  1. Excellent, thanks for this. Before January we intend on visiting Australia for a few weeks holiday.... would the visa for this short trip interfere with application for 417? Would it be better to visit Australia and then when back home, apply for 417 to start in January?
  2. Will have to just do periodic visits until the 189 is approved then. Hope it doesn't take long!
  3. OK great - thanks for all the input so far guys. Really appreciate it! Spouse is over 30 so cannot apply for a 417. He runs an IT company in UK which, when 189 is granted he will bring to Australia. Is there any visa he could apply for to allow him to stay + work in Australia during this process?
  4. Hi there, Job in Australia starts in January 2018 - plan is to apply for 417 to cover this, and while working in Australia, the plan is to have the 189 application processing. I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering: 1. If I apply for 417 and this is granted in October, can I then do EOI/application for 189 while still in UK? 2. If 189 is granted before 417 expires, does the 189 just replace 417? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for clarifying this - sorry I made a mistake, it should be "Special Needs Teacher" in the opening post. Yes, she has completed a Masters Degree at Uni.
  6. She got a 9. I haven't done an IELTS as we were originally going to just apply for a 189 and I'm not required to obtain IELTS.
  7. I'm aware of that and mentioned it above (7-12 months) which is why I asked if taking up a 417 to get out there is a good option... and then while working in Australia, the 189 can process...
  8. Hi there, Would be grateful for any assistance with this as we have a bit of a dilema. Background: Wife is intending to obtain a 189 visa as a Primary School Teacher, has IELTS and is currently waiting for Skills Asssesment to return (5 weeks have passed since acknowledgement). Dilema: She has had an interview for a teaching job in Australia and has been successful. Job requires her to start in February 2018. Currently, 189 visa appears to take 7-12 months to obtain, which would go beyond February 2018. _________________________________________ Would it be a good route to take up a 417 - Working Holiday Visa (takes up to 1 month to obtain) to allow her to start this new job in February and once 417 has been granted, apply for 189? If so, as her Spouse I'm presuming I'd have to wait in the UK until the 189 is granted? I'm 32 years old so cannot apply for a 417. Would really appreciate any help/tips with this. Thanks for your time.
  9. @DukeNinja was it fairly easy to apply for the 189 without use of an agent? How did you find the entire process?
  10. Hello, My wife and I are planning to emigrate to Australia - she is a Special Needs / Primary School Teacher. We hope to trigger our application in Early August... So far she's already completed the IELTS test with maximum points - the next step is to complete a EOI. We've had an eligibility test and everything looks great. Our situation is quite straightforward - no health issues, criminal convictions etc. So, my question is: 1. Should we hire an agent for the application? 2. How much would it cost to hire an agent for the entire process roughly? 3. Can anyone recommend an agent? We'd greatly appreciate any advice! Thanks
