Incase you didn't know, the points requirement for 489 is only for family sponsored. State nominated 489 is still at 60. I received my at 60.I have an EOI in for a 189 and 190 NSW. I am hoping the 489 points requirement will reduce from 90 in July. I have 70.
I will get 5 extra points in December so that is a plus.- 2

@woody2709 we are doing our first landing next week and will have a look at some suburbs, schools etc.. We plan to make our final move in Q4 later this year. Job hunt is going to be challenging so a bit apprehensive about that.
What are your plans like?
I fly out next week permanently. Very excited

Thanks KPG, what are your future plansenjoy ur new life woody2709 -
I'm flying out in a few weeks to Darwin. Not 100% about staying in other areas/states but I'm going to stick to the NT regardless for the foreseeable future.@Sagga as far as my knowledge goes its not a mandatory requirement to work in the same field as your occupation and it wont jeopardize your future prospects of getting a PR. This is what I got to know from my agent for SA state nomination. All the best.
When are you making the move? Do you also have the option of working in other low population areas or have to stick to Tasmania only? -

Hi.
Can someone pls advise me in subclass 489 - tasmania. Once grant received we can work in any occupation or it has to be in the nominated occupation. I m asking this from a subclass 887 perspective as I don't want to mess up with that as it is a hope for pr.
Also I m unable to find any information about above query on dibp too.
The information is on the dibp website. You can work in any occupation. Heres the link https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/visa-1/887-?modal=/visas/supporting/Pages/887/eligibility-living-requirement.aspx

Yeah I'm after a particular vehicle and there arnt many in Darwin. Plus vehicles are always much cheaper down south compared to the NTIs there a special reason to buy a vehicle from Perth?- 1
-
Are there rules etc that you have to fly directly into the state that you received your nomination from? Looking at flying into perth to buy a vehicle then driving it to darwin, my 489 is for NT.

Hi all,
I've put this post on couple of the threads but haven't had much luck yet so thought I would try with you guys as you've had some success with the 489 Skilled Visa.
I've got an invitation to apply but I am a bit stuck on the Employment History section and the Skills Assessment bit. I have been assessed by VETASSESS for my current role (Health Promotion). However, I only have a positive skills assessment for 2.1 of the 3.1 years I've worked in that role. Is there a way on the visa application to separate the 'relevant' skilled experience with the 'non relevant' when its the same job? Or, do I just include my work history for this role (3.1 years) and whoever reviews my visa application will see from my skills assessment that 2.1 years is deemed 'relevant' and 1 year is deemed 'not relevant'? I haven't claimed any points for my work experience on my EOI. I don't know if I am just overthinking this but I just don't want to get it wrong. Any one got any experience of this where VETASSESS takes a 1 year off for 'training to the appropriate skill level'?
Health Promotion: 65 + 10 SS
State Nomination: April 2018
Invitation: May 2018
Thanks,
Suzie
4Hi Suzie, was the 1st year your training? Skills assessments and the way immi view your work experience is only post qualification. So if you worked for 3.1 years, and was training for 1. Then it only classes as 2.1 years experience
-
Maybe try contacting some of the MARA agents on the site, they will be able to help out. As without your NVQ, but do have a positive skills assessment I'm not sure in how immi will go about awarding points.
-
If you are referring to the section that says -
An award or qualification recognized by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation.
Then this refers to 10 points for your Uk trade qualification that is confirmed by your skills assessment (VETASSESS). You will not receive 10 for your UK qualification as well as 10 for your skills assessment.

Unless something has recently changed, correct me if I'm wrong ......
-
SKills assessments are a mandatory part of skilled visa applications and do not award visa points as you would not be able to apply without it.

Mine just took just over 3 months from application to grant. But it was a very simple application as a single applicant. Good luck to everyone still waiting

Hi YGAR, are you applying for a family-sponsored 489 or state nominated 489?
-
The only thing with applying for your TFN is you need an address to receive it. I applied for my TFN in 2014 and they would only send it to an actual building address in oz.
Individual accounts with a joint savings account would be a good idea. Commonwealth bank is probably the best.
Depending on what you intend to do in your week, take all important documents. Never know what you might need in any case.
Mobile phone contracts are super expensive for what you get compared to here in the UK. Wildcard company I've used since 2014 'Amaysim' are a budget brand that has always been great all over oz in my own opinion. They're the comparison to Three in the UK. But don't have stores etc so need to apply online. Tonnes cheaper than most other companies.
Job searching would be a great idea, so take all CVs and certs out with you.
Hire a car and explore neighborhoods in the area your thinking of living.
Apply for a state drivers license. The whole process is pretty quick if you have a UK license.
Search cost of suitable vehicles in your area, or even purchase it and store it somewhere for your return. Buying cars in oz is a breeze.

What's really cool about your timelines is that your NT state sponsorship happened in 3 days!

Anyone know if onshore visa applications are being fastracked as a result of COVID? I’ve seen they have put all overseas applications on hold until travel restrictions are lifted. I’m in the process of get my 887 visa started and just wondered if the home affairs timeframe guide is void as they’re not processing nearly 3/4 of offshore applications
