This is such a good comment! You're absolutely right. Almost everyone I know in Scotland heads over to somewhere warm in Europe for a short or longer break over summer. Or even further over Christmas to get that "winter sun". I'm not sure myself when people say Perth is isolated. Isolated from what? If it's quaint little towns and history - then you'll have to really go back to the UK to find that - sure some exist in Australia but can it be that?
Isolated from what I've always wondered? Vast millions of people? The Opera House ? (ok yes it's a bit isolated from that!) but what?

Why is it isolated? Its not like once you get here you cant get out, get on a plane, it not a problem.
That’s right you can’t get anywhere unless you fly. Everything major in Australia is on the East coast, the West is very isolated

Brilliant area. Newcastle itself is booming and you have the Hunter Valley and Lake Maquarie on your doorstep.

I wore mine everywhere. Not just on walking tracks, but also to work and in the city (great for bar hopping!), goes well with both trousers, jeans, shorts, etc...
If you plan on going for interviews, or working in an office, then a nice smart pair of shoes will be needed.
Flip flops are good for the beach.
Thongs not flip flops
