  1. If you just regularly check the hospital websites for current vacancies (google the hospitals in the areas you want) and apply direct. Not sure abt a 457 for this tho. My step sister applied direct for different visa which gave them PR straight away and got a job via telephone interview. Maybe check out other visa options too!
  2. When we did ours, they had a run on catching up and their timescales were 35 days, and we got ours spot on the 35th day... hopefully yours will be soon!
  3. There isn't any official policy as yet. This is being brought in through stages, it is being updated stage by stage and I don't think anyone knows what's going on truly as yet. (I'm in country on a current 457 and we are awaiting agents updating us about the whole process) there's no definitives at the moment, it's all up in the air.
  4. My hubby replied to this thread above (tazmancblue) and I wanted to add, your earnings will be sufficient, definitely, at least short term. Melbourne doesn't have to be mega expensive. We live in a nice area and rents are high, but we don't have kids. There are several areas close to the beach/seaside that won't cripple you financially. Altona is up the road from us and has a lovely beach. Point cook is a large created village town type area. Huge houses, vast living spaces and not too far from the cbd. You'll get a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, rumpus room, etc, house for around $480. Income tax is less here, yes medical is via Medicare except dental. I looked at costs for optical and dental and haven't gone for private health cover as it wasnt worth it. Your hubby will get work, just might take a while depending on what he does. Be ready for knock backs, I got them. Credit isn't an issue, you'll get renting somewhere and we walked in the day after and bought two mobile phone contacts. We both opened bank accounts from the uk. Credit cards were opened here. No problems. its a gamble, a big one, but with the changes afoot with the visas, go for it! It took us 7 weeks from submit to granted, the timescale at the time was actually 7 weeks. It happened quickly, if they use an agent it will do. All documents properly submitted at the start make it quicker. Rent your house, send your furniture using seven seas, letton Percival for insurance for it rather than through seven seas, see if they'll get you some temp accommodation, if not, organise it via an online agency? Look around at what suits you once here. You won't know unless you try, that's the crux of it. But his visa process changing I guess will make things have to happen quicker, so you don't miss out. People say oh it's not guaranteed permanent residency, so what? Enjoy the four years of living in a great city and see what those four years brings! I wish I would've have given my kids the chance of a beach life, it's bliss at times. We have Aldi, markets, reasonable shipping, we have options, it doesn't have to be rich lifestyle, it's possible to live within your means.
  5. Its been the longest seven weeks. Ever!!! Time to book flights!
  6. There is a lot to second guess with it all.... Ours was nomination and visa submitted together on 23/9, packaged by an agent through the employer, yet some people have had theirs done before this date, can only expect it has something to do with local rather global allocations still.... Ours is 30 days today, so hopefully, if they're up to mid September, as it would appear, we should be done by next Friday., especially if they are still going by the current 35 day processing time .. Hoping, 
  7. I think our sponsor has done several, and we are using an agent, so expecting no further questions.... Hopefully!! Yeah, definitely excellent time frame! I'm wondering if it's different time scales for different regions because they've only just gone to global allocation. Hopefully they'll be up to ours soon enough! ??
  8. Fabtastic speed! Can I ask whereabouts in Australia you're going? Was that nomination submission date on 27/9? We submitted nomination and visa together via agency on 23/9..... Basing to Melbourne... No news yet, but hoping soon!! ??
  9. Hiya.... Do you have the enail address or a link to the page where it is? I can't find it : thanks in advance!!
  10. The he link for this would be good and useful ???? Thanks
  11. Over the past two weeks. It was on their website. Not all staff, and not for the whole two weeks, but during the past fortnight
  12. Ours only went in 23/9 through an agent, nomination and visa together, but were told least 8 weeks and we're hoping for 8 weeks ha ha! Although the immigration dept have been on strike for two weeks so that won't help :-)
  13. Wouls be interested to know when you get this as we are in a similar position; employer used an agent and submitted nomination and visa together ! Was hoping it would be done within the 8 weeks...... Don't feel as optimistic now I know you're still waiting :-(
  14. Hi Dave You mention you're from the UK, and gave a timeline. Could I ask; Did you apply yourself or did the employer apply via an agent for you? Did you complete a company police check form also? We did and nomination submted same time as visa, via agent, just wondering did you have to apply for acro check yourself? Cheers Louise
