  1. We moved here in January and our Airbnb owners agreed for us to use the address. It didn't take too much hassle changing everything when we moved on.
  2. Good luck! Thanks, we move Jan 3rd so it's real now
  3. Hi, I submitted everything and had a direct grant after just over 3 months. I used an agent and just got a phonecall to say it was granted. Sorry I can't offer any info about requests for HC or PC.
  4. I used a migration agent and they submitted my eoi expressing that i wanted to be considered for 190 nomination from NSW. It seemed to be the same process as the 189 but obviously I didn't have a hands on approach. Others maybe able to give you more information.
  5. Hi, I don't know if this will be much help because my assessment was submitted prior to the cut off dates being introduced. The AASW took about 28/29 weeks to get back to me. I then submitted an application in May of this year for 190 and was invited to apply just around 4 weeks later. And then had my visa granted in September. Sorry for the vague answer re: dates but everything has moved so fast lately. I had 65 points plus an additional 5 for the 190 sponsorship which is why I chose that route. If you have the opportunity to gain points for your English ability take it. Best of luck with your application, Dai.
  6. We opened an account with CBA 2 weeks ago in advance of moving in January. We didn't need anymore information than where we are planning to move and when. Nice and simple so far and just need to attend at the branch when we arrive.
  7. Hi, We front loaded as we had to get a police check from Korea that our agent hadn't done before. When that check came back very quickly we were advised to do the rest as our date for entry would be 12 months from the Korean check. Anyway our grant came through just over 3 months from the application so it wasn't too bad for us. I guess it's your choice to front load or not and I wouldn't want to tell you what to do but I was happy to share our experience.
  8. Wow that's a decent amount of furniture to move. We don't have any where near as much and like for like replacements are coming out at a similar price to shipping for us. We are now just looking at ways to get all of the souvenirs and gifts that mean something over there safely. Practice packing is happening soon lol
  9. Marissa, thanks for the great idea about the virtual shop. It has been a really useful exercise.
  10. We are looking to get a large cube and much of the big stuff that we want to take can flat pack. An afternoon of measuring needs to take place before booking anything though lol
  11. I like the idea of a test shop. We have been thinking of a move cube as we haven't bought expensive furniture having been planning to emigrate for a number of years.
  12. Hi All, Apologies if this has been covered already. Are there any items that people have got to Australia and wish they had brought with them? Or items people are planning to take that they think are a good idea? We have realised we should take an extension lead with a number of British sockets on for our appliances. Starting to think about packing and shipping next month so any pearls of wisdom would be great. Thanks in advance
  13. Just an update for those still waiting. I had a direct grant this morning after 3 months and 2 weeks. It feels amazing. Good luck to those still waiting and I hope you hear soon.
  14. I'm going through an agent so haven't seen my immi accounts. Still waiting though
  15. I will, I can't quite remember my timeline but I started the skills assessment in September 2017, I received a positive assessment approximately the end of March, invite to apply in May and then submitted my application on the 7th of June.
  16. Thanks, I've uploaded my docs so fingers crossed.
  17. Snap, I hit the 3 month mark in early September.
  18. Hi, Apologies if this has been covered but how long have people found that they have waited for contact from a CO after lodging their application? From what I have been able to find, admittedly from only a few examples, it appears to be approximately 3 months. If anyone is willing to share their experiences that would be great. Thanks.
  19. I am using the emigration group. All good so far. Like somebody posted above the agents that post on here are helpful too.
  20. Thank you for your reply. We are following the advice but it was just another worry in the whole process. Thanks again.
  21. Has anyone had experience of obtaining a police check from Korea? Having lived there prior to getting married my wife's check has been returned in her maiden name and the embassy are refusing to put both surnames on the check. DIBP want the checks to be in the application name though. Our emigration agent has advised we submit a signed covering letter explaining the situation, with old visa and passport info attached. We are worried that we have now got this far and this could be a massive hurdle. Any help is appreciated.
  22. Hi All, We've received an invite from NSW after 5 weeks. I'm a social worker and we had 65 points and then 5 more with the sponsorship. Good luck everyone who is waiting ?
