  1. Hi everyone,

Thrilled, excited and numb to report that my golden email FINALLY arrived after almost 22 months of waiting. I received a call from my MA about an hour ago.

The approval came through exactly 29 days after I received my s56 request to undertake an updated medical exam.

It has been a challenging, frustrating and exhausting ride. I'll post more about my process here later, as I feel like I learned a lot that could help others. But for now I have to try to concentrate at work whilst I process this great news!

Could an admin update my status on the spreadsheet? I'm CD on the October 2017 worksheet.

  2. Quick question for those who have had to undertake the medical exam more than once due to expiry. How does one know if their second medical exam has cleared?

The email from BUPA said to give 5 business days and then look at my immi account, but the message below has remained the same since the first time.

    Will I receive an email?

  3. Hi everyone,

I was really starting to lose hope that I would not get the opportunity to say this, but I got my silver email today. After 21 months my nomination application was finally approved.

The department requested additional documents from my employer in June (ironically while I was overseas), and 42 days later the nomination was approved. They've requested that I complete a new medical (not surprising given that my exam was undertaken in Nov 2017) for my personal application.

I'm not celebrating yet as I have another hurdle to jump.

But, shout out to my 2017 buddies, they will get to you too!!!

    Hey There

Seems so ridiculous that more recent applications seem to have priority processing over older ones, but who knows what goes on in the immi offices.

Hoping i'm not alone from 2017 🙏 Is there anyone else stuck in the back log like me?

I'm with you, mate. Slowly rotting at the back of this nonsensical queue.

@Beingme Just an FYI - I have heard in the past that complaints typically don't get answered, not unless the wait is at least 2x the said waiting period.
    - If that's true, it means you'd need to wait twice as long as you should (based off their time lines) before anyone will do anything about it.

    Hi @Beingme

I totally feel your pain. This wait is excruciating,  but Hex is right. I spoke with the Department a few weeks ago regarding my application and they advised that they don't have capacity to accelerate a case until it hits double the posted processing time. So, in my case that wouldn't be for another 8 months...

It is so hard to do, but I really recommend just trying to live your life and ignore this frustrating wait. Think about the things you enjoy.

Well, I have been waiting for more than 18 months now, and every time I have called the department to ask about my application progress (mentioning I am well past the processing times), I’ve been given the generic answer « 10% of the applications are processed outside of the processing times so all you can do is wait ». Or in other words « we can’t be bothered looking into your file even though you’ve been waiting for ages, and we’ll just grant some other PRs, but not yours at the moment, don’t ask why ».

Today a nice operator actually looked into my file and told me they are « considering » (not sure what it means) my application at the moment and they can’t comment about why it is taking so long. Also, unless your waiting time is TWICE the maximum processing time, they can’t escalate the file to the processing team. So in the case of a DE application, unless you’ve been waiting 26 months without being contacted, all you can do is wait. Escalating it earlier than these 26 months would just result in the file being de-escalated because they have to follow the protocol.

I had never been given this figure before, so I’m just dropping this piece of info for those who have been waiting for a long time (and who have likely applied for one of these unwanted occupations). Looks like there actually IS a light at the end of the 26 months tunnel!

Thanks for this Charly! Ironically, I was just about to post the same thing. Sharing with everyone as it sounds like this isn't an anomaly:

I too rang last week in an attempt to get some clarity. Long story short, but my dad is in the hospital (for the 3rd time since I started this process), so I was really wondering if I'd need to apply for another BVB to go home and visit him.

The customer service rep was super friendly and put me on hold to look at my application, but she came back with the same response that they can't really accelerate things until we're at double the time.

What IS giving me hope is that if they keep bringing down the posted application processing times for 75% and 90% we might end up doubling those times sooner rather than later?  Maybe the tunnel will get mildly shorter for us?

A standard equivalent would suffice, the MA would bascailly send the information of your increase, including the "standard" rate for this to Immigration.

I've never heard of an issue if you earn more than expected (within reason), and this typically only becomes an issue if you are earning well below market rate for the role.

Awesome.  Thanks. I thought her email was a bit odd... our salaries are all market rate so I would presume that there's no concern about under payment.

  8. Hi everyone,

I'm clocking over into the 16 month mark soon, and to celebrate the universe has rewarded me by making my MA graduate to almost completly useless. Ha. Kidding... trying to maintain the possie vibes, but it is getting harder evey day.

I sent her a message as my company rewarded me with a salary increase at the beginning of the year and my MA responded with an ambiguous:

'We will also need to provide new evidence of equivalent wages. So we will also need payslips at the same rate of another worker in your role.'

Does anyone have experience with this? Does she mean within our company or as an industry standard benchmark? There's no one in my company in the exact same role, but others at a similar level. Is that what she means?

Yes, you will just have to advice the Immigration Department through form 1022 (Changes of Circumstances) and that is it. 😃

    Go for it!!!!!

Wait, are you for real???  That's all it is?

I thought that surely that if I were to take maternity leave during this wait then that would indicate that my business doesn't "need me"?

A note to mention that I haven't spoken to my MA about this, but I have just been delaying family planning until everything is resolved to be 100% certain that I don't give the DIBP a reason to reject my application.

Thank you! A glimmer of hope on this weird day.

Our offices lost power today due to the heat wave in Melbourne and we had to cancel a major event. Fun times. Maybe the universe will repay me with my PR soon. Please?!

Keeping your body and mind in good shape not only clears your mind from this horrendously long wait but think will also make it that more satisfying when the inevitable day comes that you find out you are here for life! Get another bottle of the good stuff!

As Bella says, law of attraction and all! I’ll be getting one myself this weekend  hopefully when mine comes through, I will immediately stop what I’m doing, whether I’m at work or out and about. Go home, Get the bottle and a cigar and going to the Opera House to crack it open and celebrate with a view of the glorious Harbour Bridge!

I love it! I think Bella is on to something.  Looks like i need to replenish my 'bottle of attraction.' Hahaha  🍾

It’s coming mate, sounds like a question of when not if, stay positive and occupied and I think it will come quicker 😀

Thanks mate! I've started doing spin classes as a much healthier distraction than repeatedly downing the bottles of wine that I bought to put away for my "golden email celebration day". I had one that was in the fridge for 3 months... and then I couldn't take it anymore. Ha!

I tend to agree with this, there was someone a few pages back that got their visa within 5 months of application.

I myself received my visa before the 10 / 12 month (75% at the time) - so there are definitely people that get their visas before the allocated time frames.

    - My opinion is that, unless your visa process goes into "Further Assessment", you should get your visa outcome within the said time frames, if not sooner. (There are some exceptions to the case).

There are definitely exceptions. My application was submitted decision-ready, I'm from a LR country, I've submitted updated police certificates for all those that have expired and I'm just about to "celebrate" my 15 month anniversary of this punishing wait.

I need some of the positive vibes, lovely people! I've even started every morning with a "today is the day" mantra and it isn't helping.

And I believe that most of these people work in occupations that have been taken off the skill list in march.

While I think there's definitely some truth to this logic, I'm not sure it's the only reason behind the delay. My occupation is still on the list, and it's taking ages.

That said, I have noticed other Marketing Specialists apps have encountered longer processing timelines.

Any one applied last year still waiting?

Seems that department is now processing 2018 applications in full swing, leaving 2017 people in hanging state.

Please could someone with access update the spreadsheet - February row 18 (HC)

Been reading the forum for a while, so thanks for your support over these last few months.

Good luck to everyone - wish you the best.

     Massive congrats @hpc!

Can I ask if your employer has sponsored others before and if it's a large or small company?

We're in the same boat (Marketing Specialist, LR, DE, 1 applicant), but I applied in Oct 2017 and still waiting. Argh.

    Your grant gives me hope!
