    Hi OP,

Sorry to jump on your thread with an incredibly random question, I’ve been looking for info on whether maternity leave is deducted from skilled work experience, and I came across an older thread of yours where you mentioned this being the situation for you. I wondered what the result was for you in the end? I can see you hold a 189, was this awarded with the inclusion of your mat leave time, or did you resubmit an EoI with reduced experience points?

Anything you can share would be much appreciated, cheers!

    Hi,

Oh this was a while ago now, but I believe I didn’t deduct it from my experience points. I think it came to the conclusion I was still in employement and in my line of work I did attend KIP (keep in touch) days throughout my maternity leave and still had to maintain CPD etc. Not sure where a I got the advice for that conclusion from. I did get a lot of advice from a migrant agent during the application process for things like this so it may have been confirmed that way. From memory though I think I was fortunate enough that deducting my maternity wouldn’t have changed my points anyway.

Sorry I can’t be of much help, it was a while ago now. I do remember so many little things like this popping up which aren’t always clear cut. I’d recommend gathering a bunch of questions and talking to an agent to get answers just to be sure.

    Good luck with it all!

  2. We have a 189 and sponsoring a 17 year old. When paying do I do it through my immi account or does the 17 year old crest his own?

If I pay through mine do I have to select “additional applicant”?

If anyone can clarify it would be hugely appreciated!!

I thought the showing the funds part was for when you are applying for your visa.

If you look on the state website it should show you recommended amounts to suit your circumstance. Or at least it does on the SA website.

Thanks Lavers! It was so long ago that I read that (back before applying for visa)  I maybe got confussed. Just wondered if immigration check your funds when actually moving out there.

    Hi, just a quick question.

‘Has anyone applied for AHPRA recently and can give me an idea on timeframe?

We are still waiting for a case worker to be assigned but wanted to get AHPRA sorted so can work as soon as I get there.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Started my application in June 2019, was registered by 1st October. Was fairly straight forward, just time consuming, and I was applying from overseas. Maybe quicker if you are onshore?

    Hello,

I was hoping to get some insight into some recent processing times/timelines for AHPRA overseas registration.

My timeline at the moment is as follows:

AHPRA application posted to Melbourne: 5th August 2019

AHPRA received in office: 19th August 2019

Request for additional information: 30th August 2019

Additional information sent to Melbourne office: 4th Sept 2019

Additional information received: 12th Sept 2019

Confirmation that application was complete and would now be sent to accreditation board: 23rd Sept 2019

All I have been told is that it will take "Some weeks" for the evaluation outcome to be delivered back to me. So I was just wondering if there is anyone on this forum who can give an insight into how long it took for their outcome to be decided?

    Kind regards,

    Daniel

From me sending additional info they requested to the time I was asked to pressnt was just under a month, so fingers crossed you won't be waiting too long!

    Hello Djwbru.

I am hoping to arrive in Melbourne on an ETA visitor visa to finalize my AHPRA registration. You were able to open a bank account in Australia with only a visitor visa and no work visa yet? Did you do this online beforehand or just when you arrived? Also which bank did you use?

How long did it take for final registration after presenting in person to the office?

    Kind regards,

    Daniel Cachaco

    Hi Daniel,

I have perminent residency. Not sure if you can open an account on a visitor visa. I had to show the bank evidence of my perminent residency status.

I opened the account online, then had to finalise it in person at a branch in Australia. You could look at the bank websites to see if there is an account for non residents. I have an account with westpac.

I dont know your background, but I didn't know you could apply for APHRA registration without perminent residency? I had to show them my Visa confirmation in order for them to agree to register me.

    Good luck.

  7. Just to update, popped over to oz, (only a 26hr flight) to show ID docs, took all of 10 minutes. Was registered a week later. I used my uncles address and opened a bank account and the bank were more than happy to print out an account confirmation page which was accepted by AHPRA. The whole process has been a massive ball ache (excuse remark), but finally all sorted!

    Thanks for all your help!

  8. Is it true that if you live in a catchment  the primary school has an obligation to find a place for your child??

We are looking at moving to a certain town and want our child to go to a particular state primary school. We don't want to commit to a house etc before we know she can go to that school.

We have emailed the school but they haven't responded. We need to start to make plans as I start work in january!

    TIA

That's great you have a registration in principle!

I'm also having difficulty with trying to meet their questions/requests before I'm actually in Australia.

Question 7 on the AHPRA ADGF-20 Form asks for a 'Principle Place of Practice' in Australia... Which I don't have because I'm still in the UK and don't have an Aus job yet!
Can you remember what you answered for that question?

Re the whole not having a job before you go out... I'm actually heading out in Oct without a job and applying once I'm there. Loads of my friends have said it's a LOT easier to get a job once you are there because they don't really take people as serious when they're not in the country yet. So just a thought- if you can manage it financially, maybe you should consider heading over anyway!

I just left that bit blank. 😊

  10. Gosh how do people know where to move to without a job to go to!! That sounds scary! It would be easy it it was just me, I could just stay anywhere, but I've got 2 young kids. I can't imagine having to potentially move around looking for work. Well, maybe I will have to but it sounds like such a big risk when you've got little ones.

    Thanks guys :0/

I opened a bank account online with Commonwealth bank, I walked into the branch and showed my ID, verbally gave them the Australian address and then they made sure all bank statements would just be online and not physically mailed. The branch printed off the bank statement and I took it to AHPRA. AHPRA also took the Australian address but I could have a 2nd address for mail. My AHPRA mail comes to my home address in Canada.

Oh my gosh thank you!! I almost cried when I read the letter as I thought I was passed all this faffing about!! It's been one thing after another so far and nothing has been straight forward in this process.

Wanted to book my flight last night but this has made me wait as I wasn't sure what to do! Thank you, it seems straight forward now! 🤞😊

  12. Hi there, just received my in-principle registration and have been invited to present at an AHPRA office with proof of ID. One thing they have asked for is proof of residential address, which I don't have!! I still live in the UK and don't plan on moving without a job offer....which I cant get without registration.

What do people do in this situation? I have opened a Westpac account with my UK address and can add another address to the account. I thought I could use my uncles address or a friends. But, how do I then get proof from the bank? Do I need to receive a statement addressed to an Oz address? I really don't know what to do!

Help, I feel like I've jumped through so many burning hoops to get this far.....!

In March I opened a bank account online, flew over and had the bank print off a statement.  I listed both addresses with the bank, an Australian address and my home address. I provided a friends Australian address. I had read about others who provided the bank with their AirBnB address and this was OK. AHPRA was happy with the  bank statement showing the Australian address.

You also have to keep your boarding pass as proof and print off a copy of your visa. I used a holiday visa and just printed the confirmation.

    Good Luck

Sorry to jump in but I am in the same position as the OP. What bank account did you open and did you need to get a statement or correspondence sent to your friends oz address? I have an uncle in Oz whos address I can use but the trouble is he is travelling up in QL for a few months so wont be able to forward any post to me as he wont be at home.

That’s fab news, congratulations.. was your CO contact for medicals and police check? We had contact for those on 3rd jan so hoping won’t be long once we have sent them ( Waugh g on police checks to come) and have medicals on Friday!

We were contacted for certified copies of birth certificates for 2 of my kids. We had front loaded our medicals and police checks.

Our police checks came back pretty quick when we did ours. Good luck and hope you arent waiting too long 😊

    Hey Djwbru,

Apologies, I don't know the answer to your question, it seems from everything I've read across forums that CO actions can be subjective so there isn't a always a consistent approach. Having to provide a certified copy of a birth certificate when others haven't had to is a good example in itself. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have a clearer copy if you think the CO might take issue.

Could I ask, was your birth certificate issued in the UK and was it a short or long version? I'm trying to work out what I should upload to avoid unnecessary delays.

    Cheers!

Yes, birth certificates are British and all are full versions. From what I've read most people don't get them certified and have no problem. Guess we have just been unlucky!

    Good luck with your application!

You can upload colour scans without needing them certified, which may improve the quality.

Thanks MaggieMay. CO requested I upload certified copies of birth certificates where I had originally only uploaded colour copies. Not sure why, but anyho...thats what they want.

Wondered if them being certified was good enough even tho they are slightly fuzzy in a few places? I have read how some people get asked to supply clearer scanned copies.

    Hi everybody,

I lodged for visa 190 more than 2 months ago and yet received no contact from officer. Is it normal? How long does it take usually to have any kind of contact from them?

besides, I have attached all required documents except health exams and evidence clearance since I heard that it would be better to send them after CO contact. Is it right? Does it make delay on our processing time? Do you advice me to complete and send them or wait for CO contact?

I lodged mine on the 29th June, not a sausage as yet! 2 days short of 4 months since lodgement...121 days...not that I'm counting!!
