  1. Thank u, l had thot of most of them.apart from the tax...is that only if you are sending money bk to UK u need to.inform them?
  2. We are due to move in the next few months, my question is who do we need to inform about the fact we are immigrating. Anyone???...or...No-one???
  3. Thanks everyone for the info...l am loosing the will to live waiting on our hse selling...we have so much to organise but can't do a thing as we r in limbo [emoji24]
  4. It looks like we are going to have to do a validation trip after all. We are state sponsored by the NT on a 489 visa, but we just want to come into the country to activate our visas and return to the UK within the shortest feasible time due to the cost. On googling flights they seem to come in pricey for the NT so my question is can we land anywhere (cheapest) in Australia to activate our visas?
  5. Thank you Can for another great response that's got me thinking. Thanks again...lm thinking my hubby might be right on this one...only this one mind [emoji2]x
  6. Wonderingaloud this is the response l have read over 3 or 4 times since wakening up. You have prob turned my decision round as l was looking at renting it out through rose tinted glasses ..having a great tenant...paying off the mortgage...having a safety net etc but l haven't even considered se of your points. Thank you, when l prob do a big u turn with my husband however l prob won't tell him that a person whom lve nvr met before helped change my decision and just tell him lve listened to all his valid points and agree with him on this occasion [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Thanks again for highlighting your experience x
  7. Sometimes it's hard being the grounded one all the time. I like to tell myself lm the get up and go kinda girl but in reality although lm most def the doer in our family lm also the worrier about what might happen if we do and what it goes wrong. Mrs Negative Is me [emoji23]
  8. That last sentence has totally hit hard there and makes a lot of sense. Thank you my husband has raised many of your points but when we talk we seem to get into a power struggle and don't properly listen to each other. Thanks
  9. I'm with you on this, l like to have all angles covered....the hubby calls me a stress head...and l need to chill...it will always work out he says...what will be will be is his motto. I wish sometimes l had a bit more of that attitude in me but lm a planner...for nxt week...nxt year...for when the kids finish school...and the list goes on lol.
  10. My husband and l are torn with what to do with our house here in the UK. We currently have it up for sale but deep down l don't want it to sell as l would like to rent it out. Im coming from a kind of negative angle l suppose...incase we return, incase it doesn't work out in Oz, incase one of us doesn't settle, then we have something to come back too, and why not let someone pay the mortgage while we our adventure??? My husband says we need to think positive, and he doesn't want the hassle of renting and all the problems that comes with it when were on the other side of the world. My husband and l think differently... he's from mars lm from Venus kinda thing...l like to plan and think about the future...while he lives for the here and now!!!! I just don't know what to do on this one
  11. Yes l totally understand it must be frustrating for them when people do not stay. Me on the other hand was also frustrated that l worked really hard to get enough points to get the 190 but only got offered the 489. At the end of the day though l still regard myself as very lucky to have got any visa at all, as it seems to have became alot more difficult since July. Im sure we will be just fine on the 489 Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  12. Yes that's what l was told from other sources also, but l dont understand it as the obligation to stay in the sponsoring state is the same for both the 190 and 489 visa. I wanted the 190 visa basically because of medicare and some of the jobs l will be applying for require Permanent residency which is unfortunate. Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  13. Hi, Yes there is. I also scored enough points for the 190 visa but was only issued the 489 visa. On contacting NT was told they only issue 489 visa initially for some reason Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  14. We lodged our application in April and received our approved 489 visas last week. Im sure l read that there are 2 dates in Aug in which they are releasing visas, the 9th and the 23rd possibly Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  15. My visa was approved today, it's just got very real, happy happy [emoji4] Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app

  17. Well, all the very best when that news does come...l hope Oz is all you hope it to be and more. Trudi Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  18. Hi Pete, If you are like me l hate wasting money and l see a trip that l dont need as just that, however lm starting to realise it may become necessary with the current timescales. Can l ask how long you have been waiting and where you intend going once there. Trudi Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  19. Thanks again verystormy Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  20. Thanks for the reply, was hoping not to do it this way tbh as it's a few grand that we could really do to save, but it looks like this is something we are going to have to do. Do you know how the issuing of the visas work? I mean, are immigration limited to how many are issued per month, for example? Is there a certain date each month that they release who has been granted or is could any day be the day? Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
  21. My application was lodged in April for State Sponsored (NT) 489 visa...Police checks and Medical completed May 23rd. More information requested for medical, now health declaration showing finalised on the online system, and stating decision will be made within the agreed processing times. I believe the processing times will be taken from April, but the 12 months to activate the visa (if they give us one) will be from May when my Pc were done. Im worried we don't hear for a few months yet then we only have a limited to get the house on the market etc. How has everyone else worked this, am l panicking for nothing, what are the usual processing times for the 489 visa. My OH who is horizontal says it will all work out Sent from my E6653 using PomsinOz mobile app
