We’ve had a week of turmoil from 18/4/17. I have been going through the process of a job interview over the last 4 weeks and was offered the position on the 18/4/17 and then found out 10 minutes later about the abolition of the 457 visa. The company that has offered me the job have been trying to find an Australian employee for nearly 12 months with no joy, they manufacture parts for the Joint Strike force (JSF) program, which is a Government contract.I am 47 and as you can imagine before the announcement it was our last opportunity to be able to emigrate with the possibility to get PR but as my occupation is on the STOL list this only allows me to get a 2-year visa…My partner has family (father and brother) who are Australian citizens and have been living there for 40+ years. So now I’m at a crossroads in life and feel that the job I fought so passionately to win may have to be given up…what are the possibilities of getting PR if any at all.Any information on available options would be much appreciated.
