  1. Did you have any joy? We are thinking the same thing but you have to do roof truss etc on skills assesment dont you? My husband is a floor fitter (not on the list at the min) but also fits wooden floors and has to do all the sub floors. Looking at different ways to go. Hope you got somewhere. Did you find a good migration expert?

Think ill call some people in a few weeks like you said. We obviously would like to move for good but id take a few years over nothing plus they do change things all the time. Just getting to the point where id reather say we tried than regretting things later so even a few yeara would be good i guess. Fingers crossed we find a way. Thanks for replying

I know...its just a nightmare. Fingers crossed he fits some other trade. Maybe joiner as wood floors or floor tiler as karndean is classed as a luxury vinyl tile. Either that or im gonna have to get my butt back to work (im 2 years younger) and see what i can pull out the bag. Cheers

    Visa worries

So new updated list is out. Floor finisher didnt go back on ?. We went as a family in feb, met a guy who wanted to sponsor paul and he asked paul to go over in june and he booked flights and accommodation etc for him. But then in april we got took off the list... So paul went in june so he coukd see the work they do and offer advise as to how he'd fit it and tell them what materials etc he'd use so kind of a 2 week job interview. Just thinking we're going to have to look at what other things you need for other visas. He fits saftey flooring, carpets, karndean and has done wood flooring too plus all the sub floor things. Ive not worked since having the kids. We sold our flooring company when number 2 baby came along but at the minute i do photography and trying to build work up doing that. I always worked in retail before this. Just hard knowing a company wants him. He wants to work for them and will even be training people eventually if we get there, but at the min we cant go. Is there any point in calling a few migration people? If so can anyone recommend who could deal with a funny situation? Ove always believed in where theres a will theres a way but pauls creeping up in age (hes 43) we want to be there asap lol Thanks for reading this huge post. Your all fab! Tricia x
  6. We're in the same boat. My hubby is 43 and we have a job offer and were ready to go ahead. Infact we had 3 job offers of people who wanted to sponsor us. Things were finally starting to go right. Dont give up yet. Look at how fast this changed..maybe we'll find another way.
  7. Thanks so much. Im not on the list. We used to have a flooring business so i worked there til i had our second baby (took the first one to work with me everyday lol) second one had hip problems so we sold up so i could look after both kids. Shes had the all clear now ( thank god). Its a nightmare. We just want to move, work and pay tax and give the kids a bit of a different life. We've been to australia 5 times and love it. Typical when the times right, everyones well, we have the money and a job offer but still cant go. Hopefully we'll make it in the end. Keep looking for jobs to maybe go back on...well thats what we're hoping
  8. So finally spoke to our migration lady (she was on holiday) even though my hubby has a sponsor (floor finisher) looks like its not gonna happen for us (yet) he's still going in June as the company has paid for him to go over and see how they work and they are hoping it'll somehow workout as they really want him. They can't find people for all the work they have booked in with the games coming up. Hopefully he'll go over, love the way they work and as soon as it comes possible that somehow we can go we will. Ill just keep saving and pounce if they ever change the lists. So sad that for now we cant plan to move. I was all ready to pack up and go...so where the kids.
  9. We are trying to get intouch with the agent that we picked to go with but engaged all the time at the min. Ive sent an email. As a family we'd move tomorrow. We took the kids in feb to see what they thought and they're on board too. Thanks so much for your response. Fingers crossed
  10. We're all up in the air now. My husband is a floor finisher. We went over in feb and found a sponsor. The sponsor has paid for paul to go in june for 2 weeks to look at the work he will be doing ( paul fits karndean, saftery floor, carpets etc) but they do things different in australia then we were putting in for our visa. Now we've been taken off the list. Really need to find a way round it. To be honest the man would like us there asap with the games coming up and storm damage he has a lot of work on. Hope something turns up where we can still go. We gad 3 people interested in sponsoring us as such a shortage of good fitters. Agghhhhhhh
