  1. I think it’s just a job offer, they’re creating it just for me so I think they’re happy to wait until we sort our visas out. Probably best so we can hopefully get a 189 if the points drop. It’s actually impossible to get 80 points as an accountant as you can’t have the experience and qualification and be under an age to give more points. She’s 31 and has 75 and that because she got 20 points on the English test. Madness feels so hard and she’s super qualified, I know they get a lot of accountants apply but most are from China. Long process ahead.
  2. I think it’s just a job offer and your right it’s a big risk even if it was sponsorship to sell your house etc and if it doesn’t work out. My wife will apply for a permanent visa but again not easy being an accountant. Still at 80 points and she has 75.
  3. Hi guys have just had a job offer in Australia and unsure on what the next step should be. I’m a landscape gardener and run my own business and have 18 years experience but no qualifications. We were originally going to apply through the wife’s side of things as she’s an accountant but the points are still at 80 for a general accountant and she has 75 we believe. She is about to get her skills accessed and now I have a job offer through and don’t know what to do next. And help really appreciated as always.
  4. Yeh some good advise I just need to get over first I miss it so much. I think rent for 6 months and if we’re still all good buy somewhere after lots of research and I’m sure we’ll get told what we can borrow then take it from there. So much to sort first seems stupid discussing but I also need to know what money I could accept with a job offer so all worth knowing.
  5. We went to two Mara agents and one told us about several different option but not to worry until she’s had her skills assessed, and best to go for 189 and the points will drop in time. The second didn’t want to know until her skills were assessed. I know having a daughter from another relationship is tricky but we have her mother’s permission and she’s very keen to go so just have to take it one step at a time. The wife said she needs to get together a while load of paper work for the assessment so not a five minute job. I’m not even sure what you get at the end of it?
  6. We would earn $150,000 between us, wish it was the higher amount!
  7. Sounds amazing and exactly how we intend to do things. Just need to get our foot in the door. Things are pretty rubbish in the uk and with Brexit coming I’m sure they will be worse for a while. Time for anew life down under.
  8. When we visited we were lucky enough to have friends in the north so did a fair bit of driving around and like so much so like you say set up base temporarily then spend weekends driving around and see what suits to our jobs. I expect wife will be in CBD but I’ll be in suburbs plus we will have a sixteen year old from a previous relationship and a 1 year old. Lots to arrange and just hope we can get our EOI in as soon as possible then at least the ball is rolling. I take it you don’t regret the move? Things are getting very toxic in England and when we visited Australia we didn’t want to come home. If it wasn’t for the flight I’d do another holiday but really I’d like the next time to be a one way ticket.
  9. We would like a nice place with a pool and I know it will depend on the area you live, we’re really only at the start as we were told the wife needed superior in the language test which she now has so she will now get assessed. She’s an accountant so not easy but hoping for a 189 on 75 points[emoji45] in the mean time I’ve Skyped an employer in oz and I might get a job offer through in a few weeks if all went well, I’m landscaper self employed for 17 years so we’re not sure where it will leave us after that. Visas are a mine field. We want the quickest rout but I need at least 3 year visa to start or I don’t think I’d settle so permanent is really for us. Just wish there was an easier way but I know it will be a long process. We’ll get a Mara agent once we have been skill accessed. We’ve contacted two but say not much we can do until assessed. See how we go just nice to budget for the future. Thank you for responding.
  10. That’s very interesting thank you. What sort of deposits are needed?
  11. I feel my question was a bit silly now, your right so many factors. I guess I was seeing what would be an appropriate budget to for renting if we were on around 12000 per month, that way we could at least look at what areas we could afford. Sounds like you wouldn’t waste time renting? We’d hope to sell our house and have 100k sterling to invest in an Australian property once we know we’ve settled and all is well ( not to much home sickness I hope) seems logical to rent I thought.
  12. Thank you, accountants have come back on but at 80 points but it was of for ages before that. Hopefully when the new rounds start they’ll accept 75 points.
  13. Was just wondering what sort of rental budget then later to buy on expected earnings jointly of £150,000 to £200,000 a year in Brisbane south or north not in the centre. Or any suggestions on what areas suit that budget. Thank you kindly. Darren.
  14. Yes I know we can go as a family just wanted to know which one is best and quickest to get there, keep applying on the wife’s 189 application or me to accept a job offer and be sponsored? Cheers Darren
  15. I had a great Skype meeting with a landscape gardener in Brisbane that could lead to a job offer. I’m self employed sole trader and have been since 2001. Just wondered what the process would be if I got an offer and how long that might take. Also my wife is about to get her skill accessed for an accountant and will have 75 points we think. So really not sure what we should do or can we keep applying for both. I feel sponsored visa is a big risk such as hoping you like that job etc and can we keep applying once over there for a 189 if that’s the one we go for? Bit of a mine field I feel. Cheers.
  16. Hi guys my wife has just carried out her exam for the second time as she needs 20 point from it so Top marks really. The first exam she got an average of 74 and second time 90. But a few in the second test such as spelling and written discorce she got low marks but aced them in the first test. Can these be combined or do those areas not matter so much which is what we’re told. I fail to see how she can get 90 odd on spelling in the first and really low in the second when that test went much better. But if she gets the 20 points it’s not worth arguing over I feel. See what you guys think. Cheers Darren.
  17. Hopefully they won’t or we’ll never get out their. We’ll just go down the 189 route and get the 75 points and hope to get invited. I’d like England to be more like OZ but unfortunately we’re finding it hard to get in ourselves! When it’s something you think about every minute of every day you tend to be impatient sometimes.
  18. Are there any job sites that are best for people that want to get sponsored? We really have no idea the best way to get sponsored. The wife is an accountant but it’s very hard to get the 75 points. Currently on 65 after an English exam, needed 90% for the 20 extra points. So trying to look at all options.
  19. If I started or wanted to start my own business as I run one in Uk how does that work with getting a visa?
  20. Hi I’ve been on before discussing my wife getting a points base visa for a general accountant, turns out to be very hard, after doing the English test she was 4 marks of 90% required for 20 points so she gets 10 points, she will do it again but at this stage she only has 65 and needs 75! She’s chartered and has a law degree but still a big hill to clime plus their not taking any accountants right now. We are now looking at new avenues such as sponsorship but don’t know where to leave ok or how to go about starting also I am looking at trying on my skill as a landscape gardener and designer but I don’t have formal qualifications as I run the family business. I have 16 years experience and a very nice website but that’s your lot so I’m guessing my options are limited. Any options or ideas would be great, we are desperate to go back and start a new chapter in our lives but getting their seems more and more difficult. Thanks guys.
  21. That’s what we were hoping and hopefully will go up in the next rounds. Thanks for that.
  22. Hi there I thought id tag on this post, after speaking to our migration guy it turned out that next to accounting and how many points they need it says N/A and he didnt really know why, does anyone have any ideas, bit of a worry but were not quite ready yet as need to complete superior English test and to be skills assessed so got a while before we get all together and the 75 points we hope will be enough for general accountant. Any thoughts on this?
  23. Thank you that’s some good input and will pass the advise on to the wife.
  24. Hi my wife has been told that we or she will need to take an English test and the Top one for points is the Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) equivalent) for a massive 20 points. Does anyone know what the test involves, types of question you can expect and how long the test is? She’s a chartered accountant and has been advised a the best option is (General) ANZSCO 221111 And a rough estimate is she’s on 55 points and will need 75 so best way would be to bump up the points via an English test, obviously the one I listed is the hardest giving 20 points but others are available with less points but just be good to know what was involved. Cheers guys.
