are you put up in the UK?

I'm in the exact same situation. I launched a 189 and 190 EOI - would like to go to QLD, but might not get a 189 invite in the next year due to current high points situation.

However, the way you should look at it is : the 190 is a stepping stone to get to where you want to get. It's a case of I wait for the 189, I might not get a visa at all, and if I get an EOI for the 190 I will highly likely get an invite in the next few weeks (my points will drop by 5 in September 2019). I'd rather get an OZ visa than not at all.

So I've finally taken the plunge and applied for both 189 and 190 with 75 & 80 points respectively. I'm a management accountant. Based on what I've read in these forums so far I'm hoping for an invite for 190  by end of 2018, a Christmas gift perhaps. Looking at ISCAH's estimates I'll only get an invite for a 189 post-July 2019 which isn't bad either, allows me to save up some more money.

  8. Hi guys,

I recently received my assessment results from CPA Aus and can now begin the application process. Could someone help me with my doubts. I'll be applying under the Management Accountant occupation.

    1. Can I apply for 190, 189 and 489 at the time same time?

    My preference is the 189.

    2. What are the timelines for each one? My points for each visa are.

    189 - 75 points

    489 - 85 points

    190 - 80 points

Any feedback would be very helpful. Thanks

    Pete

I lived in Sydney for 30 years and I knew very few wives who could afford to stay at home.  Very few.  And that was before housing prices rocketed out of sight.    Is there a compelling reason you want to move to Sydney?   If not, I'd rethink.   It is a beautiful place to look at, but not an easy place to live these days.

Apologies for the radio silence. Been made redundant and the timing couldn't have been shittier. Anyway, I do OK in London, one of the main reasons for moving to Aus is to start a family there and the weather is a big big factor. I wouldn't want my kids stuck indoors half the year. I've been looking at some finance managerial roles and even the simplest ones need a CPA or CA. Those are big demands and if that's the general case then I'll have to rethink this whole thing. The other place I have on my mind is Perth. Although it's far away from other cities, I prefer the laid-back culture.

hi@lothar .. when i called cpa to confirm about the degree requirement prior to work experience they told me that without a doubt they only look at the experience we gained and thw duties we used to have in the position. they said as long as the degree is comparable to an australian bachelors they dont bother about the subjects that were covered in that degree. so that means they dont see if all the units were covered before we started working as a management acc or a taxation acc etc ..

    Hi Angjol,

From what I've understood talking to CPA reps and also from their website (and the other accounting bodies) they have clearly listed the subjects that you should have covered in your degree. I think even if the degree is Aus equivalent if you haven't covered the mandatory subjects they will mention this in your evaluation and you will not get the green light until then.

I'm in the midst of this process so some more experienced folks can confirm if I'm right.

Thank You. that was really helpful. Would it be possible to have samples  of the reference letter from the employer too.

This is a very standard format, most companies use the same. Make sure it clearly mentions your start and end date, role, part-time or full-time role, no. of hours worked per week, gross salary and your title. HR will rarely provide a list of responsibilities but your hiring manager could help with this. Use the job description for your role and any additional tasks that you perform but aren't listed in the job spec. HR should be able to provide the job spec. Hope this helps.

I managed to get this done in only 2 out of the 5 companies I have worked for. For the other 3,  prepared a statutory declaration with my responsibilities listed.

    Hope this helps

Do not over estimate how much you might earn or ability get a job. Oz is awash with accountants up to financial manager level. Hence it is flagged for removal from the occupation list.

I have budgeted for 6-7 months to find a job. Hopefully, that's a decent time to find something relevant. Looking at the number of accountants and finance managers from Aus and NZ here in the UK, I can only imagine the numbers there.
