Thank you! I was actually in the same boat as you! We didn’t tell my husbands family because we knew they wouldn’t react well, we made a commitment to tell them when we paid for the visa and we did and they are still incredibly upset -now we have to tell them we got accepted emoji30.png
All I can say is be prepared for a wait, get your house ready for selling, sort your loft out (ours is chaos) and don’t buy any more furniture!

Congratulations on your grant! We will be lodging and paying for our application to NSW next week. We have made the exact same commitment as you, we plan to tell my husband's family after we have lodged. (I guess it doesn't seem real until then). I'm really worried about breaking the news to them. I know they will be heart broken!

  2. I did mine a couple months back. I can be a very anxious person when it comes to exams so found the whole day very stressful, but I came away thinking I had done alright in all 4 areas. My results were S=9 L=8.5 R=9 W=7.5

I was most worried about the writting part but thought I had done ok and may have scraped an 8, but no such luck!

Its a long 2 week wait I remember!

Hope you get the results you want!

  3. I agree with all the above. Definitely make yourself familiar with the format of all 4 parts of the exam. It's also worth practicing the writing part in the given time as you don't want to struggle with the word count on the day. I think they suggest 20 mins for the first part which is the letter, and 40 mins for the second argument/comparison piece.

    Good luck!

    Djwbru,

how many points you got when u lodge your eoi? Im very keen to know as i got 60 +5. Wondering if i will have a chance for 190

    Hi Graban

I also have 60 plus 5 so you definitely have enough points. I think it depends more on your occupation and how in-demand that is.

    Good luck!

Thanks so much for reply...it’s good to know they’re inviting. Sometimes it feels like you may have been lost in the system! Just checking, was your invite recent?

Yes i got invited just over 6 weeks ago. Have submitted my application for sponsorship and we are now waiting for the official invite to apply for the actual visa. Everything's crossed! I keep thinking 'Have I made a mistake with my points claim'??  Hope not!!

I don't know how they decide who to invite and when. Some people seem to get invited really quickly while others are made to wait. Maybe there are alot of registered nurses applying?! Or theres flucturation in the job market for nurses and it's a quiet period. I'm sure there's method to the madness, but doesnt make it any easier when you're having to wait.

I hope you get your invite soon! And you too Pauline. Xx

    Hi all,

Been going through all the threads but none of them seem to address general times for registered nurses. I put in EOI for 70 points including superior English, any idea how long it will be for an invite? I can’t seem to find any statistics on 190 NSW invites at all, only for 189 visas. Thanks so much in advance, want to get back to oz so badly!

I'm a podiatrist with 65 points and I got an invite in about 3 weeks of submitting my EOI. They invite every couple weeks I believe and invites go out on Fridays.

I don't think there's any way of knowing how long it could take. Sit tight I guess! Good luck!

  7. Can I just ask a quick and probably obvious question. When is payment required for a 190 Visa? Is at upfront at time of lodgement? And does that include full payment for dependents also?

Just can't seem to find clarity on this.

Awaiting reply after pre invite application from NSW and wanting to get everything ready to go in hope for a positive outcome!

    TIA

So thinking about applying for nsw 190 ..just have a couple of questions. ...I can't see any number of years of experience for midwives needed....and have any other midwives been invited recently?

I'm an AHP and NSW didn' specify number of years required for work experience that I'm aware of. I have 6 years NHS experience so just claimed points on my EOI for that. If you check their website, there maybe a minimum number of years they require. I'm not sure. Check here maybe...

There are a couple midwives on this thread I think...

  9. Hi fellow 190' ers! I'm currently waiting for my invite to apply for NSW 190. I'm an AHP with 60 points plus 5 with sponsorship.

Invite to apply from NSW:  16th March

We’re also going to to for 190 with NSW. I’m using an agent as time is limited - I have 5 years experience in the last 10 but have been working less than 20 for the last 4 1/2 so need to get the invitation while the 5 years are still valid. Couldn’t afford to make any mistakes and delay it. How long did it take to get the invite after your EOI?

Not long at all! I submitted my EOI on 23rd Feb and received NSW invite to apply for nomination on 16th March. Was hugely surprised at how quickly they invited me as I only have 60 points (65 with sponsorship).

I believe they can take upto 12 weeks after I except the invitation to consider my application before I have an actual invite to apply for the 190 visa.

Fingers crossed you get it sorted it time!

Over 20 hours a week counts and maternity still counts as you were still employed. I’m in a similar situation and using an agent who assures me the maternity leave still counts as being employed. We’re in the early stages and just sent skills assessment to our agent. Will be interested to hear how you get on with your application.

Oh fab thank you! Now I'm sire I have seen that page previously before I submitted my EOI but haven' seen it since. I had it in my head 20 hours was ok but started to doubt myself.

Yes I'll let you know how I get on. I have emailed NSW for confirmation as I didn't want to submit points I can't actually claim. Was thinking that I would have to pull my EOI and resubmit it minus the skilled work points.

My husband isn't keen on using an agent due to the extra cost....its not him doing all the leg work tho! Wish I could persuade him, think it would save a lot of stress on my part. It all seems like such a minefield!

What visa are you applying for?

Well done in getting the invite- no small achievement! I submitted periodic payslips (1 per quarter for every year I was claiming to show I was employed by who I said I was, plus P60s for every year, plus statement of works, recommendation letters, and independent verification of my role. in my case I could provide links to articles, conference proceedings, recorded lectures I’d given. My advice- a bit of extra effort upfront saves stress and scrambling down the road!!

    Thank you ABG!

Sending a selection of payslips is a much better idea!

I've sorted some payslips, all p60s and my employment contract. I hope that will be enough proof!

It's a shame they don' have clearer guidelines as to what is acceptable.

  13. Hi all, newbie here!

Have just received an invite from NSW for 190 visa.

    Firstly, woohoo!!

Secondly, what are peoples experience of this visa process? Any tips?

I have to submit documents supporting my UK skilled work experience. What documents are accepted? I have piles off payslips but didn' fancy having to scan and send them all. Would my end of year p60 for each year suffice? Or a signed statement from my employer?

    Any help or tips welcome!
