  1. I just passed the IELTS test and now i have reach the 60 points for 189 subclass application, and my major is 263311 Telecommunication engineer. In the past year, the occupation ceiling value is 1000 for 263311 and till now the quote is not used up... I want to know what the probability of approval is if i submit my application under 263311 with 60 points? and if i prepare the needed documents from today, how long does it need to get the visa application approved? Thanks a lot!
  2. thanks for your reply, Samson. Can i ask where i can confirm this by following maybe some official policy? I heard so many versions of the possibilities of my situation...
  3. i think "If you haven't yet submitted your application for your 457" covers my case that i haven't submitted the personal application but the employer nomination is approved?
  4. very similar situation as yours. May i ask you some questions if you don't mind? i received the approved employer nomination earlier last month which is granted 4 years. Now my occupation is moved to CSOL. I haven't submitted my personal application yet (which is the last step for 457). I am just wondering if i submit it soon, will i be granted 2 or 4 years? I ask so many agents and they gave me different answers... really confused... Appreciate your help in advance!
  5. Hi Maggie, hope to seek some advice from you at a professional angle.

For my 457 visa application, my nomination from the employer was approved at the beginning of April which is four years according to the old policy.

I haven't submitted my personal visa application yet (which is the last step required). However, under the new policy issued on 18 April, my occupation falls in the STSOL instead of the MLTSSL. Am i gonna be granted two years or four years of working visa if I submit my application on June and assume it gets approved?

I have asked some local agents and they tell me different stories about my situation. So confused right now.

Hope to seek some help here. Thanks!

Sorry, I'm not an expert so can't comment.  I think until updated migration regulations are published following approved changes to visa requirements, even migration agents are stuck waiting to know exactly what the outcome will be.

  6. thanks, Beffers. I just found the information in the following link that echoes what you said:http://www.salvomigration.com.au/blog/457-visas-abolished-are-you-affected-everything-you-need-to-know. hope this may be useful to others having similar confusions.
  7. I got a job offer from University of Sydney earlier this year as a researcher. They sponsored me (Step 1) and I got the nomination last week (Step 3) under 2421111 university lecture which is not on the MLTSSL list. I am on the process of preparing the required documents in the checklist and about to start my application on the immi system (Step 3), but the gov announced the abolishment of 457. I'm not sure whether i should proceed on my application (Step 3) or not? will my application be affected by the new rule? if not affected, can i still enjoy the two year permanent residence eligibility? Thanks in advanced.
